I haven't seen him in anything else. I shall have to consult google images for research purposes Wink

OnlyLovers · 02/03/2016 16:30

Have you, squoosh? I might wander over there. [innocent face]

Chocolatteaddict1 · 02/03/2016 16:32

Oh I've just found this thread.

Wow happy valley ! Didn't even see the 1st series but watched a catch up link.

Love it

Gruach · 02/03/2016 16:37

Oh my!

Fabulous episode. Oddly enough I'd almost decided the farming people were brother and sister - but mother and son makes sense with the bullies' taunts. Surely he's definitely the murderer?

Shirley Henderson is stupendous. (Have you heard her recording of Goblin Market? Utterly revelatory.) The prison scenes are still mesmerising; her body language when TLR was trying to push her further than she wanted to go. I could watch the two of them playing "push me, pull you" for hours.

Neil will definitely find himself suspected. I wonder if the - volunteer (?) policewoman will redeem herself with some useful discovery. Or if she'll be the sacrificial heroine.

Nevison needs a makeover ...

Lottapianos · 02/03/2016 16:45

'Nevison needs a makeover ...'

Grin Bless him

Going to have to get stuck into Grantchester tonight. Does JN play a vicar? I do enjoy a man in vicar's garb. Yum Wink

OnlyLovers · 02/03/2016 16:53

Lotta, he does.

Lottapianos · 02/03/2016 16:56

Wonderful. It will be nice to see him play a character who doesn't make my skin crawl. Didn't see War and Peace y'see - was there lots of uniform-wearing in that too? kicks self

Gruach · 02/03/2016 17:04

Ultimate uniform wearing in War and Peace.

Grantchester? Is it brain engaging?

squoosh · 02/03/2016 17:11

Do you find this brain engaging?

Happy Valley is back soon!
Lottapianos · 02/03/2016 17:14

Brain firmly engaged! Thanks squoosh, will be booking my place on the couch for 9pm tonight

He is a thousand times hotter than Tom Hiddleston by the way, even if TH was marginally less weedy in last Sunday's episode

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 02/03/2016 17:17

Shock I had no idea he had such range as an actor Grin

NigellasGuest · 02/03/2016 17:29

Does anyone think Ann will get suspicious of Mosely for the Vicky murder, so he will bump her off?

OnlyLovers · 02/03/2016 17:43

Yep, there is uniform-wearing to the max in W&P. It's definitely worth checking out.

Grantchester is more brain-engaing than I'd imagined it would be; was pleasantly surprised by it. It's sort of cosy crime, but a bit more textured and gritty than that description suggests.

mirage937 · 02/03/2016 17:45

Well in Scott and Bailey he stabed Janet when it turned out he was the serial killer

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 02/03/2016 18:51

I love George Costigan , great actor and as Nevison he's just fab, he wanted to sack the daft lad [arrested for the murders. his name escapes me right now] but felt compelled to keep him on because his Wife always saw the good and so he felt he should too.

southeastdweller · 02/03/2016 18:58

I'd quite like to see Catherine with someone but then again I also find it refreshing seeing a female main character in a TV show who's not an appendage to a man. Sally Wainwright and Sarah Lancashire are doing a fabulous job making Catherine so credible I sometimes forget the character's not real Blush

AnyFucker · 02/03/2016 19:01

The One Show right now !

mirage937 · 02/03/2016 19:27

Wasn't she seeing her ex in series 1

ILikeToClean · 02/03/2016 21:15

I'm disturbed that I find James Norton attractive when he is so evil in this! But it adds to the idea that Frances will do whatever he wants...you probably would if you were up close with him!

Did anyone notice Neil when Catherine and Clare were talking about TLR with Ryan at the table, he looked really uncomfortable...can't remember what particular line they said but it was a very subtle grimace or something - might have to watch again as I am not sure if I imagined it.

Yes I think we all agree that the farmer boy is the murderer - when Ann went to look in the boot he distracted her by saying the hammer was in the back seat so she wouldn't look too closely.

I think john would have done better to fake horror and shock when he saw the body then tell his boss he had had an affair with her. That would account for hairs, prints, phone records everything. Surely, that would have been the clever thing to do.

Totally agree with this!

And also...why was John's wife kicking him out and changing the locks, she had the affair, she doesn't know about his affair, does she? Surely she can't do that! But I think it is to show his aggressive nature, when he was trying to break the lock with the brick etc...

That's my point !! I've lived in Fife. No one talks like that there !
It's a completely phoney "Scottish" accent

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 02/03/2016 23:19

She is a Scot though. Maybe she's hamming it up to sound crazierConfused She was very annoying in Filth too.
I hope poor Anne doesn't get bumped off, she's been through enough!

Lottapianos · 03/03/2016 07:51

Filth - god I LOVED that film! James McAvoy was so brilliant. SH was indeed very annoying, as always

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 03/03/2016 08:10

James McAvoy is a class act. He was amazing in Filth.

diddl · 03/03/2016 09:11

I wonder how far Frances will go though?

She's desperate to do what TLR wants, but seemingly to a limit?

She was quite insistant that turning Ryan from Catherine to TLR was the thing to do & that Catherine hadn't killed his mum.

I think that deep down she knows he's talking shite.

drspouse · 03/03/2016 10:15

I think she's starting to be afraid of TLR, she was pacifying him quite a bit and less of the "we are start crossed lovers who are on the same wavelength".

Did we establish whether she knew him in some capacity before or was just a nutter who visits other nutters in prison?
