Grin Anyone else counting down the days! I actually get nervous thinking about it. I have re watched all series and reading the books to pass the time.

Can't wait to see what they do with Sansa and Tyrion this series. And will we see the hound again and lady stone heart?

Lol!

SerJorahsSecondChoice · 17/04/2015 08:30

Durr, I've only just realised that Danaerys is supposed to represent Cleopatra!

gingercat12 · 17/04/2015 16:00

SerJorah Never thought of that before. Thanks.

yumyumpoppycat · 17/04/2015 19:42

Ooh I don't know much about Cleopatra what are the similarities ... queens in the desert?

Just been on a thread called 'what shall i watch on netflix' and it made me remember that GOT was a guilty pleasure when I first started watching it as dp saw a particularly grim episode of series 1 with me and thought it was the worst thing ever and I was a total freak for liking it !

Lweji · 17/04/2015 20:05

Did she marry her own brother?

Cleopatra had power mostly through sleeping with powerful men. Daenerys not so much.

Cooroo · 17/04/2015 21:28

Cleopatra being of Greek descent was a white queen in an Arab country. With pyramids. And lots of incestuous marriages to keep the line pure. That about exhausts my knowledge of Cleo.

Lweji · 17/04/2015 21:40

Egypt at the time was not yet Arabic. It was Egypt. :)

Cooroo · 18/04/2015 09:32

Sorry - it was my clumsy shorthand for 'not white but not black' - I knew whatever i said would be wrong either poltically or factually!

Trills · 18/04/2015 10:33

Not convinced that there are many other parallels between Dany and Cleo.

I'd like to see them etam up to fight crime though.

Cleopatra was supposed to be CLEVER, right? And not actually that pretty, but good at seduction nonetheless (a bit like Anne Boleyn).

Danaerys is beautiful and has dragons, but not particularly clever and hasn't done amazingly at persuading anyone to do as she wishes without resorting to force.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 18/04/2015 16:00

Re-watching Episode 1, can I ask a question which probably has a really obvious answer but I'm truly forgetful and can't remember!?

Why is Jon Snow calling Stannis "Your Grace"? Is it simply because he. showed up and helped with the battle? Or does he know how rotten the Lannisters are and recognises Stannis as the rightful king? I can't remember if Jon knows they were responsible for the Red Wedding?

I know this is such a daft question but there's so much to remember and re-remember!!

Lweji · 18/04/2015 16:06

Because all of Cersei's children are by her own brother and not children of King Robert Baratheon?

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 18/04/2015 16:26

Ah, does Jon know that, then? Who told him? I guess I missed that being common knowledge.

Lweji · 18/04/2015 16:34

Isn't that the reason Stannis claims a right to the throne?

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 18/04/2015 16:37

Oh yeah I guess it is! Why aren't more people weirded out by the fact then? Did Tywin just choose not to believe it?

Cooroo · 18/04/2015 16:55

Seem to remember in the book Stannis sent out ravens to everyone tellimg them about the children being Jaime's? May have got that muddled, it's beena while

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 18/04/2015 17:07

That's my problem...I read the books ages ago and I get muddled with the different plot developments in the TV show. Confused

Trills · 18/04/2015 17:20

Yep, Stannis sent letters (via raven) to everyone he could think of saying "Robert has no legitimate children, therefore I'm next in line, kay?"

Trills · 18/04/2015 17:22

In the last season before this one I enjoyed Pod and Brienne - and him being useless on the road but good at things like "this heralry means this family, they are allied with that family but they hate lots of other people".

A god squire for a politician like Tyrion, not quite so good out in the world.

Vivacia · 18/04/2015 18:41

We caved and watched episodes 2 and 3 this afternoon.

Cooroo · 18/04/2015 19:08

I will resist. I will. Actually watching GoT is a lovely ritual that I do with DP and DD, so I wouldn't cheat.

yumyumpoppycat · 18/04/2015 20:46

Really annoying about those episodes as I signed up to now tv especially, to add insult to injury I can no longer get now tv to work on my PC as google chrome, firefox and internet explorer cant use the software on nowtv. Not tempted to watch ahead yet though.

OttiliaVonBCup · 18/04/2015 21:50

What do you all watch this on?

I don't have Sky Atlantic, what else is it on?

yumyumpoppycat · 18/04/2015 23:03

You could check what offers www.vouchercodes.co.uk/nowtv.com?rc=2781997 there are for nowtv, and methods of watching it. It is £6.99 a month without a box. There are usually a couple of back episodes on catch up so might be worth waiting especially if leaked episodes are available.

yumyumpoppycat · 18/04/2015 23:05

Watch on your NOW TV Box, Chromecast, PS4™, PS3™, Xbox One, Xbox®360, Roku, YouView†, LG Smart TV, PC (bah) or Mac, Mobile*, Tablet and more

AldiQ7 · 20/04/2015 10:20

Oooh I am so excited because due to getting the entertainment package on NOW TV, for the first time ever, I can watch GOT in real time - we have always been like 2 series behind but have now caught up. I feel like i am finally properly part of the human race or something, and I can join in the mumsnet threads!

I think I am going to abandon the books, I am 25% through book 4 and after all the excitement of book 3, it's quite slow and dull. Plus I was starting to get pissed off and the deviation from the books, and DH was sick of me saying 'well it wasn't like THAT in the book!'. So from here on in, I am going in blind and I am really excited!

In ep 1 I totally thought that that Unsullied who was murdered was Greyworm and they had just changed the actor - I was so glad to see him alive and well! What is going on with the Unsullied going to brothels, Daenery's servant girl (can't remember her name, the one from Hollyoaks) seems concerned that he Unsullied aren't behaving in the way that eunuchs normally would?
