I think that scene was well done peppermint, he seemed a huge and terrifying presence there. But I also agree that if it been a bunch of MNer in that room he would have been totally ambushed.

I don't think Stella had any desire for Paul, she was ever the professional and attended the person who was in the worse condition.

She looked distressed coming up the hill, and Paul took pleasure in that. She wanted him alive so he could be locked away.

Also, a bit of a manipulator's wet dream, that Stella would fancy Spector...reinforces the 'she wants it' myth from rapists etc.

This programme does play to women's biggest fears doesn't it? Deranged psycho man in a women's refuge - absolutely terrifying prospect.

I couldn't bear the way they made murder and rape so enticing. It was like some rapists wet dream.

"Ohh I'm so powerful and the sexy lady detectist will fancy me and whisper at me and everyone else will be scared of me which is very sexy, and it will feel soon amazing to kill people because it will heighten all my senses which makes me even more attractive' blah blah yet again

I really don't want her to be attracted to him for exactly those reasons Benoit. But those final moments were uncomfortably intimate.

I've enjoyed this series and I hope there is a third. I think the ending was ok, a bit predictable but it left me begging for more. GIllian ANderson has been mesmerising during each episode. I also liked the appearance of Merlin bloke.

But she didn't even look at Merlin,...it was very much presented as her having a thing for Spector , shame!

You're not alone in how you felt Optimistletoe1, I felt like it was cut of almost midsentance.

Not one to be too bothered by inconclusive endings, I was fine with Amber and The Missing, but that just didn't feel like it was the end but, as I said before, mid scene!!

Yy Treaclepot, but at least it wasn't as gratuitous as the first series IMO. I was really put off to the extent that I nearly didn't watch the second series.

But I don't think she did have any feelings for Merlin - other than being attracted to be, as in the first series it was seen that she just fancied him and had sex, nothing needed after.

Though the whole thing with Spector did feel a bit as if she was desperate to keep him alive not to punish but beause she wanted HIM alive

I think Stella has just become obsessed with capturing Paul. That's why she aided him when injured - to see the process through he has to be alive.
But whoever described it as 'uncomfortably intimate' had it right. He seemed to have an unlikely look of satisfaction on his face for someone shot in the gut.

I agree that the performances have been mesmorising this season.
Personally I found the first series a difficult watch, and was relieved at the more traditional psychological thriller-y-ness of this series.

X posts benoit. I was very close to not watching it to the end. Also very predictable by the end.

Clearly they weren't going to let merlin die.
They killed off the first bloke Stella slept with, they could not pull off this twice.

I liked it when Stella spoke to beardy about him forcing himself on her - it made a good point that sexual attacks aren't just strangers creeping into your house at night. They happen all the time.

Agree Vashta - also how he felt he didn't do anything wrong and she pointed out that she had said no and yet he still continued. Highlighted male entitlement very well

Not sure why PSNI didn't spot Jimmy moving around when they clearly spotted inept Journo!

It was a tidy ending in a way abit of a cliff hanger and we will now be expecting series 3 with or without Spector although with a gut wound losing that much blood, his chances aren't high. Merlin had her Sussed after their morning after bed chat, and Spector had their 'relationship' Sussed too, he was a very perceptive and clever guy.
I found the scenes with the daughter very sad, and also the one with Sally Anne, all very human. Somehow the ending did feel disappointing after all the tension and build up somehow...

< and yes, why the hell didn't the women hit him with a saucepan! The wife was brilliant and he was truly terrifying. GAs comments about women being afraid they might be killed whilst men are afraid they might be laughed at was truly telling>

Yes, I liked it that that point was made about men being frightened women will laugh at them etc...and Stella's confrontation of Beardy for pushing himself on her.
