And on we dance ...

OP posts:
Annarose2014 · 30/11/2015 10:52

I'm quite shocked that spoiler was correct.

I suppose I get how they'd know who was in the bottom two once the phone lines were closed, but how do they know who is going to go? Educated guess?

Costacoffeeplease · 30/11/2015 11:07

The spoiler is posted by someone in contact with someone who was there, so as soon as the second show has been recorded and the audience leave, the spoiler can be sent by text/email and posted on digital spy

Clawdy · 30/11/2015 11:22

Yes,I'm glad the "bile" will be coming to an end, it had begun to take over and spoil a really entertaining thread.

ppeatfruit · 30/11/2015 11:42

Interesting about Katie and Ant not being in the DO. I missed the dances but were KK really that much worse? Hmm. Or just didn't get the public vote/

I'm watching Xfactor with DD1 who's still staying and it seemed a good idea to go the public votes if there's a tie, does anyone else agree ??

SheHasAWildHeart · 30/11/2015 12:02

I know that when X Factor ends they release details about who came top of each vote each week, does SCD ever do anything like that? it'd be interesting to see.

SockQueen · 30/11/2015 12:42

Katie and Anton moved ahead of K&K after the quickstep-a-thon, so needed fewer votes to avoid the DO anyway. And I voted for them. Grin

Redcrayons · 30/11/2015 14:27

Annarose - the 'Sunday' show is filmed on Saturday night. Digital sPY run a spoiler thread and usually manage to find someone who was there during filming who relay the results to them. It's really bad form on there to post the spoiler or hints about the spoiler outside of that thread.

It's not too hard to find the result on Twitter on Saturday night as well.

TheDrsDocMartens · 30/11/2015 14:32

Why doEastenders do big stories for their Strictly contestant every year? They really suffer for it.

ChoccyJules · 30/11/2015 14:55

Thanks for getting back to me abt Brendan.

I agree that Kellie looked tired in her dance-off dance, glad she made it through as she's had some good weeks.

I am now a bit flummoxed as to who will go next. To me (not an expert) several of them are on a par. I also can't call the final three, though I think the GGs will be there.

My stepdad has judged with Len and also knows Kevin & Joanne's parents, so we had a fun weekend watching him watching them. Everything he said about technique during the dances matched Len's next comments precisely!

SheHasAWildHeart · 30/11/2015 15:24

I think Kellie will go next week, probably her and Katie in the Dance Off?

digerd · 30/11/2015 15:37

From the BBC recording video of the quickstep-a-thon, Anton's experience in "Floor Craft" showed up. I noticed him leading Katie unhindered by the others round the outside circle. The others were huddled together in the middle for a while, hence K&K dancing lots on the spot and not travelling.
But what they did was very slick footwork.

AnyoneButSanta · 30/11/2015 16:25

ITV releases the week by week breakdown of its phone votes after the end of the series for X Factor, Dancing on Ice (RIP) and, I think, IACGMOOH as well. I think they were forced into it after a vote rigging scandal. The world does not appear to come to an end.

However the BBC has always claimed that their votes are confidential and sensitive, and have never been forced to release them.

What did your step father say about the quickstepathon Choccy?

MovemberSucks · 30/11/2015 16:50

I don't think they would do that AnyoneButSanta. They have to gently persuade celebs to appear on Strictly, usually against their better judgement, so they wouldn't do anything that might show them up as unpopular with the public.

ChoccyJules · 30/11/2015 16:57

That Jay deserved to be placed much higher than he was.

emotionsecho · 30/11/2015 16:59

digerd sorry if I'm being thick but do you mean the actual recording shown on TV or a different one you have seen somewhere? I re-watched it but it was still a blur and I could barely pick anyone out!

AnyoneButSanta · 30/11/2015 17:00

I know they don't want to, and I guess that keeping the votes secret helps them get a better quality of celeb, but it's clearly not unthinkable, because ITV releases the data on very similar shows.

SoupDragon · 30/11/2015 17:00

I wonder if Jay looked worse in full rather than the select shots we got?

I don't think Kellie will go out after a DO with Katie.

emotionsecho · 30/11/2015 17:01

Movember do celebs really need persuading to do Strictly? I thought there was quite a few who actively want to do it and they do get paid well to appear.

AnyoneButSanta · 30/11/2015 17:02

It's possible that Jay made a cockup (either footwork or floorcraft) we didn't see. Someone on DS claimed they'd noticed a stumble.

MovemberSucks · 30/11/2015 17:14

It's hard to know because the BBC keep the process quite opaque, but I think the more A-list they are the less likely it is that they will have the time or the need to improve their profile and therefore they need more persuasion.

I think there are a lot of soap stars who are ex-stage school and would jump at the chance to do it, and I also think that it's something that athletes are likely to volunteer for when it's off season for them because it's a challenge. Just soap stars and athletes wouldn't be enough though, and they need to maintain the story of it being fun, friendly and a learning experience to get the more interesting people to do it.

digerd · 30/11/2015 17:30

Both Jay and Pete as celeb men had it much harder to steer their partners away from the other dancing pairs. The girls had to just follow the pros.

emotionsecho
I found it on the BBC SCD website, video of Saturday's Quckstep-a-thon.

Can't do links, I'm afraid.

I wish it was magnified and in slow motion and showed everyone in shot all the time. And in perfect focus. Grin

GlitteryRollers · 30/11/2015 18:08

We know there are loads of celebrities that have been asked to do Strictly and turned it down. Richard Madeley, Alan Titchmarsh (both would be duffers I'm sure), Tim Henman also Rochelle Wiseman and her husband Aston Merrygold, though I fully expect to see them both on the show next year.

ChoccyJules · 30/11/2015 18:09

He also said there was plenty of Salsa content in K&K so am glad they got through.

AnyoneButSanta · 30/11/2015 18:19

The celeb I'd love to see on Strictly is Rio Ferdinand, who studied ballet and gymnastics intensively as a child. Proper male ballet ringer. I don't know whether he'd want to commit the time though as a single parent, I think his DC are still quite young.

SoupDragon · 30/11/2015 18:47

The reasons the judges gave for choosing KK were all about the technical aspect of their dance weren't they?
