Spiral is back next Saturday, series 4. BBC 4 at 9pm.

Phewph, what an ending. A bit unsatisfying really...

No justice for Sandrine and Lucie, so much death and destruction because of Oz and her mother-complex.

We knew the baby didn't have much of a chance but why would she (with her new found love for the baby) rush a crazy with a box knife? I've shot her, myself.

Any why would a policeman dob in a colleague to an informant that he was bonking his girlfriend?

TheFarSide · 15/02/2015 17:28

Thanks AD. I've found that site. I want to be PM'd by Thierry too.Grin Grin

Panicmode1 · 15/02/2015 19:46

ARGH - why do the writers always rush the last episode - there are SO many annoyances after such a brilliant run to that point!

When's the next series, anyone know Grin?!

diddl · 15/02/2015 20:40

Do we think that Laure will lose the baby?

How would it work if she didn't?

We don't see much of her home life, so would her juggling a baby & work be interesting?

Sammy3 · 15/02/2015 20:51

I really enjoyed this series, much like I did with the rest. I actually like that they left so many unanswered questions since programmes that tie up all the loose ends annoy me since they don't leave anything to the imagination. I'm guessing it's why we like Spiral so much. But, I did think the bit where Laure lurches at Oz was a a bit silly & only served to leave us on edge about the baby. They could've done that so many other (more realistic) ways. Can't wait for the next season now.

Sammy3 · 15/02/2015 20:59

Diddl, and what about Laure's love of casual sex? Having a baby would change all that so maybe they'll let the baby survive so she can struggle trying to settle down & control her urges while hiding the truth about the baby's possible real father, who will turn out to be Sami of course.

wowfudge · 16/02/2015 10:35

Well I thought it was great - was on the edge of my seat and I can nod off during any gripping TV show, but not with this one!

I think Laure was anxious to free Charlotte without her going through any more trauma and didn't want Karen to get away after all she's done.

Real life is messy - I like that Spiral doesn't neatly resolve everything.

TroelsNextCampaignManager · 16/02/2015 11:17

See, I saw the Laure thing at the end slightly differently.

Laure slightly flinched when Karen's mum said she was an accident and she wished she'd had an abortion. Given Laure's own conflicting emotions and decisions about continuing with the pregnancy, I think she felt Karen ended up so destructive because of that rejection from her mother and at the end she was trying to "save" Karen in spite of everything. Perhaps to face justice, perhaps just to make sure she didn't ended up joining the toll of death and destruction surrounding this group of people by drowning.

wowfudge · 16/02/2015 11:22

Did Laure know she couldn't swim? But I agree it was open to interpretation.

wowfudge · 16/02/2015 11:27

I wondered if Gilou tipping off Djibril was tit for tat for Bremont possibly being the father of Laure's baby? Laure shouldn't have told anyone Djibril was about to get busted but I can only think Gilou was putting the boot in on the other team's operation. I can't imagine he felt he owed Djibril anything?

diddl · 16/02/2015 11:36

"I can't imagine he felt he owed Djibril anything?"

Obviously not as he was shagging his girlfriend!

It's more the wider implication of Ziani getting off that pissed me off.

wowfudge · 16/02/2015 11:59

As his informant was what I meant. I think Gilou just blurted it out because he was pissed off and thought Djibril was being an arse.

Ziani was very much a secondary plot line. I wouldn't be surprised if he featured in series 6.

chockbic · 16/02/2015 14:43

Laure was far too nice to Karen. Some people are simply bad!

Does anyone know when Series 6 is coming?

TroelsNextCampaignManager · 16/02/2015 18:34

chock I think the answer to your question is not soon enough Grin

None of the victims or their families received justice in Series 5, did they? Quite bleak, really.

chockbic · 16/02/2015 23:09

Ha I know. Hurry up Brew

Spiral doesn't seem to do happy endings. Or if they are, not for long.

We could never call it predictable. Roll on the next series.

aloiseb · 17/02/2015 14:50

Troels I don't agree about Karen's mum sorting out Karen's (aka Definitely a boy) swimming just because of the water park visits. She didn't look to me much like the sort of Mum who would be bothered to sort out swimming lessons, more likely to hope she would fall in.....

And another thing...I think Gilou had a happy escape when he was arrested. Otherwise, he was going to turn up posing as the buyer for those stolen print cartridges, and be mashed to bits by the lovely Zach who had already seen him with a police badge on his arm at the hotel ...ShockShock

waitingowaiting · 17/02/2015 17:35

I thought Karen was a man for ages too...

TroelsNextCampaignManager · 17/02/2015 21:06

Aloiseb I agree, I don't think the mother would have cared enough to get her sorted with swimming lessons - but I assumed Karen would have ended up splashing around in the water if she was there often enough, iykwim.

AmazingDisgrace · 25/02/2015 18:44

Attention Thierry Godard fans...I've posted on the Un Village Français Facebook page asking for a DVD release with English subtitles. If a few of you do the same we might be able to convince them...Audrey Fleurot (Josephine Karlsson) is also in itSmile

aloiseb · 28/02/2015 23:50

Troels I expect she would have done. Poor little Lily, makes me wonder how she will turn out (oh no, forgot they are imaginary again.....sorry......)

Can't wait for series 6 anyhowWine

Any takers for a swift leap to the Mr Selfridge thread? Know it's not the same but at least we get to see Pierre again!
