Yes Ocean PaulHollywood's comments were so funny about her\him 'not weighing anything' I don't (well not on scales anyway!) and my cooking's a damn sight better than Edna's Grin

SoupDragon · 26/02/2015 15:52

They are being kind :) I loved the part where David supplied the phrase "a bit shit" when Paul was struggling with what to say.

SoupDragon · 26/02/2015 15:53

Was it "a bit shit"? Having typed that I'm not sure as that seems wrong for the time of the programme. The principle remains!

Maybe it was "disgusting"...

BellaBearisWideAwake · 26/02/2015 15:55

I liked when she said she didn't want to take her rings off as she didn't trust anyone in here

Oceanpurple1 · 26/02/2015 15:55

Haha Bella that was hilarious!!

No you're right Soup I remember being a bit Confused maybe they bleeped it ?

Oceanpurple1 · 26/02/2015 15:57

Tbh, Dame Edna should appear every week. Or have her own cooking show.

ppeatfruit · 26/02/2015 16:16

Barry Humphries is getting on a bit now. We saw his show, so un P.C. but so funny, must've been 17 years ago ; we gave him a lift home Grin and he was asking me questions about the dcs names etc.

Oceanpurple1 · 26/02/2015 16:19

No way! That's amazing.
I've seen Sue Perkins in Edinburgh once - but I suppose that's not the same thing. Grin
Was this in Aus or the UK?

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 26/02/2015 16:21

I don't think they did bleep it. In fact, I think they used it on the trailers!

Lloydgeorge · 26/02/2015 16:48

I always wondered how Michael Sheen could attract such beautiful women. I kind of get it now. And i thought Sarah was lovely too, very different to what I expected.

ppeatfruit · 26/02/2015 16:52

In the uk Ocean dh is in the business Grin.

Davros · 26/02/2015 17:36

Am I in the minority? I think Dame Edna is sooooo unfunny

SoupDragon · 26/02/2015 17:38

I think Dame Edna is dreadful, always have.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 26/02/2015 18:10

Sheen.

Yes.

Even though his baking skills are cack.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 26/02/2015 18:14

Jamilla comes across as very dim where food is concerned.

"what's a quail's egg?"

"I don't think I've ever even seen a pork pie^"

Yes, I'm watching on iplayer.

Sarah is excellent but not very entertaining.

Mitchell is entirely "meh" for me.

Hopefully this ep improves. Bland so far.

Oceanpurple1 · 26/02/2015 18:48

ooh ok ppeat Wink
I don't know, quite liked Jameela

OP posts:
iklboo · 26/02/2015 18:54

Jameela was getting on my nerves a bit. Surely no-one can be as dim as she was coming across.

Michael Sheen has a lovely accent. I'm a sucker for a Welsh voice....

SoupDragon · 26/02/2015 19:21

People can come across as dimly as the film editors want them to :)

iklboo · 26/02/2015 20:44

This is very true Soup!

susiella · 01/03/2015 17:28

In that case Soup I'd be pretty annoyed with the editor if I was Jameela.
Very dim.

theliverpoolone · 01/03/2015 22:01

Editors don't make up what she's saying though - "I've never touched butter", "what's lard"....Hmm

SoupDragon · 02/03/2015 04:30

I suspect there are a lot of people who haven't touched butter or who know what lard is. There's no need to touch butter in a pastry making way unless you are baking and lard isn't used as much as when I was growing up - I've never used it in cooking.

I'm not saying she's a genius but I suspect some editing was at work to pull out all the daft comments. She's worked in TV so will be well aware of how editors work.

Piratejones · 02/03/2015 12:50

I keep missing this and catching up on iplayer, i can't seem to work out what day it's on.

Millionsmom · 03/03/2015 08:18

Made the pork pies today. I mean how hard can it be??

I thought they used 'mini' tins, turns out they are normal size - first mistake.
Quails eggs - yuk.

Result, 12 dinky pies with eggs in which are not very nice. I even undercooked the eggs - said to cook for 2 mins, I cooked them for 1and they were still over cooked. Over cooked eggs are not nice in anything.

The 5 extra pies I made with the left overs are okish, probably because I left the eggs out. And used Delias cooking instructions.

I hate Paul Hollywood and his daft recipe.
