I'm doing a last minute taking up of a hem that had fallen down on a dress and wipped out my soft tape measure, I can't stop giggling now!

Ilovelblue · 24/12/2014 18:32

I agree with pixie and cjwoof - I had my DVD on pre-release via eBay (though it was distributed from Amazon but was £2 cheaper on eBay. Never did understand that). I do wonder if I'm going to wear it out. Am watching episode 4 as I write this.

Had an unplanned Christmas Eve as I ended up having my five year old nephew here due to a major family crisis at his house. Thankfully, I am all prepared foodwise (mainly as we are out at friends tomorrow and the rest of the food is either in the fridge or freezer) so I took him for his first time to the cinema to see the new Paddington film. It was lovely though I am so emotional at this time of the year that I cried at the end. Don't think my nephew even noticed as he had been so excited about going to see his first film.

Must confess that when we had to sit through the interminable adverts and trailers at the beginning, I was reading klipdoctor's latest offering. I liked it - a different theme to the others we've been reading.

For those who know far more about ff than I do, do any of the writings ever get taken up? I think I know about the Fifty Shades and Dr Who but I really have to say that some of the writings coming up (Pixie's, SPO's and the CJ Collective obviously but there are others) are pretty good, though there are one or two not quite so good. Still laughing about the one where it said CJ "cacked himself". It is sooooooo not our Captain.

For those of you travelling and/or without wifi over the festive period, a Merry Christmas and come back to us soon!

xx

Nickel45 · 24/12/2014 19:03

My two are so excited! They are even behaving . . . We saw Santa fly overhead, so kids know he is watching!! Had a bit of a panic as suddenly realised I had forgotten to buy mince pies for Santa. Went to sainsbury and they were shut!! Pleaded with nice guy on the door (with my son going 'but we need mince pies'!!) Who finally relented and let us in. What I lovely man. Have to say, sincethisobsession started, in much more confident now, last year I would have given up!!! Right, last minute wrapping, packing, cooking and drinking (Baileys here I come), must focus up!

Rhubarb01 · 24/12/2014 19:17

Nickel was it the space station flying over. My DH said he'd seen it going over as a very bright light. Useful for claiming it was Santa but he wasn't amused by my suggestion that it should have some multi-coloured flashing lights for Christmas!

Yes I made it back here just in time for Christmas so can Wish you all happy festivities again!

Ilovelblue · 24/12/2014 19:42

I felt really confident too Nickel as I went to collect my winnings from the Strictly bet last Saturday. Completely forgot about it until today and could hardly drag my nephew in there earlier so then it slipped my mind again and only remembered about 4.30 tonight. There wasn't a soul inside and the two guys behind the glass just looked at each other as if to say "What's she doing in here?" I braved it out and said "Well, it's better than donating to the William Hill Christmas party, isn't it?" and then dashed out with my £30. In the past, I've always taken somebody else in for moral support!

cherin · 24/12/2014 19:43

iloveblue, I hope the Xmas eve was really magic for your nephew, it sounds like a lovely idea to watch paddington together, and his first cinema trip, too!
(I know it's different, but years ago we had to take some third-line-relative-kids out for the day because of a really tragic event -their old and frail grandpa had commited suicidd- and we went to the beach and we splashed and we laughed and we kept them busy for hours on end, I don't think they ever realised what really happened and makes me feel better)

nickel what a lovely sainsbury guy, am sure he's on santa's good list! (Carrots for Rudolph? Just checking, uh!)

(I am so knackered I think I am going to hit the limoncello even without supper. As soon as this kiddo shuts off!!!)

Richtea19 · 24/12/2014 19:59

nickel how fantastic to see Santa, and how exciting for the children and what a lovely sainsbugs man! We will leave carrots, they obviously don't beleive, but we all go along with it because of the littlies in our family. We had a strange dinner tonight, so much food in the house but yet nothing to eat!

I have been doing last minute wrapping listening to my OG soundtrack, the wireless speaker is the best purchase made. DH is actually ok listening now, brainwashed I think :)

We had some shocking news this afternoon. Some close friends of ours that split up two years ago (he left her and her 3 boys on Boxing Day) they got back together 8 months later and renewed their wedding vows, then he left again about 6 months afterwards. He announced today on facebook that he is with his new partner, a man! All very shocking, I don't have anything against his sexuality at all, but just really upset he put our friend through it all twice. I do hope BA isn't gay...

Read the M rated QS this afternoon and read right through from the beginning. It was very good, lovely christmas present for us!

Ilovelblue · 24/12/2014 20:00

What is it about alcohol? I've just realised that all but one of the meals I've pre-prepared and put in the freezer have either Guinness, red wine or white wine in them! Best be careful when throwing the empties out - don't want the neighbours thinking they have a raving alcoholic in their midst. Hahaha.

icemistOBE · 24/12/2014 20:01

One boy in bed, mince pie, milk and carrot ready.
Just a few things to wrap once 5yo asleep.
Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and those who are waiting on the dvd get it!
Hoping BA tweets something - will keep an eye on it and copy for those who don't go on Twitter should he do so

Ooh, lots to catch up on!

rhubarb how can you suggest such a thing? of course it was the real Santa!! (Well, ok, it might have been the space station ... But maybe that's just what they want you to think, all I could see was a bright light, whose to say it wasn't really Santa!??!)

cherin I remembered the carrots, everything in place, including the magic key hung outside the door ... We don't have a chimney so Santa uses a magic key! I think I'm almost as excited as the kids ... Or maybe that's just the overwhelming exhaustion kicking in!

Well done ilove, this new found confidence is brilliant! Biting my lip and thinking of CJ helps every time! Mental or what!

richtea, that's completely shocking! Did your friend know before he put it on Facebook? Wow!

icemist yes, please let us know when Ben tweets to say how wonderful we all are :)

I was also thinking about the ff (far more often then I should be!) and wondered whether the FB it had mentioned Our Zombie Girl at all. I imagine that they must all read the ff?

Right, must do something towards preparing for tomorrow, laters Xmas Smile

Ilovelblue · 24/12/2014 20:43

Richtea - what a way to find out. I do think Facebook has a lot to answer for. One of my work colleagues split up with his wife earlier this year and he put that on FB, then they got back together, so again he announced it on FB and then they split up again. At the moment, he's with a Portuguese girl about 15 years younger than him and there are sometimes photos on FB with his tongue halfway down her throat. Not very appealing but the worst of it is, he has a 15 year old daughter who will herself be on FB. What on earth must she think? I use FB myself but I like to think I am relatively circumspect in the things I post. (I am far more forthright on here, come to think of it).

cherin · 24/12/2014 20:46

Eheheheh, the "sexual fluidity" is not exactly a new concept and that's not the first time I hear this story (with main characters belonging to either sex). It still hard on the relatives, particularly if the split happens twice in short time and 3kids are involved. But some things can't be helped, unfortunately. I really, really hope your friend can have a good Xmas no matter what. And more importantly, a new year that is full of promises of better tides. Because really, life is too short to waste it worrying about things that can't be changed. The only thing we can change is our own behaviour, accepting our feelings, and holding our head up.
Xxx

cherin · 24/12/2014 20:49

(When I wrote that some things can't be helped, I wasn't including the public display of tongues or even simply relationship status on FB. I consider that both bad taste, hurtful and very stupid!)

Richtea19 · 24/12/2014 21:02

My friend did know, now that I have spoken to her, but just didn't have the courage to tell everyone. Apparently the two eldest 18 and 16yr new whole truth but youngest 14 didn't. Just not very nice to announce to their common friends via FB, especially as his new profile page on FB is of him and boyfriend, all "lovey-dovey"
She is bitter and angry, but with all her friends will make sure she is ok. It really does make you grateful for what you have. I am the first one to have a moan about my DH but actually I am very lucky to have such a caring, loving husband.... Still don't think I've got an Xmas present though! (We need a new bathroom)

Drinking wine, seems to be a common theme amongst us and watching James Bond :)

icemist praying for a BA christmas tweet!

Nickel45 · 24/12/2014 21:47

That's really tough on her richtea, and on the kids. I hope she's ok, sounds like she's got some great friends, who will help her through. You're right, though, it does make you grateful for what you've got. I'm sure a lot of us moan about our other halves, I certainly do!, but you wouldn't want to be without them.

I've just seen an advert off bluestone 42 on BBC and there is a Christmas special on Saturday morning, I think at 2:30 am. It's a repeat, but I've not seen it before (probably not something I would have thought of watching before OG, but now really like it!).

Christmas greetings all!

I have finally had a chance to catch up on some of the thread (there's loads I've missed but hopefully nothing too important....apart from the Xmas card to BA...Xmas Sad

That said, I am now in possession of my very own CJ MUG!!!! Secret Santa well and truly delivered last Friday at the team Xmas do and I fell in love all over again at the dinner table.

Having a relaxing Xmas eve this year for the first time in ages. Off to my parents tomorrow for the day as was initially on call for work, but luckily, another colleague stepped in, but as I'm back in on Boxing day, decided it would be nice for someone else to do the cooking for a change. So instead of my usual sherry fuelled emotional mammoth spud peel, I'm drinking red wine and catching up online.

Anyway, a few more pressies to wrap for DS then probably will turn in before the wine gets the better of me. Next few days likely to be a bit busy (there will be the endless lego kits to put together, although I'm hoping DS and DH will have some lego boy bonding while I'm at work on Boxing day), so will take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas and look forward to more fun and frolics in the New Year. xxxx Xmas Wink

icemistOBE · 24/12/2014 22:25

Ooh very jealous of CJ mug.

No tweet as yet!

Ilovelblue · 24/12/2014 22:58

Stressybird - oooh, which picture(s) is/are on the mug? Are your lips on him as you drink?

Nickel45 · 25/12/2014 00:00

A CJ mug, nice one ... I'm vey impressed your secret Santa took your very unsubtle? hints Xmas Wink.
I'm hitting my pit now, and up early in the morning, to hit the motorway, so goodnight, and a very happy Christmas to each and every one of you x

Had a lovely day today (despite eldest coming down with a bad cold and being a teen boy is unable to be remotely sociable!) ending with carol service, mince pies and drinks with friends, tracking Santa on NORAD and now drinking Baileys whilst waiting to fill the stockings. Even though they're both well past believing, I'd hate them to see us doing the stockings - and it's fun tiptoeing around, trying to avoid being heard!

Have a truly fabulous Christmas everyone! I like to imagine us all spread across the country and abroad (cherin Smile) celebrating in different ways but united by our lust admiration for CJ and MD (spoSmile).

icemistOBE · 25/12/2014 07:24

Happy Christmas.

(Christmas morning pics, thank you icemist :))

cherin · 25/12/2014 07:58

Merry Christmas to all Xmas Smile
The unwrapping went as predicted (3yo bossing the 11yo around and screaming and pestering)
Lots of Lego here, too. Bless the Danish designers!! That's excellent to keep them busy

Now 60miles south to meet half of the family, and tomorrow 400m north east for the in-law side. Are we not good at keeping oil company into business??

Beingfrank · 25/12/2014 08:29

Merry Christmas everyone!

No cooking for me - off to sil's today and, my sister's tomorrow (except I am designated gravy maker at sil's - no one in dh's family can make proper gravy!).

Hoping I might get the DVD - will have to wait out for another hour or so!

Xmas Smile
Richtea19 · 25/12/2014 09:22
