Really really boring episode. So long and drawn out. Why is linda looking 20 weeks pregnant? Why is no one mad at babe for hiding sylvie for 35 years? Where are toshs injuries on the face gone? How did johnny arrive in spain overnight on a bike?

It was really really dull. One of the worst episodes I've watched. Linda acted well but danny overplays it.

Fakebook · 25/12/2014 22:56

I disagree ByeByeButterfly. The Branning/Beale scenes were crap too. I wouldn't have lost interest at all if a few scenes had been explosive. It was the Christmas special. Just one episode, not a whole film.

That said, I agree, Linda's acting was very good. Loved Cora and her catty remarks too.

ByeByeButterfly · 25/12/2014 23:03

Dean went into prison about 8 years ago for fraud that was really down to Chelsea Denise's daughter.

Dean attacked his Mum before cant remember when not long after he came out of prison I think? He left her lying crumpled on the floor anyway.

ByeByeButterfly · 25/12/2014 23:08

I agree Beale/Branning dinner was a bore.

I think what would've been better was Linda saying Dean did something to me as yeaterdays cliff hanger then the heart to heart could've been done the first 15 minutes and left 45 minutes for more action. I do think the heart to heart was important though to dispel some myths and show the effects I.e Linda thinking Mick wouldn't want her and Mixk saying it was his fault.
Maintaining Babe really annoys me.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/12/2014 23:10

Tbh a bit of an anticlimax - yes linda told mick but shirl yelling
He's your brother wasnt a good ending

Their mum looks much younger then the dad

I know Dean is Shirley's son but I can't believe as a woman and also as a woman who has the brunt of Dean's violence would just straight up believe him without question.

I can. It happens.

Dean has also been repeatedly abandoned by his mother (from a young age), which is probably what is at the heart of Shirley's need to take his side. " If I abandon him again, I'll lose him for good"

babbas · 26/12/2014 08:55

That was a really dull drawn out episode. I just cant stand shirley anymore. I think the carters can be likeable but they've brought in too many too quickly with too many secrets. I like lindas family but can do without shirley babe and Dean.

It was not a great episode for xmas day and especially given the buildup.

DieselSpillages · 26/12/2014 09:05

jane , Lauren etc are maybe protecting Peter who killed Lucy with some too pure coke. Someone in the Beale family knows .. Cindy ? hence the music box reminder.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/12/2014 09:24

If Lucy died via coke it would have shown in autopsy - instead wasn't she hit over head

R4roger · 26/12/2014 10:47

ridiculous for shirley to out Dean and Mick's relationship like that.

cleanmachine · 26/12/2014 10:49

Yes it was ridiculous. One punch in shirley screamed 'you're killing him' second punch thrown it was 'he's your bruvver'. Sick of shirl.

AlphaBravoHenryFoxtons · 26/12/2014 11:05

Shirley and Cora are both vile.

Nancy is lovely. I love her relationship with her dad. It's tender which is deeply shocking for Eastenders. Shock

AGnu · 26/12/2014 12:21

I quite liked the episode, although I did miss 20 minutes! They blatantly stole my plot line with the Carters... But I was sure I read recently that it was Stan who revealed it because he didn't want to die without him knowing. Seems that he didn't know himself though! I'd assumed he did after the whole bath thing.

Anyone got any theories about the music box? I'm wondering if it was either Ben & he'll protest he was trying to do a nice thing or Liam & it's a coincidence that it's Lucy's.

AGnu · 26/12/2014 12:22

Or maybe it's Emma trying to stir things up so she can watch everyone's reactions... That would imply there was some depth to her character though...

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/12/2014 14:43

My friend who drank lots of wine said that jane saw lauren and knew it wasn't her as didn't go in the house - and thinks its her who killed Lucy .......

Was surprised that Shirley yelled it out like that

Mick will Prob never forgive her tbh

Is it on tonight?
Yeah I heard they suspended bets at bookies about this as someone or a few people went in and put a lot of money on Jane being the killer so maybe there's been a leak....but what motive would she have?Hmm

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/12/2014 16:29

Yes on tonight :)

What motive did anyone have apart from The fact Lucy was an annoying skinny bitch

OP posts:
MissBattleaxe · 26/12/2014 16:51

It's funny how the who killed Lucy story is only just getting vaguely interesting now. Because we know the reveal isn't until Feb then its easy to guess that everything that came before was probably a red herring. It's a bit crap really to string it out so long.

Also-I do like Shirley but if she doesn't have a big moment of realisation soon then I want my money back. Stop defending the rapist you idiot!

Linda and Mick's scenes were very powerful and I was relieved that Mick believed her instantly, no question. As a viewer I like seeing strong relationships in soaps and get tired of everyone splitting up, so it's important to me that Linda and Mick stay together and stay strong.

Also I like Emma ( or DCI Emma Summerhayes as she said fifty times an episode when she was first introduced) but I fear she is too obviously an important plot device to be a long term character.

Good point sinster - tho would jane kill over that .......

Tho if was her and shes just asked Ian to marry her so a double blow

AlphaBravoHenryFoxtons · 26/12/2014 19:58

I prefer episodes where Ian Beale doesn't get to smile, it's just too creepy.

I did chuckle a bit at the napkin swans, and five courses. What a bore.

fixedit · 26/12/2014 20:05

Ok so now shirleys mum seems perfectly well....Hmm

VashtaNerada · 26/12/2014 20:57

Tonight's episode really upset me. I was really pleased with Mick's reaction yesterday and now he's gone and ruined everything Sad. It's strange how most storylines don't affect you at all and then randomly one does. Ronnie and both times she lost a child really got to me as well.
