Well, the RAF pilots weren't half bad. As I was actually going up in one of the aircraft with one of them, it probably ranks as one of the most exciting days in my life! (And not the kind of thing you can just buy with loose cash). Walking out across the tarmac with about six pilots, all six foot and over in all their gear, with helmets, anti-G suits and the lot did take a bit of beating. I can still remember it as if it were yesterday. Was very apprehensive though - I just didn't really know what to expect!

I've held off mentioning this in our earlier threads just in case there was somebody who knew me - it would have been a dead giveaway - but to be honest, I don't care any more!

Nickel45 · 17/12/2014 16:36

Wow ilove that sounds amazing, you must have a brilliant job!!! (Was it work or pleasure ... or both?!)

Ilovelblue · 17/12/2014 16:58

Nickel it was sorted out because of where I worked (and was somebody keen to impress and show off) but it was entirely pleasure, trust me! It was one of those things that I appreciated all the more afterwards - was pretty apprehensive beforehand, thinking "J*sus, what have I agreed to?" I had to go to Valley for 2 days and had to be fitted up with the kit, ejector seat training.... the works. By the time they had finished getting me dressed, I weighed about a stone and a half heavier than previously! The helmet weighed a ton.

Imagine little me, 5'3", having to wear boots belonging to 6'+ pilots...... and running across the tarmac to keep up with them. They had to pad my boots with about four pairs of socks. They also had to stick lots and lots of sick bags into every available spare pocket in the flying suit just in case.

I've been wanting to mention it for ages, but you know what it's like when you wonder who else is on this thread! I just don't care now though.

One of those things I will never forget - gives me a thrill talking about it, even heaven knows how many years later.

Richtea19 · 17/12/2014 17:10

ilove how amazing, you lucky girl!! What an amazing exprerience to have had and certainly a talking point.

My DS is desperate to join the RAF, he just needs to get his GCSEs! If he put as much effort into his school work as he does for the Air Cadets he will be ok... But sadly not!! I have just hired a tutor at a great expense to help with his studies. He looked about 20 years old! All the teachers are young though, I get told off at parents eve if I mention that one of the teachers is young and handsome!

pixieg1rl · 17/12/2014 17:25

Ilove, I have the top gun theme tune running through my head just thinking about it.

I hate flying, I'd have needed every sick bag on the base and horse tranquillisers to get me to do such a thing.

elsie3g · 17/12/2014 17:26

iloveblue that is very cool !

New bit of Fanfic worth a look at:

Another evening of partying for me too so catchup laters. Don't know how I'm going to get through another evening without my fave MN thread, so just had another gawp at icemists pic of lovely CJ in headset and stern mode, sigh

Ilovelblue · 17/12/2014 18:11

pixie I guess you wouldn't have taken up the offer! I wasn't quite sick but when he turned the plane upside down and the G suit kicked in, I was very close. It was amazing and it was that weekend that fuelled my attraction to military uniforms! The pilot was nicer than the Top Gun lot. British military uniforms are better.

I've certainly bared my soul today to you lot!

Nickel45 · 17/12/2014 18:14

That's awesome ilove, what an opportunity! And a fantastic memory (I would have been so tempted to say "I feel the need .... " I woul have been lobbed off the plane before I even left the ground!).

Have fun everyone who is out tonight (cjwoof, not too many loo trips to check on your phone!!)

icemistOBE · 17/12/2014 18:29

I liked that FF a lot! Quality smut.

apsara03 · 17/12/2014 19:08

catching up after a busy day of RL. Giggling away at your blow by blow commentary cjwoofwoof and the uniform comments and Just been asked by DH whether the noise I was making was a happy noise, which in my exhausted state, sent me into laughing till tears ran down my face. You really all are a fab bunch :)
will be looking forward to the fan fic for bedtime reading.
off to do market research on milk - which will buy and end of term take away tomorrow night

Richtea19 · 17/12/2014 19:08

On my way home from dropping DS off at party, and can't wait to get back for smutty FF!!! G&T too!

Beingfrank · 17/12/2014 19:09

Ive just managed to do something which has put all the posts so far on this thread on one page. No idea what but I don't suppose it matters!

Talking of soul baring, I've been thinking for a while I'd like to know a little more about each of my OG thread friends. I'll go first, hope some of you will join in!

I'm 47, married for 23 years, 4 kids (girl, boy, boy, boy) in that order. Eldest nearly 18, youngest are 11 year old twins. I work school hours and term time so I don't get much alone time to indulge my unhealthy interest in this thread and CJ! Live in SW London but originally from NW England.

Anyone else want to share a few details?

Richtea19 · 17/12/2014 19:11

Orphan, how was your Christmas shopping day with DP? Any combat sitings made for Operation Bulge, boots on the ground and agents on the streets!!! All for research purposes of course!!!

icemistOBE · 17/12/2014 19:19

Ooh I'll join in...
I'm 40 and have 2 boys, 5 and 18mths. Married and originally from rep ireland.
Don't get much time to myself and this whole CJ addiction has really caught me out! But so glad I joined in the chat here

Nickel45 · 17/12/2014 19:37

I'm in! I'm 45, one 7 yr old boy, 7 and a girl, 4 ... who doesn't sleep!! I work 2 days a week ... and live west of London, but originally come from near Baz Vegas! (If anyone on here knows me that should confirm it, gulp!!). Can't believe I joined an online chat thread thingy, but loving every minute of it!

Richtea19 · 17/12/2014 19:44

icemist I hate being late too, we always arrive early, much to my families annoyance!

Ok I'm in too - I'm 47, I've been married for 16 years. I have two sons, 15 and 12yrs. I'm not working, but have an elderly father (I lost my mum 6yrs ago) who takes up a lot of my time! I help run my husbands business, paperwork stuff. I have a huge imagination and quite frequently live in richteas world! I have never joined in on an online chat site before. I live in Kent, and lastly I have a massive crush on a fictional character!

galaxy99 · 17/12/2014 19:52

I work the same sort of hours as you beingfrank. I live in NW England, am 43, 2 boys 12 and 8 who are always fighting. Have been married for 20 years. Has anyone noticed that whilst we have given away snippets about family, where we live etc very few of us will reveal anything about our jobs? I wonder what a psychologist would make of that. I have never posted anything online before this, I only came across the thread whilst trying to find spoilers for who died before episode 5 aired. I have spent far too much time indulging my all things OG obsession but this thread is such a laugh.

Beingfrank · 17/12/2014 19:57

Interesting we are all 40 plus. BBC were obviously spot on with that target demographic Smile. As you were...

Beingfrank · 17/12/2014 20:00

40 plus so far, I meant to say.
