She looks fab for 50! She was saying how she felt she was too old to do the third Bridgit Jones.

Bantamgirl
Who are Debbie and Peter?

polyhymnia · 07/03/2016 15:59

I think that's how 50 looks these days.

Sorry, I went off topic for a bit talking to MyRedCardigan about a film Con O'Neill had been in - his character was called Peter.

Adventuregame · 08/03/2016 09:41

A bit irrelevant but as I didn't watch the first series I have one question. How do Catherine and Claire know the Nevison family and wife that died ? Is it just that the wife helped Claire with alcohol ? There seems to be a link there that I'm missing ? They both went to funeral and wake. Thanks

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/03/2016 09:47

In the first series Tommy kidnapped their daughter for their disgruntled friend and employee who didn't get a promotion /payrise

Catherine found and rescued her and she then decided to join the police force as shown in s2 e1

Think mum was poorly then - no sure if a friendship happened before that?

Hope that correc if not someone please verify :)

OnlyLovers · 08/03/2016 11:24

I'm not sure about the friendship between Catherine/Claire and the Gallaghers either and I watched the first series. Claire in particular seemed to be quite close friends with Helen. I think she was very upset by Helen's death, wasn't she, if I remember the episode rightly?
I got the impression the friendship went back years, but I don't know why and may well be wrong!

Arkengarthdale · 08/03/2016 11:28

Didn't Claire work with Helen in some sort of help centre, had Helen helped Claire with her drug and alcohol problems? They were good friends, I think. If I remember correctly, Claire persuaded Helen to report Ann's kidnap to Catherine although Nevison was determined to pay the ransom with no police involvement. Helen was diagnosed with cancer and Ann never told her the extent of the abuse she suffered at the hands of Tommy Lee Royce.

Adventuregame · 08/03/2016 11:58

Ah ok - that makes more sense !

absolutelynotfabulous · 08/03/2016 12:20

I've just been watching last week's again. I seem to miss quite a lot. I've just realised that White Van Man had hair belonging to one of the murdered girls in his van and I'm trying to think who may have had access to the van?

I'm also getting a bit suspicious of Nevison-is he a bit too good to be true or is that just me? Also, Catherine seems to be quite close to him personally, and I don't quite get that. She seems too hard-bitten to get involved with someone whom she had had dealings with on a professional level.

Neil is definitely dodgy, though, imho. He knew Vicky, was involved with her, and yet refuses to go to the police about the fact that he was blackmailed by Vicky. Why? What's he hiding?

Can't wait for tonight!

Clawdy · 08/03/2016 12:31

Our local paper this morning seemed to be giving away a huge spoiler, unless it's not what it seems. Bit annoying. Angry

Gruach · 08/03/2016 12:34

I don't have the patience to watch any episode again but surely John would have had access to the van as he's on the investigating team?

Did they say which murdered girl's hair? If not - given that the police don't actually know who has carried out the serial killings isn't it likely that John has attempted to fit up the most obvious suspect?

(All this will be wrong if I've misremembered!)

absolutelynotfabulous · 08/03/2016 12:54

Yes, they did say the murdered girl's name. One of the foreign ones.

I'd forgotten about John having access to the van during the investigation; I was thinking more about when van man was actually working at Nevison's and picking up girls. I think John as a possible killer of the girls is a red herring. Just too obvious. And as for him fitting up Van Man, there is no forensic evidence other than the hair left at any of the scenes. The investigative team remarked on it. John must've known that placing hair in the van wouldn't have been enough to link Van Man to the other killings too.

Gruach · 08/03/2016 13:01

No ... I was thinking John might simply be trying to misdirect evidence for the murder he is responsible for.

It's not a nice thing to think about but I suppose it's perfectly possible that white van man did on some occasion have either of the murdered women in his van - without having killed them. No reason why he would have known their names.

absolutelynotfabulous · 08/03/2016 13:26

Yes, even though he claims not to know the some, it's perfectly possible that he's used them as prostitutes.

Another thing I'm not sure I've misunderstood is: in Series 1, Ryan was allowed to cycle home alone from school even though Tommy was known to be on the run. Does anyone else find it strange that Ryan was allowed this sort of freedom when the family knew full well that Tommy was on the hunt for Ryan?

Yet, in the current series, Ryan is still being taken to school when Tommy is safely behind bars. And he's now 10!

Any one else notice this? Or is it just me being thick

hollyisalovelyname · 08/03/2016 16:24

Thanks Bantamgirl.
I thought I had missed a huge chunk. Smile

OnlyLovers · 08/03/2016 18:08

Thanks Arken! That does ring bells.

absolutely, yes, I did think that was a bit of a clanger in the first series; Ryan's family were generally on high alert about his safety, but let him cycle home along a quiet canal path. Hmm I think it was a rare case of 'necessary to plot-itis'!

CreepingDogFart · 08/03/2016 19:00

I'm too excited for tonight's episode!Grin

CreepingDogFart · 08/03/2016 20:56

Eeeeeee any minute now!ShockGrinWine

drspouse · 08/03/2016 21:48

Can't not post... All my adoptive parent senses are screaming WHY have you lot not told Ryan the full truth in age appropriate terms??!

youngestisapsycho · 08/03/2016 21:59

Is it last one next week?

Cooroo · 08/03/2016 22:00

cooroo that's what I think, I don't think Daryl is a murderer.

Can't believe the ending though! Cor blimey

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 08/03/2016 22:02

Daryl did kill them, he admitted that he did.
