New thread here

OP posts:
SpanishFly · 09/12/2014 07:41

I was just reading that Caroline and her boyfriend have split. Hence why she looked so anxious/disconnected from it all on Saturday. Rachel Riley must be feeling twitchy.

Mrsjayy · 09/12/2014 07:44

Well pascha is hot quite attractive is he still with R R

SpanishFly · 09/12/2014 08:27

Yes he's still with RR. But it'll be interesting to see if anything unfolds.

GrouchyKiwi · 09/12/2014 09:09

I never saw the Pasha attraction till this year. He is rather lovely.

I'm also still bitter about Sophie's Charleston.

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2014 09:11

Looks a good lineup for the Xmas spesh. Xmas Grin

I agree about Pixie OnlyLovers There was something very 'entitled' about her and Trent.

Mrsjayy · 09/12/2014 09:26

Oh sophie is dancing with Aijaz fab and Robin is back Grin I was drooling over Alijaz then read he was 24 and gave myself a talking to

digerd · 09/12/2014 09:42

I find Alijaz very mature for a 24 year-old and Pasha has also matured since his arrival when I thought how cute he was.
I like the strong silent type Smile

OnlyLovers · 09/12/2014 09:45

Anyone see ITT? One of the guests said they thought Caroline had danced before, and Zoe got flustered and said 'No, I don't think so ... oh I get so confused' and moved on hurriedly. It's very dishonest and annoying.

OnlyLovers · 09/12/2014 09:46

Hello, ppeat! I'm relieved you agree with me about Pixie Not a Lott. I sometimes feel like a kitten-killer on here. Grin

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2014 10:45

Hello only Xmas Grin YES I did notice Zoe's reaction, Tim Wonnacott (sp.?) said it. I've been trying to work out why; is Zoe told NOT to get into controversial discussions? I like her actually, but it's odd as you say.

R4roger · 09/12/2014 10:51

yes to Zoe, I noticed that, she looked like a rabbit in the headlights!

OnlyLovers · 09/12/2014 10:52

Yes, that's right, it was Tim.

I know Zoe says often that she's not allowed to show favouritism, which is right IMO. But there seems to be total lockdown on anyone mentioning Caroline's previous experience. Several of them appear to be trained in some kind of dance (Frankie and Pixie for sure, maybe Sunetra), and to be fair they seem to have avoided mentioning their backgrounds too, but the Caroline thing seems particularly pronounced.

Is it because her experience comes from a BBC show (Dancing on Wheels) and it could be considered corruption or incestuous or whatever?

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2014 11:10

IIRC at the start of the show they did say that Pixfrank went to stage school but were not ballroom trained. I suppose if you did ballet at an early age, like most of us, it would make it easier to dance anything because you have a FEEL for music etc. Pixie was very balletic actually.

OnlyLovers · 09/12/2014 11:19

Pixie must have had ballet training. You don't get such long stretchy hamstrings by accident.

And isn't Frankie's mother a ballroom teacher or something? I think her arms and upper body look balletic too.

Mind you, Sunetra's mother was apparently an Indian dancer and she's gone, so it doesn't always help ...

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2014 12:06

Yes you generally do ballet at stage school. Interesting to think that Darcey probably wouldn't do so well in Strictly, they're different dance forms aren't they?

GettingJiggyWithIt · 09/12/2014 12:16

Caroline did a fair amount of training on Dancing on wheels and enough to win then enter the actual competition with her partner so it is bizarre.
Frankie must have done a bit of prep with her mum pre series surely? Would exam why her first dance and posture was so good.
Simon will have done some -crap- choreo as LWMOB.
Jake and Mark surely did some stage school dancing.
Sinatra like Jake had interacting chops and a bit of Bollywood behind her.

This is why I was rooting for JudyMoo!

OnlyLovers · 09/12/2014 12:17

I remember Darcey performing a ballroom routines, probably in her first series on the show. She was excellent, of course, but yes, she did look slightly 'not right' in ballroom – the qualities that make a great ballet dancer like fluidity and softness don't quite fit with the style of ballroom, and her limb extensions were almost too long and too much!

GettingJiggyWithIt · 09/12/2014 12:19

explain not exam.
Sunetra not Sinatra.
acting chops.

Stupid.Bloody.Kindle.

OnlyLovers · 09/12/2014 12:25

I liked 'interacting chops', Jiggy Grin. An oddly apt typo, considering a lot of acting IS about interacting ...

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2014 12:43

I find on my nearly new laptop it 'corrects' sometimes wrongly, I have to remember to reread before posting, I don't know how it works on a kindle, really interesting typos though Gettingjiggy Xmas Grin

Ref. Darcey, did anyone see her dancing Fred and Ginger stylee in her own show before she went on Strictly? She was learning ballroom in public !

OnlyLovers · 09/12/2014 13:00

Oh, that rings a vague bell but I don't know if I watched it. What was it called?

mazylou · 09/12/2014 14:46

She did some kind of tour with Katherine Jenkins, Viva la Diva? Was that it?

She also did a jive with Ian Waite, pretty good as I recall.

Tensmumym · 09/12/2014 17:21

Thanks for the explanation Pandora and Polka. Interesting that Mark hasn't mentioned that he was at the Sylvia Young Theatre School for 10 years see here I wonder if he might have done one or two dance steps there?

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2014 17:26

Yes Tensmum he definitely would have, they all dance there (our DD1 was on her books and we went on a tour of the place).

OnlyLovers · 09/12/2014 17:31

That's interesting! Both Mark and others have gone on at some length about how he was a 'total novice' and had 'never danced before'.

I don't really mind if people have a dance background – the ones who are technically the best dancers don't ever tend to win anyway –but to actually dissemble about it is pretty dubious, IMO. On the parts of both the contestants and the BBC.
