I believe it's back on Sunday. Hurray!

I really hope though that they focus more on Edith and less on Mary and her boring, all look the samey, suitors.

Mr B doesn't
lady Mary does.

Edith will snatch Marigold.

Cork always seems sympathetic, Edith should have confided in her.

Agree Bates will find the contraceptive equipment!

GeorginaWorsley · 19/10/2014 22:56

Cork??
Cora obvSmile

mineallmine · 19/10/2014 22:58

Thanks phantom.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 19/10/2014 23:00

Yes Mary knows.

I think Cora is going to come through for Edith and help her keep Marigold nearby.

I don't think Mary would ever marry Tom, it would be completely against her characterisation so far. Also I've said this before in previous years, but Uncle Julian does NOT like Tom. Tom and Sybil were always supposed to end in disaster, it just ended in death because JB-F wanted to move on. He would never pair his adored Lady Mary up with Tom. Never never never!

Also I really like him as a devoted brother to all three girls. It's a position Matthew never really held and it's nice and opens up more stuff than another romance would. If Edith spills the beans next week, he will know everybody's terrible secrets - Mary's dirty weekend, Edith's baby, and Rose's romance with the jazz singer! And he was lovely about all of it.

Nancy66 · 19/10/2014 23:00

Edith's bloke is going to turn up alive and they'll all live happily ever after with Marigold.

KristinaM · 19/10/2014 23:01

I think Edith is contacting the private detective who she hired to look for her missing bf. He will arrange something for marigold in London . Poor Edith is cracking up I fear, perhaps she has post natal depression too .

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 19/10/2014 23:02

Oh also how hilarious was Lord 6's fight. My toddler could throw a better punch! Rabbit you are the worst.

SirChenjin · 19/10/2014 23:03

Really hope the journo bloke does turn up - poor Edith has been put through the wringer since the series began. It's about time something nice happened to her.

I'm still not sure about the Tom/Mary thing. It seems preposterous, but the whole of Downton is preposterous so it wouldn't surprise me.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 19/10/2014 23:05

How long has it been? At least two years surely?

Not even Downton would have him sitting in an asylum with amnesia right? Right??

Maybe he became a Nazi.

Maybe he's Hitler.

Nancy66 · 19/10/2014 23:06

Farmer's wife is as thick as the pig shit her husband shovels if she hasn't worked out that Edith is Marigold's mother.

SirChenjin · 19/10/2014 23:11

What is the thinking around Journo Boyfriend's whereabouts? I've kind of lost track a bit. I seem to recall the Brown Shirts were involved somewhere along the line Confused

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 19/10/2014 23:16

After much confusion, Edith recently learned that on his first or second night in Munich he got into a fight with some proto-Nazis. That was the last anyone saw or heard of him.

Some of the Brownshirts he was fighting with are now on trial, and there is a suggestion they might admit what they did with him.

But they haven't yet. Maybe in the final episode.

LineRunner · 19/10/2014 23:17

Maybe Edith's going to do a Nancy Mitford.

LineRunner · 19/10/2014 23:18

Or was it Diana? The one who went to Germany.

SirChenjin · 19/10/2014 23:18

Ah, yes - I remember that. The Brownshirts were the "toughies" poor Edith was sobbing about, weren't they?

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 19/10/2014 23:22

Yes, they go about in brown shirts and have terrible opinions!

SirChenjin · 19/10/2014 23:23

How can they bear to wear brown??

floellabenjaminsearrings · 19/10/2014 23:27

Thank god Miss Bunting has gone. I was practically screaming at Tom not to stop her. Since when were they supposedly in love? I've seen more sexual frisson in a cup of cold custard.

The best storyline is Edith and the child, although the farmer really doesn't trust his wife to keep a secret.

I am so far past caring about who killed Mr Greene that it might as well have been Isis the dog from behind the grassy knoll.

SirChenjin · 19/10/2014 23:29

I'm not even sure I can remember what happened to Mr Greene either Confused. I swear my memory is getting dreadful.

ophiotaurus · 19/10/2014 23:29

I want Edith to take Marigold back!!
I don't think Mary would marry Tom as he was with her sister after all.

boogiewoogie · 19/10/2014 23:49

There is just no way that Tom and Mary would get together. She is very determined that it would have to be one of her kind that she marries. I am relieved to see the back of Miss Bunting. There was no warmth in her or any hint that she cared about Tom. I do like how Tom gets on well with the Crawley sisters and Rose.

Poor Cora being ignored yet again by Lord G.

I wonder why Thomas is suddenly turning to Baxter for help after the way he treated her.

Davros · 20/10/2014 00:15

It was Unity Mitford who was the Hitler admirer although Diana was also a fascist.
Glad Bunting has gone. A slightly less preposterous episode than usual but it had its moments!

MindReader · 20/10/2014 00:20

I hope Edith goes to London and takes Baby Marigold.

Would she have had any money of her own to do so, though?

If not, blasted journo better get back quick.

The Mr Greene story is totally boring now.

Glad Lord G thumped the cheeky art dealer but wish Cora would tell him to stop being a miserable bully for ignoring her at the Cocktail Party .... he needs to pay his wife some attention!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 20/10/2014 00:40

Poor Edith Sad

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 20/10/2014 01:37

I don't understand why Thomas's storylines are always so full of angst. Why not just have him shag around a bit?

Potential Thomas lovers :
Richard E Grant
Anti-semitic Russian count
Intelligent policeman
Stupid policeman
Mr Pig Farmer
Maggie Smith's resentful butler

Imagine how much more interesting the above plotlines would be if Thomas was having it off with even half these men.
