Marcus is too gushy. I miss Michel.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 23/12/2015 21:28

Never mind what it looks like. I'm sorry, STRAWBERRY with PRAWNS AND BEETROOT?

BARF.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 23/12/2015 21:29

Sorry for shouting but I can't believe no one commented on the strawberry prawn combination.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 23/12/2015 21:29

I mean no one on the show, not no one here.

ABetaDad1 · 23/12/2015 21:35

Didn't like the risotto. It absolutely shouldn't be so runny it falls like a pool on the plate like that. Never mind the colour.

Liked a lot of the other dishes though. All the contestants did extremely well.

I watch it for the kitchens and the equipment really. Those big copper pans £200 each. I want several. In fact I want the whole kitchen and a garden like the one in Italy.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 23/12/2015 21:37

BetaDad I know right! That kitchen had a stainless steel (or chrome maybe) ceiling for crying out loud.

TheSpectreOfMorningtonCrescent · 23/12/2015 21:42

That risotto. Bleaugh. I once got hammered on that red Italian bitters stuff (sorry senior momento) and the resulting puke was very similar.
Fuck me were they not starving?

I don't really understand why Greg Wallace is on this programme. I know he has presented other food programmes and has been extremely successful in the greengrocery business and opened some eateries but he isn't a trained chef. Surely we need someone who is a chef who can explain some of the techniques, how difficult they are, how it can go wrong, etc.

TheSpectreOfMorningtonCrescent · 23/12/2015 21:45

Campari. That's the bunny.

CremeBrulee · 23/12/2015 21:48

Absolutely BetaDad Greg is embarrassingly bad. I don't think I'll watch if he's on it next year. Why not save on his doubtless exorbitant salary and just it to Marcus & Monica?

When Greg leered into view at the restaurant tonight it was like Carry On Masterchef!

JellyBaby26 · 24/12/2015 00:03

Jumping on here...

As annoying as Greg is, it is good to have an opinion from someone as a taster rather than a critic of the cooking methods etc. it's good when he disagrees with Monica and Marcus IMO

CremeBrulee · 24/12/2015 01:07

Yes but anyone can taste the food - please just not Greg!

MyFriendsCallMeOh · 24/12/2015 04:16

Did they eat that vase of salad with tweezers??? Wtaf?
And get please rid of Greg with his orgasmic noises where's the puking smiley when you need it?

JellyBaby26 · 24/12/2015 08:32

I agree, he is a massive bell end....

originalmavis · 24/12/2015 09:08

I am so excited about the final. Who will be crowned winner? It's very close but maybe Nick?

originalmavis · 24/12/2015 09:10

Just for the record - I disapprove of skidmarks smears on plates, teensy dots of sauce and tweezered food.

fussychica · 24/12/2015 10:27

Just looked up the set menu at last nights restaurant. It took me lots of guesses with my husband repeating "more" until we got to 180 euros -220 euros eachShock. How bonkers is that - lunch for two plus wine (no idea how much the wine is as the list wouldn't load)and service charge the price of a holidayShockXmas Shock. I'd still be hungry and probably drunk as there is so little food to to soak up the booze.

On the winner - sooooo close and they are all so lovely I don't really care though I have to admit to a soft spot for Scott.

ABetaDad1 · 24/12/2015 10:40

"...smears on plates, teensy dots of sauce and tweezered food"

I disapprove of foam as well. Its not food, its not a sauce, its air blown through a spoonful of liquid to make it appear bigger and more 'fine dining' than it is and thereby add £10 to the final bill.

Roussette · 24/12/2015 10:49

Looking forward to the Final tonight. Do find chap with glasses (Robochef?) very irritating and a bit patronising. Like the other two particularly the 'round' one, he was been consistently good.

DinoSnores · 24/12/2015 13:01

fussy, DH and I went to Midsummer House, Daniel Clifford's restaurant, a few years ago. We 'only' had the 7 course tasting menu and we were there for 3 hours and we were well and truly stuffed by the end! It was delicious. None of the individual courses were particularly big but collectively it was a huge meal and just lovely. It did cost us over £300, including the flight of wines, but was such a special evening.

I've got quite a soft spot for Nick and Scott, so would be happy if either of them win, but really they all have done very well.

JellyBaby26 · 24/12/2015 18:11

I really don't like nick he is so smug. Either of the other two. I like the guy from sarf London!

GrouchyKiwi · 24/12/2015 20:17

Can't decide whether I prefer the new insight into the chefs or the family info they used to do.

chocomochi · 24/12/2015 20:27

Oh no! Gregg's back!

I want Scott to win. He seems most down to earth.

GrouchyKiwi · 24/12/2015 20:29

Hate to say it, but Robochef's menu sounds amazing. I'd eat all of those. Not so sure about Nick's dishes.

GrouchyKiwi · 24/12/2015 20:34

Scott is really pushing himself. I'm not sure about his menu. Seems a bit odd.
