Anyone wondering why nobody thought to give Edith's child to Anna and Bates? That way she could have been a massive part of Edith's life and virtually lived at the Abbey. They could have said she was the child of a distant relative/friend there too. Anna is obviously discreet as she kept Mary's secret. So why not? Glad Edith is stepping out and doing what she wants though.
