And on we dance ...

OP posts:
digerd · 30/11/2015 19:28

I can't remember the few words they used. But just had a thought.
Where was K&Ks elaborate "Armography" so essential for the Salsa?

Just seen Pete on IT2 and he placed his cup cake beautifully in a graceful dance style as Craig wanted which he couldn't do on the night.

Jay and Aliona were on too. Jay said he found the dance-a thon exciting and ignored Zoe's question about why he wasn't placed higher as the viewers thought he should have been.
Jay is doing the rumba next and think it will be an elegant graceful style to suit Jay's own style and not a raunchy type. Didn't recognise the name of the music.

GlitteryRollers · 30/11/2015 19:39

Jay seems like such a lovely lad. So laid and unasuming. I think he will win.

emotionsecho · 30/11/2015 20:03

Yes I think Jay could do a good, classy rumba, hopefully one which Len will likeGrin.

The dances Jay hasn't done are Charleston, Samba and Viennese Waltz I think, if they are allowed to drop one I wonder which one they'll drop. I think Jay could do a classy Charleston like Sophie Ellis-Bextor or Georgia, I can't imagine him doing one of the awful comedy skit ones with all the daft face pulling and mugging to camera (I still have nightmares about the Chris Hollins/Ola Charleston) and I think he could do a very good Viennese Waltz and Samba.

I was hoping he do a samba to "I want to be in America" from West Side Story.

KurriKurri · 30/11/2015 20:40

Is it just one dance each on Saturday? - what will they be doing to fill out the show? when do they start doing two dances each?

Hoping Jay's rumba goes OK - I hope they've got the hint that Len wants rumba steps not just wafting, and class not smut Grin

AnyoneButSanta · 30/11/2015 20:59

I'm pleased that Zoe asked Jay about placing in the quickstepathon because that might mean she's going to quiz Karen quite hard and get some details tomorrow. Not motivated by JayWozRobbed here - honestly just interested.

emotionsecho · 30/11/2015 22:06

Good point Kurri, I wonder how they are going to fill out the show. They do two dances in the semi-final I'm sure then is it three or four in the final?

KurriKurri · 30/11/2015 22:25

IIRC- in the final they do their own pick, judges pick and their remaining new dance - then a show dance if they get past the first vote off.

Although I could be wrong- I missed last years final- my son very selfishly decided to get married on that day Grin

MrsJamin · 30/11/2015 22:57

This is the song that Jay is doing the rumba to: from the musical and film Once, it's an utterly beautiful romantic duet, it could be quite a "moment".

wowfudge · 01/12/2015 07:24

I think the difference between votes cast on X Factor and votes cast on SCD is that the contestants on that ITV crap X Factor are members of the public and the prize is not a glitterball trophy, but a career-launching recording contract.

AnyoneButSanta · 01/12/2015 07:29

Yes but DOI and IACGMOOH release(d) voting figures as well.

ppeatfruit · 01/12/2015 10:21

Well wowfudge I'm only watching it because DD1 is here atm. Grin I was comparing it with SCD and wondering which came first (who copied who with the OTT staging etc) though the Xfactor audience must've been given vodka shots and speed or something, they sound positively WILD compared to OUR bbc programme Grin !!

Annarose2014 · 01/12/2015 11:13

Can't believe I've been watching for years and didn't realise the Sunday show was filmed on Saturday night! Blush

Am I the only one who actively doesn't want Jay to win? From the neck down he's unquestionably superb, but from the neck up he bores me rigid. I find him easily one of the duller contestants. If this show is about personality as much as technique, then I really wouldn't want him to win over Anita or
Georgia.

Annarose2014 · 01/12/2015 11:16

And am I the omly one who doesn't find him even remotely hot? I just can't understand it!

.........I'll get me coat.......Grin

Costacoffeeplease · 01/12/2015 11:44

No you're not - he's the opposite of hot IMHO! He did a brilliant jive and..... fizzled out a bit - I had high hopes for the AT but that was also a bit of a damp squib. He needs to dial it back up a bit

ThursdayLastWeek · 01/12/2015 11:58

I don't fancy him either really - he seems very sweet but he doesn't seem to have much omph about him.

Clawdy · 01/12/2015 12:02

He is really sweet but he's like someone's adorable teenage son.

Clawdy · 01/12/2015 12:03

Would love him to win though. Smile

ppeatfruit · 01/12/2015 12:06

Annarose I think he's just very young and immature in a lot of ways, but he's a superb dancer, if it was just on personality then only the chirpy types would win (I'm thinking Louis here who was a bit shy and quiet but won because he also was brilliant, but had had a 'journey') I'm not sure what sort of journey Jay has had.

I still want him to win though, he's less frightened ,when interviewed, than he used to be.

digerd · 01/12/2015 12:15

I find Jay on the sweet side but do agree about his lacking in characterisation in his dance roles. Though his Tango was a very good effort.

The Paso is the dance with the most character especially for the man. Gleb was magnificent. Smile

Annarose2014 · 01/12/2015 12:24

Yes I agree Jay hasn't had a "journey". He started great with beautiful lines and speed, and with the exception of "that one time when he stepped on her dress", he stayed great. No huge changes really. I would argue no great evolution.

I notice they stopped talking about his lack of facial expressions once they realised he was never going to really emote that strongly. They got a "Wayhayyy" peck on the cheek during last weeks dance and.....that was it. Craig has wisely decided not to keep banging on about it anymore.

DH says that when he dances "He always looks like he's trying to do a really hard sum in his head" Grin

Yes Digerd There have been some really great dances in this series, I am enjoying it more than the last one,

Anita is extraordinary too. She's been lucky with Gleb. Grin

SheHasAWildHeart · 01/12/2015 12:41

I think he's naturally very shy and a bit awkward He didn't come across like that when he was in The Wanted.

I would guess that boy band members are very carefully managed as well, told what to say, what not to say, maybe even given semi-scripted answers.
