So frustrating watching this - surely some of this parenting falls into the neglect category?

DDs water refusing was compounded by the fact lived in Cyprus. I had a choice between juice and dehydration - after two hospital admissions I chose juice.

Thankfully we managed to turn it around as she got older, and DD was never given fizzy drinks.

I suppose the difference between me and some of the other parents is that I know it was my fault, and knew what I needed to do about it.

Tallulas mum and the teenagers mum just don't seem to want to accept any blame or to do anything about it.

ghostspirit · 18/02/2015 22:52

have we had there its to exspensive to eat healthy food yet?

BeautifulPain · 18/02/2015 22:52

I'm shocked! I feel so sad for these children Hmm

HelenaDove · 18/02/2015 22:53

ghost ive found doing SW more expensive because of things like eggs.

21pc · 18/02/2015 22:54

Why would they agree to be on this program?!

redandwhitetoadstool · 18/02/2015 22:56

typical channel 4 type programme

theres lots of children with great diet that get hyperplasia of the teeth etc

HelenaDove · 18/02/2015 22:56

21 i said the same thing to DH. i KNOW what kids can be like and im worried these kids are going to be bullied at school.

ilovesooty · 18/02/2015 22:56

Poor little thing.

avocadotoast · 18/02/2015 22:57

Helena, muscle doesn't weigh more than fat at all. Plus he went for an 18 min run, he'll hardly build muscle from that (source: bamboocorefitness.com/one-pound-of-fat-versus-one-pound-of-muscle-clearing-up-the-misconception/).

Also, eating healthily isn't just SW Hmm

HelenaDove · 18/02/2015 22:58

YY Red and white My dad had a condition where he had to have all his teeth pulled out and that was in the 1950s.

ghostspirit · 18/02/2015 22:58

i have not watched it yet so just following the thread really. just wondering does it get harder as they get older. my son is a bit over weight. but i cant always control what he eats.. ie hes in the house alone some times or he might get up before i do and he has proper tantrums over food sometimes. gos on and on about how hungry he is.

honestlies · 18/02/2015 22:58

if you can afford the premium convenience food, you can afford to eat healthily

madamginger · 18/02/2015 22:59

I'm opened mouthed at tallulahs mum. That poor child.

ghostspirit · 18/02/2015 22:59

what does SW mean???

HelenaDove · 18/02/2015 22:59

I know that avocado but its what works for me. What your post does show though is that overweight ppl are still frowned upon even after theyve lost the weight.

angryangryyoungwoman · 18/02/2015 23:00

Shocking, sad programme.

HelenaDove · 18/02/2015 23:00

SW= Slimming World

VirginiaTonic · 18/02/2015 23:00

1 pound of anything weighs 1 pound. What a silly point to make. You know full well that Helena meant muscle weighs more when compare to the same volume of fat!

EveDallas · 18/02/2015 23:01

Ghost, I always have a full fruit bowl in the house. If DD says she is hungry in between meals then she can have fruit - if she isn't hungry enough for a banana, then she isn't really hungry Grin. It works for us, and DD isn't at all overweight.

HelenaDove · 18/02/2015 23:03

YY Virginia And im guessing Raj went for more than one run. Or did you expect several of his runs to be shown in a one hour programme avocado.

HelenaDove · 18/02/2015 23:04

YY Eve ive found a love of blueberries.

HelenaDove · 18/02/2015 23:06

Instead of just using scales the docs should be using a tape measure to show ppl that their shape is changing.
If only the number on the scales is counted when muscle weighs more it could put Raj and others off of excersise.

ghostspirit · 18/02/2015 23:06

whats slimming world got to do with eating healthy :/ i once filled my freezer up with junk from icelands. nuggets/burgers/pizzas junk like that. i found everyone was hungry a short while later wanted to start snacking not long after.

when i bought lots of meat. like chops/mince/chicken/rice/pasta/veg made proper home made food. like shepards pies and things like that they were full for longer enjoyed it more and it worked out cheaper because the snacking stopped.

BMO · 18/02/2015 23:06

Veg is a better snack than fruit especially for an already overweight child.

OP posts:
HelenaDove · 18/02/2015 23:09

slimming world IS a healthy diet So much so that a modified version is recommended for pregnant women.

I lost a lot of weight on it.................yet thats still not good enough? The hatred doesnt end after the overweight person loses the weight does it!
