It's only Marcus Wareing. Starts next week. Are we ready?

next programme tomorrow.

lurkingfromhome · 11/11/2015 07:29

Are these really the best chefs out of the tens of thousands (presumably who applied)? Really? Raw meat all round and a sticky toffee pudding that didn't work. They're obviously being selected because they're rubbish and therefore make good TV which undermines things rather.

But obviously I shall be watching avidly because of M & M Smile

mollie123 · 11/11/2015 13:53

oh dear - two threads on MC - which to choose Hmm
I have often wondered how the selected contestants are chosen (professionals Shock) when they seem to regularly serve up burnt or underdone food and why oh why are some of them so unhealthy looking - it must be the working in kitchens and lack of fresh air.
looking forward to tonight and 'cringing' at the skills test ineptitude.

squoosh · 11/11/2015 14:30

I nearly missed it! Surely ads should have been on repeat for a week alerting the nation to that fact that the glorious Marcus was returning!

That aside, they were very poor weren't they? Aside from sweet blonde fella who was nearly a florist. I'd be mortified if I was the catering college tutor guy.

And bloody hell, HOW annoying (and I mean way more annoying than usual) was Gregg? His constant bloody gurning and dramatic frowning was making me chew my fists in irritation.

lurkingfromhome · 11/11/2015 19:01

Yes! Gregg has turned into a total parody of himself. What was all the weird cackling about? Lord, it is not attractive.

DH has taken to doing it as well just to annoy me. It's working. Grin

ThursdayLastWeek · 11/11/2015 20:05

I would love to try an omelette Arnold Bennett, especially made by Marcus Wareing.

TheSpectreOfMorningtonCrescent · 11/11/2015 20:07

Food on a plank. Get in the sea.

This lot seem to be a bit better than yesterday's lot.

GrouchyKiwi · 11/11/2015 21:37

I was out last night so am catching up. The floating islands looked yummy, but I've eaten blue steak before (was supposed to be medium rare, bloody Parisians) and it was horrible so I didn't fancy Marcus' test. I do, however, really fancy a good piece of steak now.

Chefs at this stage are always mediocre.

mollie123 · 12/11/2015 09:24

ashamed to say I became a bit bored with MC and kept switching to ITV and 'Favourite Beatles No 1 songs' - sad to admit I knew all the words and sung along very un-tunefully Grin
Saw most of the second hour too while half watching the apprentice.
Is it me or are MC and the Apprentice less rivetting / enjoyable now
and why is it that the music from the 60s and 70s by real bands is more enjoyable even if a little banal lyric wise.
sorry - as you were - back to Marcus (who looks great IMO) and comments on the candidates.

mollie123 · 13/11/2015 08:53

Grin - no Greg last night - is he only in the elimination rounds looking like a spare part?

lurkingfromhome · 13/11/2015 11:33

You realise at the end of non-Gregg episodes how much better and calmer it has been with just M&M and no ludicrous cackling and gurning. He is totally superfluous to the whole programme.

squoosh · 13/11/2015 13:29

I felt so sad for Sam and his awful two courses. He was so sweet and it all went so very wrong.

Also, I wish someone would poison that ridiculously pompous Sitwell man.

And yes, so lovely to be Gregg-less. The man is an extraneous plank.

fourquenelles · 13/11/2015 15:59

I have said it before and I will say it again. Greg(g) adds absolutely nothing of any value to this programme.

IndridCold · 13/11/2015 17:54

I want to stab Greg(g)

With a spoon!

I find myself yelling at the TV 'Yes, but no one cares what you think you twat!'

chocomochi · 14/11/2015 19:35

Yes. Agree with all the comments re Gregg! Adds no value to the programme at all. DH always says to turn the channel whenever Gregg is presenting!

GrouchyKiwi · 14/11/2015 20:31

Gregg walked in front of our car at the Edinburgh Cake and Bake show a couple of weeks back.

The show is definitely more enjoyable without him.

StylishDuck · 15/11/2015 09:24

SIL ate in the same restaurant as Gregg Wallace a couple of years back and said he was an arse of the highest order. Snapping his fingers at the waitress and talking loudly about being on TV. Much prefer the show without him!

TheSpectreOfMorningtonCrescent · 17/11/2015 20:23

Anyone there?
How is boning and stuffing a rabbit comparable to making posh cheese on toast?
Taken an unreasonable dislike to Angela.

I'm here! Very pleased for Darren. When they said he worked for an international food company in Moray I was sure it would be Baxter's, and it is. I've always felt a connection with Baxter's since we went on their factory tour when I was little, a million years ago. If anybody should know about making a lobster bisque it should be a man who invents soup recipes for Baxter's.

mollie123 · 18/11/2015 06:56

would have been there but we had a powercut from 7.30 to 9.30 pm (gales) just as I was settling down to watch. Did I miss any 'nice' contestants? I hope Greg(g) was (not) particularly annoying Smile
as there is no BBc+1 is there any way I can see a repeat?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/11/2015 07:06

i player. Sometimes they repeat at odd times later in the week so yu could try searching for that.

Footle · 18/11/2015 12:07

I seem to be a lone voice here. I have no time whatever for Gregg but he seems a bit more subdued in this series. He hasn't yet done that hideous trap-door mouthed gulp, or the orgasmic Mate ! exhortation.

mollie123 · 18/11/2015 14:56

thank you Gasp0de - found it on i-player Smile and I could FFWD thru the bits that were boring
cannot believe there was ignorance on what to do to make a Buck Rarebit - stuff of everyday cooking back in the day.
looking forward to watching Q finals this evening - weather permitting!

Peregrina · 18/11/2015 16:58

I was astonished to see the Buck Rarebit challenge, and even more astonished when they messed it up. We did that at school, when we were about 13.
