Yes yummy - she came back to Bath after her tour, back to Capt James (can't quite seem to call him Charles!) - very short scene, just enough to reassure us all they're still together Smile

HappyNap · 20/10/2014 08:29

Like your analysis Nappy Grin

Does this ever happen in real-life btw?

mandy214 · 20/10/2014 08:38

Happy - you mean Our Girl wasn't real like Shock ??

furcoatbigknickers · 20/10/2014 09:04

I think they should have a baby named Rosa Baya serious

furcoatbigknickers · 20/10/2014 09:05

I'm glad its not just me who is obsessed likes this.

annabanana19 · 20/10/2014 09:09

Im also obsessed. FFS im 40 and a mum to 3 kids.....

furcoatbigknickers · 20/10/2014 09:17

Its ok anna I'm 36 and mum to 4.

yummypickledeggs · 20/10/2014 09:45

Ok- have now seen the post-credits scene. (I think it's very silly for the BBC to do this BTW.)

I think it is completely unrealistic.

Everyone knows that Cpt James would have met her at the station and not been immersed in DIY or whatever when she arrived. :)

BrodiesBabe · 20/10/2014 09:48

Another obsessee here! 41, 2 kids. And, to be honest, there have been times when I have cringed at some of the lines and lack of believability but I COULD NOT CARE LESS - I LOVED IT!!

I haven't been on here for years. It had just sort of fallen off my radar, but this has brought me back as I was desperately seeking out like-minded individuals to share my Capt James' obsession. Finally, I found it! It's good to be here!

I've been wondering about the way we can get him back in uniform in the next series. He resigned his commission very quickly, I thought, for a guy devoted to the army. Maybe there's a way back in, but now that they're (presumably) open about their relationship, he won't be able to be her commanding officer. I'm not sure if relationships are allowed between different ranks in different platoons etc. Maybe he can be in some sort of advisory role which requires something approaching a uniform but doesn't put him in direct command over her ...??? He looks good in anything and I love his cheeky smile, but I do miss the uniform and the stern captain-like stare too. Grin

(Also, apologies if I can't get smilies/emphasis to work. Tried it last time and it didn't. Will try again - should have put a grin at the end of last paragraph!)

SuchSweetSorrow · 20/10/2014 10:29

Oh I am so glad I saw about the part after the credits on here, I missed that completely!

IssyStark · 20/10/2014 11:36

Brodies, since the adoption of the Human Rights Act, all soldiers have a right to a private life, so while relationships with the chain of command are still banned for operational reasons, it is not legal to ban soldiers from having relationships. Obviously they have to notify their line of command so they aren't both assigned to the same command.

However there is still a stigma within the Forces regarding relationships between officers and the ranks. Although these aren't of course banned, now, the fact that they used to be still means there is a lingering uneasiness about them.

Personally I'm not sure if James had resigned his commission by the end of the series. He would have, like Smurf, been likely to stay in while still under treatment and rehabilitation, so he may have had time to reconsider. I would ahve thought he would have been more unsiuted to a desk job in the civilian world than a desk job in the army.

IssyStark · 20/10/2014 11:43

Also, just rewatched, and the leter with the decree absolute is dated 13th September 2013, which does rather make the whole timeline a bit odd. surely if he had the decree absolute for over six months then he would have said divorced, not split up? But then as fanfic author, klipdoctor, had already commented in the notes for Captain's Log, it looks as if the dates on the episode titles have been put in later and do not match up with the original dates in the script.

BrodiesBabe · 20/10/2014 12:00

Thanks for that info, IssyStark. Smile Sounds like a continuing relationship and uniform is still possible! I think between the twitter response and here, the prog makers should be in no doubt as to what the Great British Public would like to see - at least the female side of it!

mandy214 · 20/10/2014 13:46

He says (in hospital bed) that he's resigning his commission - obviously hadnr done it as yet. Then in the restaurant Molly asks him what hes going to do and he pulls his face at a desk job (which I took to mean an army desk job) and says he hasnt decided what he'll do yet. He also says hes seen various emails about new postings (think he called them trawls) cos he mentions the medic mentoring - could all that mean he's still in the Army?

Re dates - all definitely wrong. Episode 5 said April 2014 but in Episode 4 Capt James invited her for Christmas and before her R&R in Episode 3, he says they'll be home at Christmas. but I dont care what time of year it was as long as he loves her

End of titles scene. She wanted to surprise him (so wholly realistic in my warped view) so he didnt need to meet her at the station. He obviously liked the surprise by the look on his face Smile

OwlCapone · 20/10/2014 13:54

One thing that bugged me was Molly's hair. It was always shiny and perfectly plaited. Is that likely with all that Afghan dust?

HappyNap · 20/10/2014 14:05

Anyone have a link to the song at the end?

friendlymum67 · 20/10/2014 14:13

Grin I love this thread!! If anyone is starting a Capt James fan club, l'm signing up!! He is gorgeous l am not old enough to be his mum, unlike some of you, oh nooo, well maybe but only just

IssyStark · 20/10/2014 14:24

The song over the title at start and end is Alex Clare - War Rages On

yummypickledeggs · 20/10/2014 14:48

Mandy- I don't see how the dates are wrong. she could have been home for Xmas and spent it in Bath ( but not recorded for us!) then in April she comes home again.
I can't believe they would get continuity like that so far out- surely?

Smurfingreat · 20/10/2014 15:08

yummy they can't even put Cpt James's cast on the right leg!

ihearttc · 20/10/2014 15:21

No I noticed the cast on the wrong leg as well...I maybe a little obsessed. However when he actually got shot I thought he got shot in the right leg (which the cast was on) so I wondered if the hospital was the wrong leg. Does that make sense or am I just rambling??

I can't believe I missed the bit at the end! Have just had to watch it several times over!

OwlCapone · 20/10/2014 15:33

He was shot in the right leg and, in the hospital, they lifted the sheet to show a long wound on the right leg. Then the cast was on the left. Did he perhaps injure both legs...?

ihearttc · 20/10/2014 15:46

Nope you're right and Im wrong!! I was getting my left and rights confused...I thought the scene when he got shot it was the other leg (just had to go and watch it again!)

yummypickledeggs · 20/10/2014 16:06

But when she lifted the sheet to see his leg there was no cast or anything on it- just a wound of some sort. So maybe that wasn't the 'bad' leg anyway.

IssyStark · 20/10/2014 16:14

I think they were just bad at continuty - it isn't the only error.

I reckon, looking at their tans, I think they did much of the British filming before going out to South Africa where the Afghan scenes were filmed. At that point, after they'd already shot the Bath stuff, the prosthetics person arrives with a shot up right leg rather than a left one. No time to remake as filming overseas is bloody expensive and they are on a tight shoot, so they just go with it and hope no one notices. Wink
