And on we dance ...

Jay hasn't rumba'd. Given that they'll all skip one dance he might not do it at all but I'd be disappointed - he has the relevant skills to potentially do the best male rumba since Colin Jackson, and Aliona has the choreography skills to play to his strengths. It's a bit high risk to do such a minefield dance so late in the day but although Jay's hips and face might be iffy but his arms, hands, general lines and spins are pretty much bomb proof so there's no way he'd get an actual bad score. Harry did a late rumba....

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 29/11/2015 12:38

I love reading threads with people who actually know what they are talking about. Very informative & interesting.

emotionsecho · 29/11/2015 12:57

I'd like the final to be Jay, Georgia and Anita but I think Helen will be there instead of Anita. Imo Anita deserves a final place as she is very much a non-dancer who has had to learn from the basics up wheras Helen has at least an understanding of dance and movement from her years of ballet, I do appreciate that ballet and ballroom are very different but you do learn the importance of footwork in ballet and how to hold yourself so Helen does have an advantage.

Jay hasn't rumba'd, I think he do it well, he also hasn't done a Charleston or Samba he seems to have done a lot of ballroom and 'slower' dances.

I just want to see Gleb do an Argentine TangoBlush. Helen might do a good one as she does control her legs well.

Len was really grumpy last night and rude, I think all the hoo-ha last week got to him.

Interesting to read James Jordan's take on the quickstep-a-thon, I don't like him much but he does talk sense about dancing.

The Anton 'awful' comment was funny, especially when he realised the camera was on him and he tried to look all positive and excited.

onlywhenyouleave · 29/11/2015 13:00

I would absolutely love to see Jay rumba, it would be awesome!! If any male celeb can do a fantastic rumba, it would be Jay. In fact, I keep hearing his ex-bandmate's song on the radio (that Over and Over Again one). Every time, I think it would be such a good track for a rumba and therefore I think Jay should use it Grin

TheDrsDocMartens · 29/11/2015 13:53

Im constantly hopeful of Bruno & Len to go , Craig as head judge, Karen Hardy & Brendan as replacements. Anton talks too much

oneowlgirl · 29/11/2015 13:57

Love this thread & pretty much agree with all the comments!

Cherrypi · 29/11/2015 14:03

Ooh Karen would of course be excellent and Brendan would make it interesting.

Fiderer · 29/11/2015 14:09

Anton as a presenter would be too "Me me how marvellously witty I am (not)"

I did once think Graham Norton but he'd be taking the piss (albeit wittily) and the producers wouldn't like it and also, lewd & watershed.

Xander the Pointless bloke (as it were) would be good.

Judges: KH, IW, Craig + 1.

I like the set up the way it is, judges, Tess and Claudia too.

SoupDragon · 29/11/2015 16:08

I think each of the judges brings something different. Am I right that Len is the only "proper" ballroom dancer? Darcey is very good at judging the look of the performance and how it can be improved, Craig seens to offer the most constructive criticism, Len knows what they should be doing wrt the rules and Bruno.... Um... I'm sure there's something specific...

emotionsecho · 29/11/2015 16:25

I definitely think Karen Hardy and/or Ian Waite would be a good addition to the panel. Craig should stay, this season especially his criticism has been constructive and I love the way he says some words his intonation of 'ugly' and 'gorgeous' are frequently repeated in this houseGrin.

I don't want Anton anywhere near either presenting or judging it would become the Anton Show and he would be worse than Bruno.

TheDrsDocMartens · 29/11/2015 16:31

I think Craig is more balanced as a judge, Darcy is better at performancethan at first , Len as a ballroom judge could be replaced by Karen/Ian/Brendan & Bruno could be replaced by someone that can sit in a chair.

Fiderer · 29/11/2015 16:31

I agree each judge brings something different. Have loved SCD for years but this year I find myself thinking:

Len is just going through the motions, his heart isn't in it any more
Bruno ditto but more flamboyant as a result
Darcey often seems to be grasping for something to say & then picks on something small that she tries to make more important than it is

Craig - still wonderful, slightly mellowed

Dunno, maybe I'm just jaded.

I have just caught up on this and thought Anita was terrible - she had barely any hip action, knees were bent, she fell in and out of transitions - the bit where he chucked her through his legs she really struggled to get up

I LOVE how grumpy Len was!

MrsJamin · 29/11/2015 16:59

Caption competition!

Behooven · 29/11/2015 17:00

Remember when Darcy first joined, she was so nervous and terribly posh, she kept saying 'yaah'
Love her though

Queenbean · 29/11/2015 17:03

Behooven I'm so glad the producers told her to stop that - I love her now, she is so good at giving constructive feedback

digerd · 29/11/2015 17:05

When Len makes an attempt to mention heel leads he gets booed from the audience. I see the dance as a whole and don't usually notice if there was a heel lead or not and am sure most viewers don't either or care.

And as Arlene said about one celeb woman - think it was Denise-, the feet are only 9" of the whole body and although Denise's footwork in high heels was not perfect, the rest of her body danced beautifully.

Yes Len is the only expert trained in Ballroom and Latin only

Behooven · 29/11/2015 17:06

Yes, and I love it when she demonstrates something herself. It makes it so clear to a non dancer like me.

KurriKurri · 29/11/2015 17:06

Considering that Darcey managed to learn very quickly to stop saying yaaah, hoe come Bruno can't stop himself shouting 'bull's bollocks' and Len constantly comes out with comments featuring his bum or his walnuts?

Behooven · 29/11/2015 17:27
Grin
Annarose2014 · 29/11/2015 17:52

I think Len is just constantly going "I'm too old for this shit" in his head.

It's fun when it spills out, like this week.

I actually think Bruno does give some good pointers. It's just that he's become so coked out and borderline creepy that nobody hears it amongst all the cringyness.

Darcey used to be better. This year it's either Phwooooooaaaar at Gleb or crap about the contestants energy.

Am enjoying Craig the most. If only the rest would actually write down their points like he does! He's still very tuned into technicalities but has become so much nicer. He seems happier actually. Remember when started and the defensiveness was just rolling off him?
