New thread here

If it was the comment about him being on speed, what on earth is offensive about that in a lighthearted tv chat?!

CMP69 · 30/11/2014 20:31

It was Spanishfly Sad Was a bit of a thing that he is very different this series. Maybe not the best choice of words

OwlCapone · 30/11/2014 20:44

There was nothing delete-worthy at all!

SpanishFly · 30/11/2014 20:52

CMP, that's just weird - it's a silly chat we're all having, no need for offence to be taken. He IS clearly on something!

Behoove · 30/11/2014 21:14

How about, KFG has an abundance (gettit?) of adrenaline Grin

Sunetra was the obvious choice to go tonight, she was sweet but had reached her potential.

It gets serious now and even the good dancers need to watch their steps.
Onwards and upwards...

TheSpottedZebra · 30/11/2014 21:16

No, see, I had an excess of adrenaline and I did not look like that! So now I am offended.

(I'm not actually offended btw, but if feels like it's my turn to be po)

Behoove · 30/11/2014 21:21
Grin

Can't remember the last time I had an abundance of adrenalin Wink

OP posts:
TheSpottedZebra · 30/11/2014 21:25

Adrenaline is overrated.

Anyway, am better now, so the knackeredness has resumed.

Icimoi · 30/11/2014 22:38

Did no one on production realise that the stupid 'round the world' theme could still have been maintained by placing the Argentine Tango in, oh I don't know, ARGENfuckingTINA??

And also by placing the Viennese Waltz in Ausfuckingtria?

Talking of which, aren't they supposed to spend a certain amount of time in hold in dances like that? Pixie seemed to be out of hold an awful lot. Time was when Len would have had something to say about that, and would also have hated all that messing abaft at the beginning. Has he been told to stop worrying about the rules?

OohOod · 01/12/2014 06:59

Yes number of lifts used to be mentioned all the time too.

digerd · 01/12/2014 08:38

As entertainment goes, the most viewers are not interested in rules which make the dance less interesting. Lifts are exciting to watch. Len talking about heel leads and too much gapping is boring .
The VW can be boring danced by untrained celebs to watch so Pixie and Trent performed more of a ballet Pas De Deux which they knew would appeal to Darcy and the public.
Len got booed too many times for critising technique I think he has given in/up.
The show is all about the ratings afterall and has been successful in beating the X factor.
It has become more of a showdance than ballroom dance contest though.

OnlyLovers · 01/12/2014 09:50

I agree with digerd above; it's becoming less and less about actual ballroom and more about props, lifts and themes. It's very patronising –they obviously think the audience all have the attention span and intellect of tiny children.

I felt really sorry for Jake and Janette. Someone obviously just decided to give them a novelty AT. They made the best they could of it.

Simone and Kristina were gorgeous. I've really taken to him and think he's become much nicer as the series has gone on.

Mark was overrated; he was messy and there were too many tricks and not enough just salsa dancing.

Frankie was both frenetic and dull. Kevin thinks they've won it already but I think he's in for a disappointment.

I'm sick of Pixie just doing ballet and high-leg stuff. That routine was sickly and the costumes were ghastly. I think wardrobe were told to make them look like Disney characters.

Caroline is good but I just don't really like her. Interesting that they make a point of repeating over and over that she hasn't danced before, is a novice in etc, when in fact she's had recent ballroom training.

It was Sunetra's week to go; she had reached her limit. I'll miss her though. She and Brendan didn't look like they liked each other over the past few weeks. What happened?

OohOod · 01/12/2014 10:30

I thought she was great last night. Knew she had done her best and time to go. Much nicer like that ( thought Steve and Judy were the same).

OwlCapone · 01/12/2014 10:36

I hadn't noticed that. I noticed they say it all the time about Mark and Sunetra.

OnlyLovers · 01/12/2014 10:40

Owl, it's definitely been said! It comes up on ITT sometimes but I'm sure they've said it on the main show too.

I've just read that Sunetra's mother was an Indian dancer and Sunetra describes Indian dance as her hobby ...

But obviously it didn't give her THAT much of an advantage. Grin

OwlCapone · 01/12/2014 11:29

Sunetra describes Indian dance as her hobby

Might that explain her wafty arms? My perception is that there are a lot of arm movements in Indian dance. Although perhaps not wafty ones.

I honestly don't recall them saying about Caroline not dancing before. Interesting how we hear different things! I don't watch ITT though.

digerd · 01/12/2014 11:31

Caroline is definitely dance trained with those legs and feet and the way she presented herself / performance in the American Smooth.

Dotty342kids · 01/12/2014 11:45

I found this weekend's Strictly really daft! Those bloomin' extra dancers just distract you from watching the main couple.
In fact, this series in general is driving me a bit mad. Props galore. Themes all over the place that make no sense whatsoever. Too much dodgy music which clashes with, rather then complements the dancing.

Gawd, I sound about 80yrs old! I promise I'm not Grin. But really, can we just watch good dancing, with music that feels right with it and stop arsing around with extra "stuff"?

Are you listening, Strictly producers?!

iklboo · 01/12/2014 11:47

Ooh now I don't actually know a lot about ballroom dancing but even I said to DH 'is Pixie ever going to get in hold here' on Saturday.

OwlCapone · 01/12/2014 11:48

I quite like the extra dancers. certainly in some cases it adds to the performance but it does move it towards show dancing.

Dotty342kids · 01/12/2014 11:52

As for the contestants this week...

Mark and Karen - he was definitely rushing through the moves but I loved Karen's feathers and his enthusiasm. Hip rolls weren't bad either Blush

Sunetra and Brendan - I liked the soft, floaty feel of it and always love watching Brendan, even with his little podge. But she was the right person to leave.

Jake and Janette - poor things having to choreo an AT to that music. Bloody madness! His dancing wasn't the best we've seen, but he'd have got through much better if he'd had proper AT music, and without those pesky extra dancers

Pixie and Trent - again, what the hell were those extra dancers doing? And why did they do a "Single Ladies" move (the extras)? Totally bizarre. But liked the basic dance. Technically brilliant but they never really "move" me.

Frankie and Kevin - again, too much pratting around with props. Her hair distracted me no end but thought her dancing was really good, especially keeping up with Kevin

Caroline and Pasha - really liked this one. Lots of good Charleston moves and Pasha always makes sure she shines. Well deserved marks I thought.

Simon and Kristina - not a huge Kristina fan and find Simon irritating off the dancefloor. BUT, a lovely dance, lovely music and movement and just as it should be. Well done to the pair of them!

Pandora37 · 01/12/2014 12:04

I forgot to mention it, but I was wondering exactly the same thing about Pixie's backing dancers. Them suddenly bursting into Beyonce distracted me from the main dance. I was killing myself laughing at the complete randomness of it so much that I was more interested in them than Pixie and couldn't take the rest of it seriously. Very odd move to put in but it was funny.

Snowstorm · 01/12/2014 13:33

We've got a whole week of them all going OTT on ITT about the excitements of the 'waltzathon' (yawn) next week ... Hmm

Icimoi · 01/12/2014 13:38

So if there are sixof them in the final, does that mean that at some point two people get booted, or are there going to be four in the final?

Icimoi · 01/12/2014 13:38

Sorry, I meant if there are six in the quarter final.
