Anyone see Shetland tonight? New drama series on BBC1?

I liked it! Nice to see the scenery, plus Scottish accents on a BEeb programme.

OP posts:

I thought the gunner guy was escaping from Shetland from boat and clueless female cop was travelling to Shetland by plane. If he'd escaped by a wee boat it's a very long boat trip to Glasgow airport.

musicinspring1 · 12/02/2016 23:21

Yes, that's what I meant 2rebecca. It was the same guy wasn't it??Confused

Missanneshirley · 12/02/2016 23:23

Oh I thought airport guy was one of mccolls stooges?

GraceKellysLeftArm · 13/02/2016 06:09

No, not the same. The shooter missed his escape from the island and the person seen "carrying a case like a fishing rod" was indeed a fishing rod.
I'd have fallen for the stooge at the airport too - gorgeous and I'll assume tosh knew too but decided he was worth the risk.

musicinspring1 · 13/02/2016 06:35

So the guy in the airport was not the same guy up in the ruin?! Confused They looked similar, right? ?

Davros · 13/02/2016 08:39

I thought they were the same person

2rebecca · 13/02/2016 10:46

They looked very similar, similar age and build blokes with half hearted beards from what I remember.

Gruach · 13/02/2016 20:16

No - Tosh had her pick of handsome men in that episode, one good, one presumably evil, but neither if them was the contract killer.

Why, exactly, did whatsisface decide to creep around the castle on his own rather than waiting for back up? In fact that happened at three separate venues - Tosh (+ fit guy) at Level Nine and Jimmy at the killer's hideout. Silly behavioir.

There was just too much urgent phone communication - I don't care if that is how things happen in RL, it doesn't work as the main source of entertainment on screen.

Still brilliant. I'd been afraid it might not stand up to Happy Valley - but I needn't have been.

Roonerspism · 13/02/2016 21:37

Just watched last night's

It's quite stressful! Why do these police officers not have proper back up?!

Really enjoying it. Might not be perfect tv but v watchable

Fiderer · 14/02/2016 07:52

The airport man had been following Tosh - at least there were a couple of shots from inside a car and Tosh on the pavement.

What I didn't get was how he took her out of the airport. Suppose he could have drugged her beer then pretended she was drunk and taking her home.

Anyone get the address of the house Craig was told to pour petrol into? Whose was it?

Fiderer · 14/02/2016 07:56

I thought the same about all the urgent phoning.

And they seem to get forensic results within half an hour. Is that even feasible? I assumed they'd have to send stuff to the mainland.

2rebecca · 14/02/2016 08:33

Agree trying to take out a contract killer on your own on a family day out is just silly. All police series seem to involve single police wandering around dodgy areas with no lighting/ loads of hiding places. I presume the producers think it makes it exciting, it just makes them look brainless.

diddl · 14/02/2016 08:45

So are we supposed to think that it's Tosh in the case at the end??

diddl · 14/02/2016 08:52

No, silly me! It's just her case, isn't it to show that someone has her?

Gruach · 14/02/2016 09:18

Surely her roadkill artist will fly out to the rescue?

diddl · 14/02/2016 09:44

Hope so!

So, can anyone summarise what's going on as I haven't a clue!

So Michael Maguire was in witness protection & now that he is dead, McCall is out.

But it's not just about McCall and there's also a police leak somewhere?

The gunman was at the castle & is still on the run.

Tosh missed her flight because she has been kidnapped/fancied airport bloke?

What does she know that's so important & has she told anyone else?

What's it all about??!!

Missanneshirley · 14/02/2016 18:24

I want to know why the wee weegie policeman is dressed like that in his leather jacket?!
I'm worried about jimmy's MIL!

bigbadbarry · 17/02/2016 21:49

Just watched the most recent ep so sorry to come in late. How did Sandy know the random man lurking in the castle was the gunman? If he'd just looked a bit touristy it surely would all have been fine.
Narked that the female police officer is the one to get kidnapped. Yawn yawn. I expect she'll have to do a bit of screaming before getting rescued.

Gruach · 18/02/2016 00:01

Well ... The man was clearly hiding. And managed to show that he wasn't planning to harm any children but really would prefer the place to himself. I'd imagine Sandy would know the face of every known miscreant about the place - so this could only be the mystery killer.

Clawdy · 18/02/2016 10:05

I got completely confused because the airport guy who kidnapped Tosh just looked like the young bearded police guy she was working with earlier!

GraceKellysLeftArm · 18/02/2016 10:18

Do all scots look the same or something? Wink

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 18/02/2016 11:08

Ds3 was at school with the actress who plays Cassie.

bigbadbarry · 18/02/2016 11:31

I have very poor facial recognition - I struggle to follow anything when DH is away, unless it is carefully cast (one blonde tall one, one short dark one, one who always wears a hat... lol). So to me, too, the airport man looked like the policeman.

GraceKellysLeftArm · 18/02/2016 13:50

For Jimmy fans, this is a short story currently only 59p for kindle about Jimmy going off island to help his ex-wife out - written by Ann Cleeves who wrote the 5 original Shetland stories.

I intend to get stuck in this afternoon.

OldCrowMedicineShow · 18/02/2016 13:56

Hitman who shot McGuire was tall and had sandy brown hair. Possible bad man hunk who may or may not have had something to do with Tosh had black hair. Different men.
I terribly want the 'tea and digestive biscuit' man to come to her rescue.
