Ditto to what you have all said about reading, I haven't touched my kindle since October. I have also stopped watching TV (apart from the obvious). I usually love The Apprentice, Homeland etc, etc and have stopped watching them all. I always used to put the news on as soon as I got up, now it's thread and fan fiction checking

orphan that is great news about getting the presents back

icemist great photos, just what I need to cheer me up this morning. Lady luck decided she'd hit us with the sh*t end of the stick one more time in 2014. I have had several close relatives really ill this year and just as things seemed to be looking up I got the news that my gran is really ill. She is very old and frail and things don't look good.Sad

Richtea19 · 20/12/2014 08:08

Well I'm awake too early from a late night and I have a bit of a fuzzy head.

Today is a family christmas shopping day, and then meeting up with friends for dinner tonight. It's lovely being away, but I keep thinking of all the things I need to get on with at home!

DH still asleep fortunately I have my ear phones and OG on the IPad, so I'm sorted! :)

Richtea19 · 20/12/2014 08:12

galaxy so sorry to hear about your gran. Christmas can be a very stressful time.

icemist lovely photos, I bet he is London this weekend catching up with mates and post work related stuff and then heads back to Devon next week.

cherin · 20/12/2014 08:41

I also haven't touched a book...I am still reading the one about the female spies during WW2 (including noor etc...) but can't really concentrate.
(It's also a much darker story than I anticipated, I see now that getting that into a movie would need either a complete skewed perspective to take some of the SOE scandal out, or it'd be more of a political documentary....not that inspiring...)

What do you do when neighbours upstairs wake you up by pressing the buzzers for 5 bloody minutes at 2am (probably in proper drunk state)? The fact they stomp and make lots on noise is a given- floors are superthin, even Elle mac person would walk heavily in there...but buzzing and not even apologising...? They woke all of us up...grrrr

moojangles · 20/12/2014 09:08

Might gonna need you lovely ladies to be brilliant. Will be off to my modern technology free zone Mum's house...no Wifi... What are all the books that you're not reading?!?
Jealous of all your festive celebrations, hangovers not so much.
Good luck to all with poorly kids, and to all in the final stages of Operation Xmas. Focus up( by the way if you accidentally say this to a room of teenagers they will look up)Xmas Grin

Nickel45 · 20/12/2014 09:18

galaxy so sorry to hear about your gran :(

I'm the same with TV, I used to watch apprentice and master chef, this time I've recorded then, am so behind with watching them and couldn't even tell you who was in then. I was watching the pre-interview apprentice last night and still couldn't tell you the names of the four who are left. Just do not interested!! What has TG done to us!!

moojangles · 20/12/2014 09:23

Posted too soon

galaxy, very sorry to hear about your Gran x

Richtea19 · 20/12/2014 09:32

Cherin we had upstairs noisy neighbours when DS was a baby, I got so fed up I got a broom handle and banged it on our ceiling, didn't achieve anything other than making marks on our ceiling. I suppose the only think is to go and talk to them, but unfortunately these days you never know what sort of response you're going to get!

apsara03 · 20/12/2014 09:58

Just got young DS into costume for nativity rehearsal. Wonder if the young BA was as much of a drama queen!
galaxy so sorry to hear about your gran. X

orphan · 20/12/2014 10:13

Looking forward to today - The Hobbit and meal out. Finally feeling festive (sorted my cocktail ingredients, replenished the gin, bought some gorgeous old style coupe cocktail glasses) and happy to be on Christmas hols!

Yes, need to have a Fall discussion. (Disappointed the silk shirt seemed too be ditched in favour of knitwear though)

galaxy so sorry to hear about your gran though. Will be sending positive vibes to you! X

galaxy99 · 20/12/2014 10:14

nickel they definately missed a trick not bringing out a soundtrack CD. I also think they should have brought out a special deluxe MN edition of the DVD with CJ on the front and a free bonus lifesize poster.

cherin it is awful having inconsiderate neighbours but I can recommend ff through all the best bits of episodes 1-5 as a cure for lack of sleep. Are you DSs getting any better?

Thanks for everyone's kind words. You lot are the nuts!

elsie3g · 20/12/2014 10:42

Sorry about your gran galaxy

Thanks to people for waiting out on The Fall, now watched so from my Pov let's chat..

Hands up if you've watched it...?

cherin · 20/12/2014 10:44

galaxy I only have episode 3 and I haven't watched it for weeks, as I think I overdosed...I thought I'll leave it until new year to see if I forget some lines in the meantime :-)

DS1 is off the sick, DS2 is evolving from temperature to just-a-cough, but it's good progress. He also ate something. Hooray. Little steps ;-)
In the meantime, i have developed same cough but must find time to run or I'll get crazy. Home trapped for 2,5 days...and DH is sour like a lemon today. Bah humbug.

I liked the red knit, it was a nice wrap-around, I still could not understand her thinking behind it (she clearly choose it for the interrogation instead of blouse...why? She opted for Red like a matador?)

Ilovelblue · 20/12/2014 10:44

galaxy thinking of you. It's never good at any time of year but especially when the media would believe it's all sweetness and light and happy, jolly folk when you are feeling anything but.

So glad I'm not the only one to have abandoned book reading at bedtime and ignoring favourite TV programmes. I love Strictly, The Apprentice and Holby. Usually tune in to Emmerdale a couple of times a week as well but saw it on Thursday and realised there were three plot lines I hadn't a clue about! Nickel I too have struggled with the contestants of The Apprentice. One of my (male) colleagues and I have always had a discussion about the task the following day when one contestant is fired, but I've let him do most of the talking this series - and half the time I've not really watched it properly. He definitely wouldn't understand about CJ/BA/OG. As for Strictly, how can I tell my fellow dancing followers that I have abandoned the glitz and glamour for men in combats, headsets, gammy legs and swinging microphones?

Off to the coast today with the friend I am going to Bailbrook House with and will swap presents as well. I forgot when we agreed on the date that it was my Strictly party tonight but I will just have to eat less at lunchtime to compensate. It's pretty blustery up here so might need to wrap up, though not especially seasonal as I wouldn't say it's very cold.

Focus up all those doing last minute Christmas shopping! xx

cherin · 20/12/2014 10:48

Ot: have you seen this? www.wedmagazine.co.uk/real-wedding-devon-emma-oliver.html
Musical, lovely family!!

Ilovelblue · 20/12/2014 10:52

Oooh, bet he looked rather nice in his wedding finery. I wondered what the connection was going to be until I scrolled down!

cherin · 20/12/2014 13:06

The link was on the wiki page of BA, I wasn't stalking his family...just for the record! I thought she'd be an actress too and wondered what she looked like...she's actually a primary school teacher :-)

Nickel45 · 20/12/2014 13:28

Good find Cherin :)
We must all be very busy today. I've actually braved sainsbury and sorted going to my parents for 4 days! This afternoon going to take the kids for a long walk as they are already doing my nut in!!

cherin · 20/12/2014 15:04

Very envious! I am already under ibuprofen as I feel the kids' proximity has already affected my health ;-)
(Not the mental health- that was gone longe before!!!)
But we'll fight this off, yes we'll do! Combat mode!

(Too many exclamation marks, I know. Must be the drugs ;)

cherin · 20/12/2014 15:08

Oooooohhh...following a little note i left, the noisy neighbours knocked at the door and brought some chocolate, with heartfelt apologies!! They look about 18yo, must have been their first drunk Xmas do??

Shopping bags are being returned, wallet found, apologies received...is it then true that Xmas is when people are in best behaviour?

Richtea19 · 20/12/2014 17:09

That's good about the neighbours :)

Just getting ready for another evening out. It was lovely and Christmassy today. Canterbury is such a beautiful city, we might try to go the cathedral tomorrow to see if there is a carol device. That will bring on the tears!

Richtea19 · 20/12/2014 17:10

Device??? What happened there? Service!

Ilovelblue · 20/12/2014 17:39

Back from a very cold coastal village near Morecambe Bay - it was damp and very miserable. Hardly seasonal but at least we escaped the hordes of shoppers in the towns. Been a bit wary of mentioning too much to my Bailbrook House friend as she had previously called me sad even though she had watched OG and thought CJ was to die for. She has no idea about MN or the numbers of times I have watched the DVD! Anyway, I had sent her one of the photos icemist found for me of BA and LT with the director as they shot the restaurant scenes and fortunately she was more forthcoming this time and said she wanted to sit at the same table where it was filmed! I won't feel uncomfortable now if I am asking for full details from the reception staff if she is on my wavelength!

Getting ready for my Strictly party - best get the vacuum cleaner out before they turn up.

Enjoy your Christmas activities whoever is out and about on the town tonight.

icemistOBE · 20/12/2014 18:42

Quick check in. Just come back from the Hobbit. (Legolas kicks ass!) Really struggled to stay awake for the first half due to a combination of latenight, the dark, a comfy seat and big glass of red wine. Had to mainline strong coffee during the interval to perk myself up! Now getting ready to go out for a meal. Bublé is on, cinnamon candles burning and am feeling so excited that it's only a few more days til I get my hands on the dvd! Operation Bulge from the comfort of my sofa! Grin
