SP I am with you on the Molly hair issue. I am in awe of anyone who can tie their own hair up in such a lovely french plait arrangement being useless at that sort of thing much to my DD's disgust.

Oh and agree with others it is definitely 'Captain'.

PassTheCremeEggs · 28/10/2014 16:21

Surely she couldn't have forgotten his name...surely! That just doesn't seem possible. I think it was a bad bit of continuity - I think the Bath scene is where she's actually meant to find out his name for the first time.

Or - she saw it on letter but might have assumed he goes by Charlie and is sniggering at the formality of Charles??

Richtea19 · 28/10/2014 16:22

CJ, Captain, not Charles.
Just downloaded Ep 5 from iTunes, feel safe now that I can watch all episodes for ever.

I don't think that picture is of BA, looks too buff and nothing like he did in the paddling pool. Not complaining though.

I am sure CJ would not mix with the others, meals evening etc so the normal conversations of wife's/partners etc he wouldn't be involved with. However I am surprised that Smurf never mentioned to Molly as he would of known about the wife through his brother serving under CJ. Also since Ep 2 you could see the relationship starting to develop between CJ and Molly, even though it was more of respect for her (Intel and medical). The way surf saw them looking at each other singing. If he was jealous in any way I would of thought he would drop the wife/child into conversation?

Did make for great drama though. When she was in the wardrobe, camera zoomed in and dramatic music started!

Tried to involve friend into OG today as I knew she watched it. Only ever seen each episode once though! And no interest in watching them again ??
Think she was slightly worried for me... Especially as is told her I bought a carol concert ticket! And spend most of my day reading through MN comments.
Also Nick Grimshaw is a right pain in the bum, always talks through his guests, hope he lets BA talk so we can drawl!

ihearttc · 28/10/2014 16:23

Right I have a very important question to answer which will take careful consideration from all of you!

After rewatching all episodes last night I have decided to try to pick my favourite CJ line...not a moment as such because there are so many amazing moments but 1 single line that he says which has an effect on you.

Ive watched them all so many times now (thank god I recorded all of them) and last night reached a very odd conclusion as to my favourite line.

In the restaurant after he tells Molly that his parents are in Lake Garda and Molly does the little laugh...he says "whats funny?". I have absolutely no idea why but the way he says that just makes me completely melt. At the risk of sounding strange-its almost like BA is saying it rather than CJ??

So whats everyone else's favourite line?

MumOfTheMoos · 28/10/2014 16:28

I think she probably does know his name but is waiting for him to tell her she can use it iyswim. And then, she's just taking the mick for the fun of it, 'cos that's part of their thing.

MumOfTheMoos · 28/10/2014 16:32

RichTea19 - I think they had enough conversation about life and etc, they did a duet etc, etc for him to have had the opportunity to mention he was married or someone in the platoon to mention it. I also think Smurf would have mentioned it to her too.

MumOfTheMoos · 28/10/2014 16:34

I do understand the need for a dramatic revelation in the plot but I do think it leads to questions about his character as I think, narrative mechanisms notwithstanding, it's implausible (to quote my DH whilst watching EastEnders).

Rhubarb01 · 28/10/2014 16:39

I think she might not want him to know that she read his divorce letter. He wouldn't know that she sorted his things out to send back to the UK. However, as was mentioned before, she called his wife Rebecca which was also on the letter. Its probably another continuity error.

BrodiesBabe · 28/10/2014 16:43

I like 'Piss off, Dawesy.' It's him letting his feelings and humanity slip out and he's so gorgeous there.

But, as an incurable romantic. 'I want you to be the last thing I see' takes some beating.

Sorry for any misquotes. Not sure I've remembered it all exactly! Stinking headache. Sad

Argh, there are so many, actually. There's only one thing for it - go off and watch it again.

Candypop7 · 28/10/2014 16:46

ihearttc my fav CJ line is the one that comes after 'what's funny', 'what are you gonna do, call me Bossman for the rest of our lives'. Also partial to the line in response to Molly (about to go on the helicopter on leave) 'But you might gonna need a medic' and he responds' we might gonna already got one, Go!' It's a hard call though- can recite so many.......

ihearttc · 28/10/2014 16:52

Brodies yep "Piss off Dawsey" comes a very close second!

candypop...its actually not that "whats funny"...have just realised he must say it twice in the same scene. First time he says it talking about his name and then he says about calling him bossman. Second time he says about his parents being at Lake Garda and then Molly does a sort of laugh and he leans in and says "whats funny?". Its that one that gets to me every single time!

I love the "Might gonna already got one" line as well. In fact I love that whole scene as you can tell how much its taking to actually make her go.

Candypop7 · 28/10/2014 16:52

Also been obsessing about Smurf's brain haemorrhage today for some reason. Wondering if in Ep3 when Molly comments that Smurf is still smoking cigs and he responds that he'll give up 'when there's less jitterbugs in my head', if this is the first clue something is wrong? Any thoughts?

Nickel45 · 28/10/2014 16:54

ihearttc is it the way his lip moves when he says it? (or is that just me, eek!). My fave is "I'm not letting you out of my sight" (sigh).

BrodiesBabe · 28/10/2014 17:00

Candypop - that's actually something I never really got. Was Smurf's haemorrhage due to his injuries on the bridge (don't see how they could be) or due to something long-standing and undiscovered? I assumed for the plot they were due to injuries on the bridge but I don't really see how they could have been as he was only shot in the arm, wasn't he?

Also just love the scene where she is finding it hard to go off on leave and he yells at her 'Go! That's an order!' Nothing special about the words in themselves, just love her despair at leaving him and his realisation of it but insistence that she goes off for some R and R.

Smurfingreat · 28/10/2014 17:01

I think we're all falling for the same lines!

I love "Piss Off Dawsey", "What you gonna do, call me Bossman for the rest of our lives?" and "We might gonna already got one".

In addition during the coco pops conversation "Is that a euphemism?" and "If I knew what one of those was I'd tell you".

icemist · 28/10/2014 17:04

Lots of fab lines I love "I'm not letting you out my sight" when they go on the mission without the rest of 2 section. More because it's come after she's asked him if "this is a mistake ... If you're regretting it..us" it's his way of reassuring her he has no regrets and it's not a mistake.

I think BA is quite a private person and I believe this whole thing with CJ has probably come as a shock.
I noticed the hand wringing and in the little video from a press thing for American psycho (is that right) he seems even shy. I guess though it's nice that he doesn't court the press like so many younger actors do these days.

Richtea19 · 28/10/2014 17:05

Mine is "come back to me"
Ihearttc , do love "what's funny " too. So many to choose from!

Just watched ep5 and for clarification the divorce papers do have his name on. But prob doesn't register with her at the time.

Something I have just picked up on for the first time, at themes of the funeral when she tells CJ about her short tour to afghan, she say you have to sort it out your world and everything in it. It then showsMolly in her bedroom in front of her mirror and voice over CJ saying "we are nearly
there. Is he referring to getting together in bath when she returns from her short tour?

Smurfingreat · 28/10/2014 17:08

Just found this blog post. All about the actors training and building the sets. Don't think anyone has posted it before.

BrodiesBabe · 28/10/2014 17:09

Partial to 'What's funny, Medic?' too as it's the first thing he ever says to her. It signals the start of wonderful things ...

He says 'What's funny' a lot! Clearly hiding latent insecurities!

lyndie · 28/10/2014 17:10

'Sir it can't land it's mined to buggery!'

Rhubarb01 · 28/10/2014 17:11

I thought the suggestion about Smurf's haemorrhage was that the condition had always been there - not sure if that's possible - might gonna need a doctor to explain that one! Molly said something about the injury possibly making it worse. I guess these things do happen to people at random without any warning. Why Molly thought there were signs she missed, I don't know.

icemist · 28/10/2014 17:12

I may be going mad but Episode 4 when she finds out he's married and rushes out I can hear him say Molly just before he goes out the door, but really quietly- this is the one I recorded but on the iplayer I can't hear it at all.

I love the restaurant scene- all the looks they are giving each other. You just know how much they want each other

lyndie · 28/10/2014 17:15

I thought some of the medical stuff re Smurfs haemorrhage was badly done, and didn't really fit but then I am super critical when it comes to medical issues on TV!

Musketeers moved to Other Subjects, it was originally AIBU then Telly Addicts but didn't fit staying there. There isn't a 'drooling over hot men' topic!

BrodiesBabe · 28/10/2014 17:17

Just found this. Would love to hear all of these delivered in CJ's voice!

icemist · 28/10/2014 17:20

had to check the script Richtea19 he says 'you're nearly there' which I take to mean that she's closer to sorting out her life- what she wants to do with the army etc

I watched the funeral scenes again and they do seem so awkward together but understandably so as we discussed before- no-one actually knowing about them, respect etc to smurf

When he asks in the restaurant how she is doing she says its 'a different ball bag with you' does this mean that after the holding her face in hospital that they have been in a lot of contact together?

I'm sure I could get a degree on Our Girl at the moment....Blush
