I don't find the Beale /Branning stuff interesting but I think the Carter stuff was well done.

Stan has had some good scenes. A chance for a bit of bridge building. I'm so glad that there was no question of Mick not believing Linda.
Stacy has been awesome too. Mick and Linda are a believable couple and I'd like them to last. I'm sure she will come back.
Worried about how Nancy might react if she finds out.

Emma is so dull. Jane is acting a bit suss.

bleedingheart · 26/12/2014 21:06

Hope you are okay Vashta

confuddledDOTcom · 26/12/2014 21:15

did feel yesterday's episode was a bit Blood Brothers? We even have the right names for Mick and Linda.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 26/12/2014 21:20

I do hope Linda and Mick survive as a couple. I do like the fact he believed her without question. I hate Shirley, Dean and Aunt Babe.

bleedingheart · 26/12/2014 21:36

Babe is an arch manipulator. I wonder what her end game is. Does she just like to hold the strings?

VashtaNerada · 26/12/2014 21:44

Yes I am okay Grin Stupid Eastenders and it's stupid likeable characters!

Ujjayi · 26/12/2014 22:06

I watched it all on iPlayer. I was in tears at Mick's reaction to Linda telling him about the rape. Excellent acting. Linda will be back but I reckon there will be no baby any more.

Jane asking Ian to marry her is way too rushed. She is definitely hiding something.

Emma is utterly annoying. I cannot stand her incessant pressure on Lauren and I don't think she is a credible character.

When will Nick finally go?! He makes me not want to watch Confused

YY- Babe was a scapegoat and if it hadn't been for her Mick would have been raised away from his family.

kellohitty · 27/12/2014 10:14

Am surprised Mick didn't say to Linda that now it all made sense ie/ her breakdown ,flinching when he touched her, being withdrawn etc etc. Also where did Jane's proposal come from?? One minute they were back on friendly terms, the next she's declaring her love. Not credible at all.
Surprising Eastenders picked Topsy and Tim mum to play Emma as she's not believable at all. Just as well it's not real!!

Southeastdweller · 27/12/2014 11:56

I generally liked the Christmas Day episode and especially appreciated the long scenes with Mick and Linda. Kellie Bright deserves a ton of awards next year for her brilliant performance as Linda and I've been surprised this year that Danny Dyer has held his own. I'm glad Mick didn't doubt her at all but wonder if Nancy will tell him next week that Dean kissed Linda...

My only gripe was that I thought it would have worked better dramatically if we'd seen a flicker of doubt on Shirley's face when she was talking to Dean. But given her history with Dean and Linda, I can understand why she's taking his side.

Jane's up to something (I agree that she's probably protecting someone), but if it comes out she's the killer, I just wouldn't be able to take the show seriously from then on. Jane just wouldn't kill Lucy, regardless of how much Lucy provoked her.

I'll catch up with yesterday's one tonight.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/12/2014 16:58

So mick seems to care more about Shirley lying to him then dean raping his linda

Slyvie for someone who apparently has dementia seemed to have good memories of the past

Love the way the whole square piles Into pub on xmas day - can't they enjoy xmas with their familiies who all live in the square anyway

So Shirley is micks mum. Tina is his aunt not sister and dad is really grandad and his nephew dean his brother

Blondes head explodes

MissBattleaxe · 27/12/2014 17:47

No, I disagree, I think Mick is distraught about Linda, and then a bit more distraught that his sister supports Dean, and then on top of that he is given life changing news when his head is already full. And then linda leaves and his head just went BooM.

Also people with dementia and Alzheimer's can have remarkably clear memories of the past. It's a myth that they lose their memory totally. My MIL can remember details from 40 years with pure clarity, but doesn't know what year it is or where she lives.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/12/2014 20:03

sorry i meant in the beginning when he is still punching dean(o)

at the end he is distraught as she has 'left him and given ring back, i assumed linda left as he yelled out in the living room dean raped linda, and obv she doesnt want anyone to know

CyclopsBee · 27/12/2014 22:57

I bet Danny Dyer enjoyed playing those scenes smashing the pub up at the end Smile

MissBattleaxe · 28/12/2014 00:18

Yeah, basically a bad day for Mick full of Christmas surprises!

Pyjamaramadrama · 28/12/2014 10:29

I agree Linda/Kellie Bright is fab.

I think that Mick is so angry at Shirley because she believes Dean. Although I think it's realistic that she would believe or at least choose to believe Dean. I think it would be realistic that a lot of people would believe Dean and think that Linda slept with him willingly and is lying as she now regrets it, the DNA of the baby would make this seem more so. That's the rape myth isn't it?

I think even Nancy suspects a Linda/Dean affair. As Nancy knew that something was going on a while ago, and Linda dug herself a hole by letting Nancy think that there was a kiss or something.

Pyjamaramadrama · 28/12/2014 10:35

I liked when Stacey was speaking to Linda about how Dean is conning himself into believing he's done nothing wrong, as the truth is scary.

I like the way Dean is being shown as vulnerable and human but with a very dark side. Shows that not all rapists are jumping from behind bushes on dark nights.

All very well handled by EE for once.

Perhaps next more people will find out and it will be divided as to who believes Linda. People will be saying why didn't she fight him off, Deans not a rapist etc. Dean will be saying that Linda has ruined his relationship with her lies...

Iwantacampervan · 28/12/2014 12:11

Interesting personal real life angle on dementia for Stan (Timothy West) as Prunella Scales has been diagnosed with it - I recently listened to a programme on Radio4 where they were both interviewed. She definitely hasclear memories of past events but couldn't remember where items were in the kitchen.

Southeastdweller · 28/12/2014 12:34

I felt really sorry for Stan in the Boxing Day episode when he found out that Mick wasn't his son after all, but as Babe said, he would have made Shirley's life even worse if he knew his 14 year old daughter had a baby.

Also felt for Linda - understandably she doesn't want anyone to know about the rape so the betrayal by Mick must have hurt and inevitably the whole square will find out soon. I hope she comes back with Elaine.

I'm loving the new friendship with Linda and Stacey and hope this is developed next year.

Fakebook · 28/12/2014 14:23

Just caught up, and the Boxing Day episode was much better! Very good acting by everyone.

So Buster is indeed both Dean and Mick's father, so they're real blood brothers. I wonder how this story will work out. I don't think Dean has received his comeuppance. A few punches on the face isn't enough.

Agree about the long term memories being unaffected in dementia. My dad has Lewy Body dementia caused by his Parkinson's disease and his memories of 40/50 years ago is perfect but he won't remember names and daily things. It's a really sad and tiring (emotionally) job looking after a person with dementia and I do feel sorry for Babe, as a carer. But I don't think she has the right motives. I don't like her ever since Tina got beaten up by Tosh. She kind of caused that.

bleedingheart · 28/12/2014 15:56

Babe didn't tell anyone about Sylvie and chose to go it alone. She encouraged Tosh to believe Tina was cheating, knowing she had a history of violence. She tells Shirley to keep secrets all of the time and says she'll sort it. Why? To be kind to her neice or to hold the power?
Mick adored Shirley but he loves Linda more. His cutting off of Shirley is a big deal regardless of the mother revelation. It was interesting that it took a while for people to say 'why were you battering Dean in the first place?' Nancy wrongly suspects an affair I think.
At least Zsa Zsa was mentioned at Christmas. Bit weird that she never visits. Maybe she came back, killed Lucy and popped off again all off screen.

ilovechristmas1 · 28/12/2014 19:48

thought the Boxing Day episode was by far he best ive seen in awhile

i hope mick and linda work it out,im so in awe of how much they love each other,i really hope EE dont have them split

i would love somebody to adore me like they do each other, dont spoil it EE

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 28/12/2014 23:26

Haven't watched EE for years but ds has been up all night last night and I've forgotten the Netflix password. So I caught up with loads on Iplayer.

I'm confused. If Linda is 37 (from the scan) and Nancy 21 and so Lee (he's the oldest - right?) must be at least 22? But that means Linda must have been 15 when she had him and 14 when she got pregnant.

Wouldn't that be mentioned when they were all talking about 14 year old Shirley's pregnancy?

RedTinsel · 29/12/2014 00:05

Lee is the oldest. Mick and Linda met at school but I don't think Mick was living with Stan then, didnt he put him and TIna into care at some point?

Linda has been brilliant throughout these storylines. I like Mick as a character, but I don't think DD does him any justice. I was cringing at the scene when he was proposing.

I wish they would get the Lucy murder over with, I'm sooooo bored with it.
