A local bakery makes them with meat from a local farmer. Use by date is about 2 days after you buy it. The pastry melts in the mouth, the jelly is almost addictive and the meat has real texture.
I hated pork pies till Dp brought one of these home. And now we are among the crowds trying to get to the bakery before they sell out each day.

Madame, did you read what I said up thread? My brother is a master butcher and makes pork pies like you describe. They are nothing like pork pies as people imagine them. But you generally won't stop people imagining them as dried up, jellied lumps of cholesterol.
