Thanks CremeEggs I did wonder!!! But I suppose whatever goes to make a good TV prog! Smile

Beingfrank · 13/10/2014 23:02

Another Captain James fan here. Sadly he is 20 years younger than me, which feels a bit wrong!

yummypickledeggs · 14/10/2014 08:39

I suspect that James will be discharged (calm down ladies) from the Army due to injury, possibly given a desk job- maybe a leg amputation as it was shot to pieces, and Smurf will be court martialled for disobeying orders, and dismissed. Leaving Molly with a clear field again if the series continues- maybe with both men in the background.

PassTheCremeEggs · 14/10/2014 08:45

Ooh I like your theory pickledeggs but....sorry for DM link

PassTheCremeEggs · 14/10/2014 08:49

I should say there's a slight spoiler in the photos in that article but they don't give any actual details away.

yummypickledeggs · 14/10/2014 09:14

I don't understand that link.
The feature was dated in May and implies the funeral was part of the previous series. I didn't see that - so was there a death of a soldier then? They said the series ended on a cliff hanger and we were meant to think it could be Molly who was killed.

Are the shots of the funeral from the previous series - or are they supposed to be shots from the last episode ( to come) of this current series?

yummypickledeggs · 14/10/2014 09:16

The show’s viewers were left in suspense as to whether Molly was killed after the one-off episode ended with a coffin being flown home

This refers to the end of the previous series- and presumably this was a scene from week 1 of the current series. No?

PassTheCremeEggs · 14/10/2014 09:21

Yes I see the confusion. The shots weren't part of the original one-off so I'm assuming they have to be part of the last episode of this current series.(plus she's wearing an Afghan medal and isn't this tour her first?)

The one off ended slightly ambiguously - you were supposed to think it was her that had died until the last minute when it became apparent it was someone else.

But reading the article again it's definitely not conclusive!

PassTheCremeEggs · 14/10/2014 09:22

No it wasn't - those scenes haven't appeared in either the original one-off or in this series.

yummypickledeggs · 14/10/2014 09:45

Ok- so it's either James or Smurf ( or someone else entirely!)
What happened to the one who was under the sheet and was given a terminal prognosis in the hospital? We never saw what the outcome was for him.

James' injury looked worse, but who knows......................

yummypickledeggs · 14/10/2014 09:48

BUT- the DM says this:
And as Lacey Turner’s BBC war drama returns for a five-part series, it is revealed that her character Molly Dawes survived the conflict as she attends the funeral of one of her fellow soldiers.

They wouldn't reveal it as late as part 5 surely - ie that she had survived?

Maybe it is just crap DM copy and the journo doesn't realise they have written something that is very unclear.

yummypickledeggs · 14/10/2014 09:50

Smurf was the 'friend' surely and James was more a colleague? Dunno........

furcoatbigknickers · 14/10/2014 09:52

I was a tad dusappointed to read hes 6 years younger than me. Dribble.

yummypickledeggs · 14/10/2014 10:14

Ha- try 30 years younger and see how that feels!

PassTheCremeEggs · 14/10/2014 10:23

I reckon it's crap DM copy - just badly written.

The one that was under the sheet/ dying in hospital was an Afghan soldier - so wouldn't have a funeral in the UK.

LightastheBreeze · 14/10/2014 10:25

And as Lacey Turner’s BBC war drama returns for a five-part series, it is revealed that her character Molly Dawes survived the conflict as she attends the funeral of one of her fellow soldiers.

That reads to me as though it is episode 5 and she survives this series, May must have been when the actual filming for this series took place and the DM were there to take photos.

Also fellow soldier must refer to Smurf or one of the others, not James because he is her boss.

Really looking forward to Sundays episode.

EveDallasRetd · 14/10/2014 10:25

God, even those photos are wrong. Her collar dogs are two 'lefties'. Her tie has the wrong knot. She should be wearing parade shoes and as she's not a pall bearer or an NCO she shouldn't be wearing a black armband. The boys trousers aren't correctly fitted and turned up and their boots should be bulled. Oh and most church services stipulate no leather or medals.

It's the minor things that spoil a good show for anyone who has served. I wonder who the Mil Liaison was? Bad job mate.

mandy214 · 14/10/2014 10:52

Whats the spoiler in the DM link ?? (although should admit that I've just spent 20 minutes on google maps looking at a church on Church Lane in Bath, and then a former church (now a house) on Church Lane in Newport just so I can kid myself its not Capt James who dies). I have so many other things to do..... Grin

PassTheCremeEggs · 14/10/2014 10:57

That's some excellent dedication Mandy!

Spoiler is only that someone dies.

mandy214 · 14/10/2014 11:26

Excellent dedication or complete saddo Grin??

And Smurf isn't one of the coffin bearers, maybe, which he probably could have been if he only had superficial injuries?!

IneedAwittierNickname · 14/10/2014 11:49

Capt James is only a year younger than me so... looks like he's all mine Grin thanks ladies Flowers

lem73 · 14/10/2014 17:24

I flicked through a copy of TV choice today in Asda. There is a picture of Molly and Smurf in a hospital gown looking deathly pale so I take it he'll survive. They surely couldn't kill Captain James off after they've revealed he has a son. (Doesn't he have a first name btw?)

yummypickledeggs · 14/10/2014 19:54

Nooooooooo!

TBH the overriding issue is always which actor wants to be free to go on to other things. Maybe Cpt James has bigger theatrical fish to fry in the future rather than another series of this.

LondonRocks · 14/10/2014 19:56

Maybe Smurf doesn't survive, though?
