Just saw the trailer for a new series of this - can't wait! Smile

OP posts:
BigHairySpider · 13/03/2016 18:17

I'm wondering whether Neil knows or saw something regarding Vicky's murder which is why he went back on the booze.
I think Ann will be the one to pin the murder on Moseley. Their date when he didn't turn up - was that when he murdered Vicky?

Can't wait for the final episode.

MissTurnstiles · 13/03/2016 18:56

I really think that Daryl was the killer. There isn't time in one final episode to reveal him as a red herring and resolve that case, plus deal with the Frances / Catherine showdown AND give John his comeuppance. Daryl's mother seemed shocked, but not surprised by his admission. I think we are supposed to take this as evidence of his credibility as a killer.

I think that Neil's purpose is to resolve Vicky's murder by John. He will be persuaded to come forward to admit the blackmail, and they will investigate to see if she was in a relationship with anybody at the time of her death. Pull her phone records and bingo - straight to John.

MissTurnstiles · 13/03/2016 19:00

PS the blood spatter surely confirms that Alison shot Daryl - if he had wrestled the gun off her, he would have shot her in the other direction. No way does he get her in front of him first. I also maintain that the shotgun is too long to turn on herself. Desperately sad, but I remember a similar point being a key reason why they re-opened the investigation into the deaths at Deep Cut barracks; it was proven that one of the soldiers could not have committed suicide with the identified weapon because it was too long.

hollyisalovelyname · 13/03/2016 19:02

I can't see what makes Mosley attractive to Anne.

southeastdweller · 13/03/2016 19:22

Exactly MissTurnstiles, I said the same thing earlier in the week - there's just not the time in the hour long finale to deal with the Frances and John stories as well as the killer reveal. Even if there hadn't been any references to Of Mice and Men it seems obvious at this point for it to be anyone else other than Daryl. The Halifax mafia story will also need to be addressed.

ElementaryMyDear · 15/03/2016 07:34

I'm not convinced either about the Scalextric incident and Catherine's handling of it. What was the point of freaking out in front of Ryan? She could simply have taken it to forensics, had it examined/destroyed, replaced it with another and Ryan wouldn't have been any the wiser.

But surely the whole point is that he has to know the Scalextric comes from her and not from his father?

diddl · 15/03/2016 08:17

"I can't see what makes Mosley attractive to Anne."

Just his job, I think.

"But surely the whole point is that he has to know the Scalextric comes from her and not from his father?"

I agree.

Although the taking in of something from the step without checking the card.

Realistic or not?

Gruach · 15/03/2016 08:50

Is it Tuesday?

Is it actually Tuesday??

MorrisZapp · 15/03/2016 08:54

I know!!

I have informed DP that if he so much as clears his throat between 9 and 10pm tonight I will not be responsible for my actions.

Also, no crackly biscuit packets allowed.

MorrisZapp · 15/03/2016 08:54

Struggling with Anne's attraction to Molesley too.

Gruach · 15/03/2016 09:05

Hah! On another drama thread a poster has implied that the rest of us are simply not seeing the truth of the story.

Surely you're all missing the obvious attraction in John for Anne?

Middle aged, thinning haired, worried, tired husband and father. A policeman no less. For her, after all she suffered at the hands of TLR, John is the world's most harmless, least dangerous man.

Except he's not...

diddl · 15/03/2016 09:24

Will John take Anne hostage in an attempt to getaway?

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/03/2016 11:59

whoop 9hrs time, tho not 100% i can watch tonight ..... :(

so who do we think did the killing, apart from john

MorrisZapp · 15/03/2016 12:22

Mark my words! Our Catherine is going to get very wet tonight.

(according to The Metro)

absolutelynotfabulous · 15/03/2016 12:24

I'm still struggling a bit with the Ryan/ Catherine/TLR/ Scalextric thing. Catherine let Ryan open the package, play with the toy, and it was only later that Claire found and opened the card. Why not just discreetly replace the Scalextric (for forensic investigation reasons) and not say any more about it?

I'm beginning to wonder about the Ryan/TLR thing. Ryan knows he has a dad, and knows he's in prison. Yet Catherine random tells Ryan that TLR is not his dad.
I'm confused (and overinvested) slaps self.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/03/2016 13:13

We need dna !!!

absolutelynotfabulous · 15/03/2016 13:17

Yes, without dna the field is wide open. Apart from semen, what other dna could there be at the scene? Blood? Skin? Saliva?

ElementaryMyDear · 15/03/2016 13:19

She felt she had to take the Scalextric off Ryan because she wanted to reinforce the principle that he should have nothing to do with his father, and didn't want him feeling grateful to his dad. Discreetly replacing it wouldn't have achieved that.

absolutelynotfabulous · 15/03/2016 13:22

Just looked up dna needs to get a life and apparently it can consist of any biological matter: so it must be one heck of a careful attacker who doesn't leave any at all.

Do they not have ANY dna on the victims or just dna that they can't link to a perpetrator?

Gruach · 15/03/2016 14:16

Were there any consequences from Catherine and Anne finding the mafia guy hanged in the park? Surely that must lead to something?

absolutelynotfabulous · 15/03/2016 15:15

gruach no, I don't think anything came of hanged man. Another loose end, hopefully to be tied up tonight.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 15/03/2016 16:28

Daryl was the killer; as said above, there's little room for another killer reveal.

I don't think the Halifax mafia and hanging man reveal will go anywhere either.

It's all about John, Frances and Catherine tonight!

Cannot wait.

Gruach · 15/03/2016 16:46

So what was the point of the hanging scene? What did it change?

AgonyBeetle · 15/03/2016 16:58

I'm still struggling a bit with the Ryan/ Catherine/TLR/ Scalextric thing. Catherine let Ryan open the package, play with the toy, and it was only later that Claire found and opened the card. Why not just discreetly replace the Scalextric (for forensic investigation reasons) and not say any more about it?

I'm beginning to wonder about the Ryan/TLR thing. Ryan knows he has a dad, and knows he's in prison. Yet Catherine random tells Ryan that TLR is not his dad. I'm confused (and overinvested) slaps self.

I presume she means 'he's not your dad' in the social and emotional sense, rather than not the biological father. Trying to pre-empt Ryan developing an emotional attachment to fantasy about TLR being a long-lost loving dad. I don't think she was denying paternity in the genetic sense.

That's how I read it anyway.

absolutelynotfabulous · 15/03/2016 17:02

Mmmm....dunno. I noticed that Ann was not remotely fazed by hanging man, though, and went on to describe the scene somewhat lasciviously later on. I thought it might be something about showing her true character (I was hoping there was going to be more from Ann).

I don't think it changed anything. Not yet, anyway; unless there's more to be revealed tonight (or maybe in a future series (hopes)).

We'll soon find out. Only 4 hours to go.
