And she's 2!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 03/02/2016 21:55

Yes her house is for the kids Hmm

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 03/02/2016 21:56

She is still just talking absolute bollocks, even now she cannot accept any responsibility.

What on earth was she doing paying his school fees.

MrsJamin · 03/02/2016 21:56

I've been following KC news very closely since it closed. The AIBU threads were very interesting and we covered most of the issues covered in this documentary on the threads. So in a way, this documentary is not that shocking, the only shock is the continued delusional attitude of camila in the face of harsh reality of a failed charity.

UnGoogleable · 03/02/2016 21:56

Very weird.

And the lady interviewing her is winding me up now.

Badlittlesis · 03/02/2016 21:57

Many X posts.

How can she possibly justify have the crap she's coming out with, and the usual line of why should poor kids have poor quality.

How many other children could have been helped with the £5000 a month rent, and if she was running it as a psychiatric facility, there must have been staff; heat/light bills food council tax etc. How many other children could that have helped???

The film maker has a very odd way of speaking, like she is singing the same tune over and over again but with different words.

Cachareltastic · 03/02/2016 21:58

£90k salary, private swimming pool and £5k a month flat.

Hillingdon · 03/02/2016 21:59

I honestly don't think she thinks she has done anything wrong! Sorry, a bit confused about the mansion. So, Camila lives in a 2 bed flat so what is this house?

I think that's it. She probably is a genuinely very empathetic and loving person and clearly a charismatic leader. So a great ideas person but a terrible organisation person. Its reminding me a bit of Madoff - it didn't start out as a fraud. It started out as a genuine fund. But when things started to go wrong he dug his heels in and started believing in his own myth and then lying to himself about what was going on.

MrsJamin · 03/02/2016 22:02

If anyone's interested here were the AIBU threads: (1) (2)

Chippednailvarnish · 03/02/2016 22:02

I honestly don't think she thinks she has done anything wrong!

Well if I donated to a charity whos main aim was supporting disadvantaged children and my money went to help a 34 year old woman and paying the chief exec's driver's childrens' school fees I'd feel ripped off.

Chippednailvarnish · 03/02/2016 22:03

But I'm not Camilla!

Badlittlesis · 03/02/2016 22:04

I a bit bemused now, the 'narrative' of the programme still seems to be that someone's to blame but not CB, because look she's still doing things for 'the kids'.

Well she's not going to walk away, that would be tantamount to an admission of guilt, and she'll lose whats left of the adoration she appears to se as her due

IamTheWhoreofBabylon · 03/02/2016 22:05

I don't think she is empathetic
It's about feeding her ego. They created terrible dependency

SparkleSoiree · 03/02/2016 22:07

Many charities pay high salaries to the higher level employees though and people still donate. What would be the difference here?

Backingvocals · 03/02/2016 22:07

I agree her ego is huge. And it's all about her. But that doesn't mean she's not empathetic - perhaps she empathises too much and overestimates how much her empathy matters iyswim. She thought she could save them all with her love. Founders syndrome and God syndrome all in one.

8dayweek · 03/02/2016 22:08

I'm confused though - the 34yr old can't claim benefits and they mentioned she was an asylum seeker? In 13yrs did KC really not help her with any of this?! Did they essentially use Government money to keep her in this country illegally?

LovelyFriend · 03/02/2016 22:08

I suspected the abuse allegations surfacing at a very sensitive time in proceedings were fabricated to get public opinion on side to put the nail in the coffin. And that does seem to be the case.

I'm really none the wiser as to what went on after watching that programme.

It does seem that the media were whipped into a frenzy with a lot of exaggerate claims as a device to shut KC down. Very cowardly tactics.

WonderousStories · 03/02/2016 22:10

That poor lady - was as if Camila treated her like a pet!

absolutelynotfabulous · 03/02/2016 22:11

What angers me most is the way in which everyone was taken in by her for years. Including Cameron. The company must've been audited on a regular basis. How the hell did they pass if they were handing out envelopes with cash in them?

fastdaytears · 03/02/2016 22:11

The AIBU threads were fascinating. Some amazingly effective research.

I can't find this programme- what was it called?

8dayweek · 03/02/2016 22:14

And the guy who was speaking to reporters...didn't he say something along the lines of "this is why KC DIDN'T go to Social Services"? Surely that confirms they often didn't raise safeguarding issues / criminal activity to the appropriate authorities?
