Ah ... Interesting Coco. There's an absent man in that household (not that every household has to have one obvs but it's quite ... pointed that Ma and son have all the work to do and only each other for friends) - perhaps she might blame one or more of those poor girls for a broken marriage?

makemineasnowball · 04/03/2016 20:42

The poor quality sound is driving me bonkers Angry

southeastdweller · 04/03/2016 20:45

If the farmer is the killer then that means there's two villains - her and the rapist. I doubt Sally Wainwright would overegg the story like that.

southeastdweller · 04/03/2016 20:53

If it's Neil then he's probably doing to prostitutes what he wanted to do to Vicky.

I agree. I think the breakdown of his marriage because of the affair brought out a misogynistic streak in him. The actor who plays Neil has been in the business for nearly 30 years and I doubt Sally Wainwright would give big scenes when it all comes out to less experienced actors (Dean and Daryl). The killer being Neil would likely mean we see even more of another acting veteran, Siobhan Finneran (Claire).

Oh dear. It's true, the Neil actor is probably much too "big" to have been brought in just to play a quietly distressed boyfriend. I've been hoping he may just be mistakenly implicated but ...

James Norton is extraordinarily physically graceful. There was a scene early on in the series when he was in his cell and pushed his foot on or off the desk - was like ballet. And I suspect more work and thought goes into the prison visiting scenes with Frances than in whole series of lesser dramas.

I still like her. The embodiment of hunger. Grin It will be fascinating if she switches sides - but I suppose we'll have to see her terrorising Catherine first.

Gwenhwyfar · 05/03/2016 09:01

"The farmer boy is the one who was being bullied by the other boys and then took a hammer to one of them."

Sorry. They look similar to me and the farmer boy's mother doesn't look old enough to be his mother. I still don't think it's the farmer boy though.

Gwenhwyfar · 05/03/2016 09:03

"Though she probably could do better for herself ..."

If Neil isn't the murderer, I wouldn't say he wasn't good enough for Claire.

Chocolatteaddict1 · 05/03/2016 09:55

I'm going to stick my head out and admit I think Frances plays a good part. It makes me uncomfortable to watch her snd she really gives me the creeps which plays well in to dangerous she actually is in regards to the young lad.

I can see SL having to physically beat her to death snd I think I think that will be a big fight scene. A bit like the one in Stephen Kings Misery Grin

MyRedCardigan

I loved that film "Dancin Thru The Dark" - the full version is on Youtube so I'm going to try and watch it again

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 05/03/2016 12:11

I just can't see Neil as a killer angry enough to inflict such appalling injuries suffered by those women.

I can see Daryl being pent up with so much suppressed rage after being bullied and laughed at over the years that he would do something so awful.

Myredcardigan · 05/03/2016 21:34

bantamgirl, it was fab!
'What's your name, love?'
'Donna'
''What, like the kebab?' Grin

I remember reading that it wasn't available on DVD due to the distributer going bust or something.

PetrovaFossil1 · 06/03/2016 03:30

Off topic slightly, but James Norton was adorable in this:

MitzyLeFrouf · 06/03/2016 12:50

Norton is lovely in that Petrova but Robson Green is such a twit. I had to switch it off.

MitzyLeFrouf · 06/03/2016 12:52

I'd be surprised if James Norton signs up for another series of Grantchester. Since War & Peace he must have some good work offers coming in. I'd imagine Hollywood will come calling soon.

And poor fake accented Robson will be left blubbing into his porridge.

MyRedCardigan

I'm watching it now!!! On the Youtubes! It's such a long time since I have seen it that I can't remember any of the dialogue but I just remember finding it soooooooo romantic when Debbie and Peter first laid eyes on one another in that club (I think).

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/03/2016 17:40

Finally watched so avoided thread till now

Also saw the rope and may be a power thing / tho also think the sister boyfriend is dodgy

Tho the prositute got reg details which fit the white van of Neville actor (Neil)
Tho he looked shocked at that - so does that mean that others in the firm can use his white van?

bantamgirl · 06/03/2016 17:48

In fact - That is how long ago it is - I have completely forgot the story line and they first laid eyes on one another in the Italian restaurant!
