I see it's on Fox tonight: S6 E7
Is that us back from the mid season break, or is it a repeat of what we were watching before xmas?
(oh the waiting......)

I always thought you weren't supposed to eat acorns. Or conkers. Or substitute daffodil bulbs for onions.

limitedperiodonly · 08/03/2016 09:54

I liked Heath and Glenn as a team of virgin human killers and that Glenn took Heath's first kill off him because he was a little bit further down the road.

I'm a bit worried about Fr Gabriel's transformation into Samuel L Jackson from Pulp Fiction.

Lots of foraging here.

I quite enjoyed that episode... I don't get Abraham though. What's his purpose?

I do think it's interesting, this portrayal of the ones that struggle internally with killing people and he ones that don't. Surely the ones that kill people have been the enemy in previous seasons... The Governor, the men that took daryl in and then later had their throats ripped out by Rick. I can see that there is a massive difference between killing because you've been attacked and killing people in their sleep because you feel you and your people deserve to live more than theydo.

I think rick is in danger of becoming like a stereotypical baddie, but that the others are there to help stop him go just that bit too far. Hopefully anyway...

limitedperiodonly · 08/03/2016 10:23

Abraham is a bad person with good points. Like a lot of people.

He was an abusive husband whose wife and children chose to take their chances with the Walkers rather than stay with him. When they were killed, he was about to kill himself, until Eugene stumbled into view with his story about being an important scientist with a cure.

Getting Eugene to D.C. became everything for Abraham. When the lie was exposed, he almost killed Eugene and I think he offered himself up for execution.

He's using Rosita for sex and is unhealthily interested in Sasha - even with an automatic weapon, I wouldn't want to be on patrol with him.

But I see why he's a good person to have around. He's big and strong and is an experienced soldier; he's also brave and inspirational and funny. They can't see inside his head like we can.

EricNorthmanSucks · 08/03/2016 10:29

Rick has gone back and forth through the show. Oscillating between being prepared to do anything to protect what he has ( expelling Carol etc) and a more conflicted approach ( one of Shane's main criticisms of Rick was that in order to do 'good' things, he placed the group in danger).

I suspect he's about to learn that his gung-ho attitude will have come back to bite the group on the ass. Someone's gonna payGrin.

ElderlyKoreanLady · 08/03/2016 10:42

I don't really see Abraham as a bad person. He's certainly selfish, reactive and brutal, but by apocalyptic standards, I don't think we can call him bad.

AgainstTheGlock · 08/03/2016 11:09

I thought Abraham's wife & kids ran because they couldn't cope with him killing some "bad guys"? I don't remember him being abusive towards his family. I seem to remember him coming "home" to find his wife had been brutalised at the hands of intruders.

limitedperiodonly · 08/03/2016 11:16

I might have imagined that glock. I also agree with elderlykoreanlady that it's wrong to call him bad. He's just not a great person who has lots of good points.

limitedperiodonly · 08/03/2016 11:18

I certainly got the impression that Abraham's family were scared of him. Whether that was because he'd always been brutal or had become so, I don't know.

AgainstTheGlock · 08/03/2016 11:20

Yes, I'd agree with you there limitedperiod - by that point his family were scared of him - but was it because he'd always been a bit slap-happy with them or because since the world turned he'd had to be "my way or the highway" to keep everyone safe? Confused

limitedperiodonly · 08/03/2016 11:25

Maybe they're setting Abraham up for a sacrifice, like Samson. That didn't work out well for the Philistines

DontOpenDeadInside · 08/03/2016 11:46

Ok my take in it (I've not watched Talking Dead yet)

1st Glenns 1st human kill. He witnessed those photos of the people with their face smashed in, which anyone who knows what happens in the comics will realise what they are. I think because Glenn saw them-it is going to be more significant for him (trying to be vague here so no spoilers-though its just my thoughts)

2nd I think Abraham meant he was leaving Rosita not the group?

When Morgan and Carol were talking, Morgan asked why she'd not told the others and she said if she did she'd have to tell them about Denise too. What about Denise? Surely she didn't mean that she'd helped the Wolf, because she didn't really have much choice

Carols got a love interest which I'm scared means she's for the chop.

Rick blared the caravans horn to attract walkers so they could find one that looked like Gregory.

Can't wait for next weeks. Hopefully there are no more breaks before the end?

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 08/03/2016 11:52

I can't remember Abrahams back story... But I definitely thought him leaving was leaving the group?

AgainstTheGlock · 08/03/2016 12:14

No, I took it very much to mean he was leaving Rosita, not the group.

PitilessYank · 08/03/2016 12:32

What is Morgan making when he is shown welding towards the end of the episode?

CauliflowerBalti · 08/03/2016 12:38

Pretty sure it's a cell/cage, like the one the cheesemaker confined in him.

I am hoping he's planning to lock Rick in it and try and reform him. Not because I necessarily think Rick needs reforming. Would just make for interesting tv.

The comics also have a cell in, in which a key character gets incarcerated.

CauliflowerBalti · 08/03/2016 12:42

I never liked Abraham, or understood why other people seemed to. He's a total dick and I've been hoping he'd get eaten for ages. His line last night... Vile man. The actor playing him seems equally twatty, as when he was asked to defend that line in an interview he just reiterated it: 'He feels deep love for Rosita, but he isn't in love with her. When the apocalypse broke out, he thought... (etc, script recited verbatim)' Tosser.

He was punching well above his weight with Rosita. I don't like Sorcha/Sasha/whatever the hell her name is, either. They deserve each other.

PitilessYank · 08/03/2016 13:49

Cauliflower-excellent theory re the cage!

Abraid2 · 08/03/2016 13:57

Abraham was decent when they were on the logging expedition and Tobin didn't act to rescue the woman stuck with walkers approaching. Abraham took control and insisted on rescuing her. He was quite awesome. Tobin was also decent ultimately because he told Deanna that Abraham had the skills to be leader, and he didn't.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 08/03/2016 14:00

Did anyone spot that the third decapitated head was Johnny Depp? Apparently he's a big fan of the show! Grin

I hope the fact that Maggie is now in a film doesn't mean that she's not in TWD anymore.

Re Abraham's family, I got the impression that he killed the guys that attacked his family with his bare hands, his family were a bit scared of him anyway and that pushed them over the edge. God that was sad when he found their remains.

CauliflowerBalti · 08/03/2016 14:13

I read the Johnny Depp thing and looked back at the scene - and it looks nothing like him, to my mind... Confused

limitedperiodonly · 08/03/2016 14:45

No I didn't, but I was re-watching the episode where the walkers invade Alexandria and the townspeople come together with Rick's posse to hack them down. I wondered whether there were any slebs in the walker horde
because I know there are loads of famous fans.

In the remake of Dawn Of The Dead (which I think is as good as the original) the survivors realise they are safe inside the shopping centre and amuse themselves by picking off zombies from the roof.

They shoot zombies who look like Britney Spears and David Letterman. I don't know whether they are meant to be lookalikes or really are Britney and David. Because being a celebrity would be no protection against becoming a zombie.
