OP posts:
DieselSpillages · 24/10/2014 22:17

it's all starting to piss me off. Personality changes, unfinished story lines etc. Kat as abused woman, Stoic Sonia into arch manipulator, sweet and innocent Ronnie. Next we'll be told Nick Cotton's found God and joined the priesthood.

lycanthropey · 24/10/2014 22:44

Just watching now. Marking place on the new thread Flowers

GetTheRedOut · 24/10/2014 22:49

Charlie started teaching Rebecca guitar months and months ago, when Carol was having chemo I think and was giving him grief about lying to Dot and he offered Rebecca the lessons to ingratiate himself with the family (Saint Charlie!) and force Carol to keep her mouth shut. Yes I'm sad enough to remember that...

cogitosum · 24/10/2014 22:50

I actually like Ronnie and hope things work out.

Sonia is awful! The emotional blackmail! Plus a) er she knows what it's like to need to perform? I thought she played the trumpet very badly as a child! And b) when she said about one minute you're changing their nappy and the next they're playing guitar in the vic blah blah blah I though she had Rebecca adopted and didn't get her back til she was about 5??? Hate inconsistencies!

lycanthropey · 24/10/2014 23:11

Whoever mentioned squatting on the old thread was right. Alfie is bloody stupid. He's such a moral coward. How does he think this latest scenario is going to play out exactly
And as for the wedding... words fail me

A few weeks/months of guitar lessons with Charlie is enough to win a, presumably much coveted, scholarship to a music boarding school. Well I never.

GetTheRedOut · 24/10/2014 23:11

Not at all surprised Sonia didn't know anything about it. She's a shit mum and she's always been a shitty person

Mrsjayy · 24/10/2014 23:24

So you get some guitar lessons and bam you get into music school okayy then. Sonia manipulating her child to stay with her and her dad AND The wedding wtaf was that about .

Harrin · 24/10/2014 23:34

Didn't like that scene with Sonia at all!!

Didn't Alfie and Kat give their notice to marry with all their id and stuff a few months ago? I remember they wanted to get married, skipped to the registry office with no appointment but came back all sad they couldn't do it. Did they mention they had it booked for a point in the future? Maybe that's how they are supposed to have got a cancellation

Love Kats character but Alfie needs to be sorted out or written out! Used to love him but become so hard to watch

I hope they don't make Shabnam into some boring uptight character. Just because she's religious doesn't mean she has to be a grouch

Mrsjayy · 24/10/2014 23:38

Yeah shabnam just needs to lighten up a bit

Pyjamaramadrama · 25/10/2014 00:00

I don't have anything more to add it's all so far fetched.

The wedding, the squat, the way Alfie treated the Masoods, why didn't he go to the b&b that the council offered. They might have been able to offer more help if they had some ID.

I think it's quite sweet how Tamwar has fallen for Nancy, Tamwar is a great character, underused.

differentnameforthis · 25/10/2014 00:32

do we care who killed lucy? Someone killed Lucy? It was so long ago, I almost forgot...

hashtagwhatever · 25/10/2014 00:37

Why is the police officer stalking Lauren, do we know yet?

AGnu · 25/10/2014 01:34

Why doesn't Alfie have any ID? Did he not have his wallet on him that night? You'd have thought if you were going to set fire to your house you'd make sure you had your wallet, along with that treasured photo of your beloved Nana that's blatantly going to get discovered & bust you... Hmm

Sonia's scene was ridiculous & horrible. What kind of narcissistic person tells their teenage daughter that their marriage would break down if she left?! The relationship is already over if that's the only thing keeping them together. Does she expect Rebecca to live with them forever? Confused

I love Nick.

AGnu · 25/10/2014 01:39

Re: Lucy, I reckon it was all some freak of nature... A bird dropped a rock on her head, a fox came along & took the rock because it smelled of blood, then the sprinklers came on & washed away all other evidence. Lucy had previously given Ben her wallet & phone in the hope that he'd use her phone to call her dad & use her wallet to pay for a taxi. All a series of unconnected random events....

Fakebook · 25/10/2014 08:01

Nick's return was funny, he gets chubbier everytime he's back. I do like his character though. I wonder how he'll openly come back on the square and whether Les Coker will get arrested for helping fake a death; not very good for business!

Agree with the crappy Sonia scene. Very manipulative. Where has Carol gone? Haven't seen her for ages.

Hashtag, I think Lauren is being stalked by 2 different people. The police man and someone else. There's a Halloween trailer that shows her ripping someone's mask off.

I just remembered that when Peter and Lauren got together Peter made "Happy Birthday" their "song"... Lucy died on Lauren's birthday so I think that may be a clue of some sort...

R4roger · 25/10/2014 08:08

i was worried alfie was going to let the door slam behind him and not be able to get in

SilveryMoon · 25/10/2014 09:53

Lucy died on Lauren's birthday?

R4roger · 25/10/2014 10:57

did i hear correctly, while cooking curry, the iranian mentioned Fagazzle Confused Grin

Fakebook · 25/10/2014 11:11

I thought she died on the night of her birthday? I might be wrong. But the birthday reference has been made twice now. Once when Lucy and Lauren are sitting on the steps and say they wonder what they'll be doing on her birthday next year, and then Peter making "happy birthday" their song.

Oh! I just got it...maybe it's a subtle reference to Eastender's 30th birthday?

differentnameforthis · 25/10/2014 11:20

It was Lauren's birthday...I remember them sitting on the steps & Lauren complaining that it had been a boring/dull day so far.... (I think)

SuchSweetSorrow · 25/10/2014 11:21

yeah I think it was Lauren's birthday, remember Lucy giving her those huge number balloons

SparkyLark · 25/10/2014 12:05

I think Friday's episode had the theme of "bad boys", which was sorta clever.

All the men behaved terribly, and then Nick Cotton turned up at the end, the ultimate bad boy.

I am also getting tired of the total personality changes. And people coming in and out all the time. Where did that policewoman who had an affair go? It was such an unbelievable "affair" it made no sense, and doesn't seem to be going anywhere as a story. I also found the way a recent Carter storyline was presented to be very distasteful but that's another story.

Re. Kat and Alfie. I think he plays someone with good intentions who is just.so.unbelievably weak. Makes it very hard to watch.

Its all become so, so, so glum as well, standing in a phonebooth in the rain would be more fun. Feel like I need a break :-)

CMP69 · 25/10/2014 12:38

Haven't watched Friday's yet, but marking my place for the run up to Chrimbo Grin

SilveryMoon · 25/10/2014 13:31

Just caught up with Friday's. Love Nick Cotton. I met him years ago, lovely bloke.

SparkyLark · 25/10/2014 14:23

Watch out for the meanboys Silvery: Dexter, Dean, the Iranian bloke who has suddenly appeared in Masood's kitchen to name a few! And the nice ones: Tamwar, Charlie. No doubt Charlie will have a complete change of personality and turn into a psychopath by the end of the year.
