Just saw the trailer for a new series of this - can't wait! Smile

Farrow, yes she looks almost the same, was she very young in Cracker perhaps?.

I wonder if that family are going to be prominent throughout the series.

Maybe she's lacking in self-esteem? Also she works behind a perfume counter so she doesn't have a 'good job' and she doesn't want the relationship to continue so doesn't want to be a kept woman.

I loved her in cracker. She's really good, should be in more .

Caught up on this today - enjoyed it but did spend a lot of time musing over what I had seen the actors in before - after about half an hour I shouted out "Moseley" to myself! Also it was a bit like a Corrie reunion for some of the actresses! And the farmer's boyfriend/husband/brother (?) was in Atlantis.

Anyway...Sarah L was awesome, as was her sister. Love their chemistry. Think Neil is going to be okay, he may have a dodgy past but I don't think it will be anything too sinister, more of an error of judgement or something.

Think the mistress storyline was weird once she asked for money. I thought she wanted to be with him as she loved him, so bit odd that she just wanted money!

I don't find James Norton so creepy now I have seen him in War & Peace!

I don't like Shirley Henderson either, think she always plays creepy characters.

Looking forward to next week and how all the different storylines develop.

If she didn't want to be a kept woman she wouldn't be demanding the money. She's charging for services rendered

Report
StillStayingClassySanDiego · 10/02/2016 20:32

She's blackmailing him for the money because it's the one thing she can really get at him with.

Report
Lottapianos · 10/02/2016 20:46

I dont think its particularly about the money, its about making him suffer and watching him squirm. Amelia Bullmore is a fantastic actress, I always enjoy her in whatever she's in

The actress who played the farmer was also in The Secret of Crickley Hall (along with Suranne Jones).

I watched series 1 at my mums house a few months back. She is a good source for British police drama and she recommended it to DH and I when we were at hers for dinner and we were hooked. Trouble is now I don't want to wait for episode two; I just want to binge watch the whole thing!

I still can't get over seeing Molesley's arse..... Shock
I also laughed aloud at the Rita/Bob hug Grin
It only occurred to me last night (as it was really bugging me who she was) that Amelia Bullmore was Steph Barnes and Alan Partridge's wife!
Shirley Henderson - i kept saying 'aha oho a track in the snow' Grin

YY too many well known faces, particularly when we have so many talented up and coming actors

Anyway back on topic - DH noticed Neil's shifty glance at Katherine's police uniform, i will be gutted for Claire if he turns out to be anything more than a petty crook.

I am scared, Frances is going to abduct Ryan isn't she? It's going to be like 'The Missing' all over again [watched behind hands, feeling sick at the thought of child abduction, wanting to watch it anyway]

Brilliant though - all of it. I love Katherine and Claire's kitchen Smile

Alan Partridge's Russian wife! That's it! God it's been bugging the hell out of me where I'd seen her before. Could have googled her I suppose Grin.

Vicky has to turn up as a corpse at some point, hasn't she?

I get the feeling that Sally Wainwright likes to work with certain actors she trusts, witness all the Corrie actresses and the fact that Sarah Lancashire and Amelia Bullmore in particular keep turning up in things she's written. I imagine when you can keep churning out successful series the way she does, you get what you want by way of casting.

Shirley Henderson doesn't seem to age, does she? I wonder if she's got an ageing picture of herself hidden in the attic?

carabos Grin I had that head slapping moment too!

gruntled Grin I agree! And going against the grain of thread I love Shirley Henderson, she has a totally different persona in this.

I'm amazed Shirley Henderson is 50. She's barely aged since Transporting, 20 years ago. I wish she was in the new Bridget Jones film.

Is Vicky the mistress? I agree that I suspected she'd end up dead and then her exlover would become a suspect, although his connection with her wouldn't explain him also killing random prostitutes.
Agree most male colleagues would just think the photos looked like drunken stag night and his wife would prefer to know he'd ditched his mistress rather than lose 1k a month indefinitely

No Lottapianos he doesn't. It was explained in the Q&A I went to by Sally Wainwright and James Norton. They filmed Tommy's reaction to his DMs death several times where he was deadpan/cold and showed no emotion but they didn't think it worked. SW asked JN to act as to how Tommy thinks he should react, bearing in mind he's a socio/psycopath. He thinks he should cry at hearing his DM is dead so he does. SW said the final scene was some of the best acting she'd ever seen and I agree with her.

Tommy is a product of his DM's alcoholic neglect and abuse of him as a small child. He hates her. He headbuts her in S1 when she lets Sgt Cawood into the house to rescue Ann. He thinks everyone is like him, in self preservation mode, where the first to lash out, kill, rape wins. He's a monster but a brilliantly written and acted monster.

Oh I had forgotten his relationship with her in series 1 Flora. Thats really interesting. He is a terrific actor. I like how they have cast such a gorgeous actor in the role - looks like an angel but is a monster inside.

I was wondering whether the detective will bump Vicky off and make it look like another serial murder.

I agree with Shirley Henderson looking so young. There was a play (on ITV?) a few years ago where she was the mother of a girl, who was about to sit a test for a private school. She sat the test for her daughter to give her the best chance of passing.

Agreed Lottapianos James Norton is utterly lovely. At the Q&A he was just totally brilliant and very funny. I'm old enough to be his DM - only just! - but even I have a bit of a crush...

finally watched so avoided thread till now

was fab!!!!! :)

so many well known actors, tho have only just clocked that clare is janice from benidorm Blush and yes the new bf to be is prob dodgy

silly vicky, never wise to blackmail a copper, tho pics really werent that bad, and better to tell wife then to give her £1k every month and v will prob send the pics anyway

he could have her done for many things, drugging, possible rape, blackmail .....

frances is obv some stalker/hero worshipper , was almost sitting on him in prison, tho weirdly enough i noticed she took her wedding ring off at the visit - i notice jewellery, why do that, so tommy thinks she is single? she wore it on the train and in the b&b/hotel

man in white van, aka neville from hp, prob is innocent and a red herring

the sheep scene was kinda funny when little old lady almost saw sl bash the sheep

farmer from crickley hall, another fab programme, tho pissed off wasnt the same as the book .....

prosititues looked rank, surprised they would pull anyone paying ........

very weird the new po was the kidnapped/raped one from s1, would she really be a copper in 18mths? or less time after therapy

sure ive missed out stuff but cant wait for no 2

Report
GruntledOne · 12/02/2016 23:37

The kidnap victim isn't a police officer, she's a PCSO, so the timing is about right.

I thought that if a visitor sat as close to a prisoner as Frances did, the officers would intervene. They don't allow kissing as it's a means of passing over drugs, and she came very close to that.
