Grin Anyone else counting down the days! I actually get nervous thinking about it. I have re watched all series and reading the books to pass the time.

Can't wait to see what they do with Sansa and Tyrion this series. And will we see the hound again and lady stone heart?

OP posts:

Me too with the darkness! I normally catch up with it during the day and have to have the curtains drawn so there's no sun on the TV! Sometimes I have to go right up to the screen to see what's going on!

Ramsay is just chilling! Poor Sansa!

Love Diana Rigg - so classy in it and did a little cheer at the end when Cersei got her come uppance. Surely Tommen has more power though, he's the king fgs, thought they could do what they liked?!

Hated the prison scene with Bronn and the constant boob close ups, no objection to nudity if it's integral to the story but as PP said it was line, tits, line, tits.

Trills · 30/05/2015 00:53

I'm not finding it too dark at all on my TV...

TheFirstOfHerName · 30/05/2015 21:47

Why does Gilly's baby never get any older?

Trills · 30/05/2015 21:55

Because it was born (as all TV babies are) aged over 3 months.

TheFirstOfHerName · 30/05/2015 21:59

But the character must be three or four years old by now?

Trills · 30/05/2015 22:13

A year is not passing in each season. Not by a long way.

TheFirstOfHerName · 30/05/2015 22:25

It feels like more than a few months has passed though.

BingoBonkers · 31/05/2015 09:00

Ramsay is vile. The actor plays him brilliantly. Same goes for Cersei. What else has that actress been in? She seems familiar.

The guy who used to be Khaleesi's right hand man - the stone men thing on his arm? Does that mean he will turn into one?

TheFirstOfHerName · 31/05/2015 09:03

I think that if you get grayscale, it can progress to stone man stage. Shireen received treatment to halt the progress of the disease.

herfrom2doorsdown · 31/05/2015 13:19

Lena Headey was in 300 amongst others.

Annarose2014 · 31/05/2015 15:05

I've always been a secret Danaerys/Jorah shipper. I guess if they're giving him grayscale that ship has metaphorically sailed. Sad

Trills · 31/05/2015 16:05

Lena Heady was also Sarah Connor in the Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Most people who get greyscale just die.

Shireen is very very unusual iin having just a bit of it.

AmberFool · 31/05/2015 22:14

Finally caught up with episode 7.

Maester Aemon. RIP. Nice that they put in that line of "Egg, I dreamt I was old."

Dorne. I want to shoot myself every time the story goes there. That scene with the boobs was just completely off putting - are the show runners just teenage boys? Yuck. Pointless storyline with Jaime and Bronn there.

Whilst I hate the Sansa in Winterfell storyline, Reek's character rings true to the books - he would have gone to Ramsey with the candle. I do think that both Sansa's and Theon's arcs have been diminished in the TV show. And in the books, the Winterfell storyline was the most gripping, what with sheer horror for Jeyne, the pathetic shell that was Theon, Bran communicating through the weirwood, the ghost of Winterfell and the Frey Pies. And Theon saving someone who was not Sansa (so nothing to gain).

AmberFool · 31/05/2015 22:21

And is Dany not going to fly off and find herself and find the Dothraki at the end? Is there not going to be a great battle?

Cooroo · 01/06/2015 06:28

Been away with no access to Sky! DD, DP and I caught up last night and I can stop avoiding spoilers - and there's another episode tonight! Yes whole Dorne story embarrassing. Little cheers for Sansa's weapon and Cersei's arrest.

AldiQ7 · 01/06/2015 07:36

Have been on holiday and have finally caught up, yay!

I was going to ask about Gilly's baby as well - the baby was born in what, series 2? It must have been around the same time that Myrcella was sent to Dorne? But when Jaime went to get her, Myrcella said that Dorne had been her home for 'years', and yet baby Sam is still only about 5 moths old tops?! Myrcella was definitely around for a good while before she was sent away, I'm sure it wasn't in the first series?

Agree that the scenes in Dorne are a bit 'Carry On' what with the boobs and the costumes and everything!

In the books was Jeyne the girl who Sansa was friends with right at the beginning? Or was she the girl that Robb married (and who wasn't even at the Red Wedding in the books!) I have all but given up on the books after just getting stuck on a really borin bit about Asha Greyjoy and some 'nuncles' or something, so I never got to the 'fake Arya' bit I don't think.

gingercat12 · 01/06/2015 09:32

Aldi The timeline in the show a bit embarrassing. Bookreaders obsess about timeline, so it is not impossible to make timing vaguely credible.

Jeyne Poole was Sansa's friend. I'll never forgive book Sansa dumping her the way she did, although I do not wish Sansa ill. How is that different from what happened to Cersei's friend?! Anyway I digress, Jeyne Poole is fake Arya - currently in the middle of the Battle on the Ice. Hope she will not have to suffer any more.

Jeyne Westerling is Robb's wife, whom will soon see again. GRRM said we will catch a glimpse of her in the prologue of The Winds of Winter.

AldiQ7 · 01/06/2015 09:32

Also, what is going on with Arya and the heads? Do people go and drink than water to commit suicide/euthanise on purpose, is it a place known in Braavos? Are the heads of the people that Jaqen H'ghar morphs into, is that how he does it? Is she training to do the same thing (become 'nobody'?) Is that horrid other apprentice girl him in disguise, she really freaks me out!

Can't believe Lady Stoneheart isn't in the series, that was a real Shock moment for me when I read that!

AldiQ7 · 01/06/2015 09:35

Thanks ginger - I wasn't ignoring you I cross posted with my next set of questions. Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 01/06/2015 10:22

Grin at Asha and her nuncles

Narvinectralonum · 01/06/2015 10:26

In the books, events in different POVs are not taking place at the same time, necessarily. The books get increasingly timey wimey (even before TREE VISION comes into play). This is pretty clear from the text but has also been underlined by GRRM several times in interviews, blogs etc. There is a fan mashup of the last two books (Google A Ball of Beasts) which tries to make a coherent linear timeline but with limited success. The telly has tried to make things linear and has messed about with or ignored some timeline indicators. In telly world we know that when Cersei talks to Oberyn she says that she hasn't seen Myrcella for over a year. And that was some time ago. In the telly baby sam was born during season 3. So, some time after Myrcella left. The Telly cuts down on the appearance of time by having people say they are going somewhere then, next episode, there they are. But in reality it takes weeks to get anywhere. Bits of the books are like travelogues, the Telly has cut all that out.

Today's episode was superb, better than I dared hope. We even had 'oh FUUUUUCCCCKKKK' which tallies nicely with the book... Really well done, that was. Put world war Z, walking dead etc to shame.

Narvinectralonum · 01/06/2015 10:55

Aldi They seem to have made a conscious decision not the include any of the facial disfigurments that are in the books (see Tyrion's nose, Brienne's cheek...) I guess Cat's rotted face and cut throat were beyond what they considered acceptable. It's also possible that when everything is finished Stoneheart will just have been a peril in the woods to enliven all the travelogue bits. She's not in play (she can't take the throne, she's not going to beat the walkers, she can't have any link with Dragons because she's not first man blood, or a skin changer, or anything like that). She's there to kill Freys but the show hasn't focussed on the Freyicide really, and we don't, on the telly, have the real sense of just how many Freys there are.

One thing I thought was particularly good last night was Tyrion saying how the Starks and the Targs were all gone - when the viewers know that's not the case (and now Sansa knows about the Starks). However since Tyrion also knows there are 2 Starks living, anyway, I suspect he was being disingenuous with Dany for a reason - I doubt that he does, in fact, trust her. Her treatment of Jorah was a bit shite and that won't have passed him by. It was in fact extremely similar to her father's treatment of Jon Connington (apt since Jorah is obviously now being both in the telly version).

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 01/06/2015 12:39

What an INSANE episode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Episode 8)

It was really, really well done.

AldiQ7 · 01/06/2015 12:48

Lol, right must make sure I don't come back to the thread for now, as I can't watch episode 8 until tomorrow night Sad

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 01/06/2015 12:56

Aldi I won't say anymore (until other people do!) but it's worth waiting for! Grin
