Love ceramics so hope I'm going to enjoy this one.

Can you just dig up clay from your garden to make a pot?

Love Sally Jo's bowl

BastardGoDarkly · 10/11/2015 21:56

Yay there's a thread!

Matthew for me :)

ILoveOnionRings · 10/11/2015 21:58

Surprised top potter was not Matthew.

SwedishEdith · 10/11/2015 21:58

James was lucky there but rather glad he's still there

Me too onionrings. He won the two little challenges and his basin was fab.

WotNoLoobrush · 10/11/2015 23:32

Jane's basin was indeed beautiful.

It's so interesting to observe their individual styles.

GruntledOne · 11/11/2015 09:16

Matthew wuz robbed.

DoreenLethal · 11/11/2015 09:21

a - Jane's tiles were awesome
b - Matthew's everything was fantastic - winning challenges, making the best basin yada yada yada...he was defintely robbed this week. I was Shock
c - I kept shouting 'how could you clean that sink' at Matthew. Well, not shouting - just saying to my OH [and he agreed].

DoreenLethal · 11/11/2015 09:22

Shouting at James - not Matthew. Pah.

rumbelina · 11/11/2015 09:22

I did a ceramics course last year having never done anything like it before so I'm loving this and it's making me want to go back and do more. I also tried a potters wheel - it is really fricking hard so they have my utmost respect.

I want to turn off when the presenter guy starts to cry though. Really???

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 11/11/2015 09:30

I missed the first one and it was just on last night and I was too lazy to switch over

I really enjoyed it. Was so sad for those with cracked sinks, HATED that blue and white rough one.

Also I did think that no one was being fooled by the 5-4-3-2-1 countdown, when they were focussed on some woman finishing up as those in the background were clearly malingering about with their hands in their pockets.

Also all the carrying of the pots to and fro to the kiln, that irrationally annoyed me

fortifiedwithtea · 11/11/2015 14:45

Why was Matthew not top potter? Shock

Why the hell didn't James get voted off, his basin was ugly and would cut your hands.

Sorry that happy smiley builder man was sent out the competition.

GruntledOne · 11/11/2015 15:57

They do seem to base their judgment fairly harshly on the technicalities - like in the first programme when someone came last purely because they hadn't completely finished, when what they had managed to complete was better than what some others had produced. So I suppose smiley builder man was completely downgraded because his pot cracked, irrespective of the fact that James' pot was ugly and unusable.

TheSpottedZebra · 11/11/2015 17:53

I've just watched this on catch up. I loved it.

I think it's ok to comment on Keith's hair, if only to marvel at how the programme makers matched his Prodigy - inspired do (as ikboo noted), to a brass band version of their song No Good. Genius!

Agree with the comments about James' bowl. He's a vet -surely he must have washed his hands a million times, he ought to have known better! I presume he has a cleaner at home and at work, as that thing was unwashable. Also, he must not live in a hard water area.

Loved turtle bowl, and Matthew's sink. I think Tom seems a bit of a dick.

WotNoLoobrush · 11/11/2015 18:57

Tom reminds me of Dara O'Briain (looks wise).

WotNoLoobrush · 11/11/2015 18:58

He looks like him a bit is what I'm trying to say.

Peregrina · 12/11/2015 11:08

Just found this thread. I'm glad that I am not the only one enjoying this. I did a little bit of pottery at school but had no idea how much was involved. I enjoy the explanations of the technical bits too.

lilygirl81 · 12/11/2015 12:41

So happy to find other people who are watching this. DH is an artist and has been really keen to try pottery, so this has been great. I quite fancy a try too now Smile

I have no idea how dreadlocks guy didn't get star potter, his stuff was way better than anyone elses.

I thought the same about the rough basin, I guess he was trying tor originality but forgot about practicality. I did love the heart shaped bowl they showed that he had made for his partner.

We are redoing our kitchen soon, I'm now thinking how great it would be to make our own tiles!!

RainbowDashed · 12/11/2015 13:08

I watched both episodes yesterday - loved it, but I'm a sucker for any kind of crafty / elimination type show. What I particularly love about this is the difference that the final firing makes to the colours, it goes in looking like something a dc might bring home from school and comes out looking amazing. You must really need vision and experience to understand how something is going to come out.

The judge bloke is lovely, I just want to give him a cuddle and make him a cup of tea.

Will deffo be watching each week.

SwedishEdith · 12/11/2015 17:56

Yes, I want to make my own tiles as well. I wonder if those kid's paint a pot places would rent out space in their kiln?
