I believe it's back on Sunday. Hurray!

I really hope though that they focus more on Edith and less on Mary and her boring, all look the samey, suitors.

Well if Gillingham is out of the picture, she'll just have to marry Charles Blake(?) who's heir to a title & a fortuneHmm

munchkinmaster · 06/10/2014 11:56

To be fair Edith sees more of marigold than pickles and Mary see of theirs.

yesbutnobut · 06/10/2014 14:43

Mary seems to assume she can just tell Gillingham she's not going to marry him and he'll go away (though she's not sure when she's going to tell him). Maybe he won't take 'no' for an answer?

wantacatplease · 06/10/2014 15:18

I feel like this storyline is recycled too. The whole "marry me or I'll tell the world you're a harlot" thing.

Cariad007 · 06/10/2014 15:38

To be fair to Mary, if sex with Tony involved using this then no wonder she's gone off him!

diddl · 06/10/2014 15:41

Well I guess he can ruin her reputation, but he can't actually force her to marry him just because they've had sex, can he?

Maybe it'll all come out & Edith will save the day by declaring, "oh mary's not so bad, come & meet your illegitimate GD!"

wantacatplease · 06/10/2014 15:43

Christ alive, I don't even understand how penetration is possible! Confused It's like putting a swimmer's cap up there.

PrivateJourney · 06/10/2014 15:44

Oh, wantacat, is that where the name comes from?

MindReader · 06/10/2014 15:53

Cant believe the teacher would be allowed to repeatedly turn up at DA and be so bloody rude. That doesn't ring true at all.

It's quite 'meh' so far this series. Sad.

tribpot · 06/10/2014 15:57

Yes, I think JF is trying to show the changing fabric of society but is rubbish at it.

diddl · 06/10/2014 16:06

"Yes, I think JF is trying to show the changing fabric of society but is rubbish at it."

Yes because I have a feeling that he actually thinks that the old order of things is how it should be!

So the teacher has to be rude, for example.

what's happening with Isobel & Lord Merton(?) any progress there or is that going to end as she's getting above herself!!

TBH, I'm quite surprised that JF's precious LM ever married Matthew!!

I suppose him being her father's heir made up for the fact that he knew what a weekend was was only a solicitor.

tribpot · 06/10/2014 16:32

Exactly, diddl - that was my feeling too. JF belongs to the old order so he's showing the 'breakdown' (or democratisation) of society as a bad thing.

SmatteringOfPatois · 07/10/2014 07:47

What's the connection with Rose and the Russians, did she meet them at The Embassy or something Grin

qazxc · 07/10/2014 08:34

I want to waft around the bedroom in a big fancy shawl (instead of a fleecy dressing gown generally sporting a smattering of baby puke)!

MindReader · 07/10/2014 09:21

Cariad thanks for the link to the Science Museum pic.
Clicked on the pic of the 'birth model' used to teach students.
Very interesting.
I studied History of Medicine for A level many moons ago.

diddl · 07/10/2014 20:30

Well I quite enjoyed that ep.

So now that Cora knows Baxter's secret, does thomas no longer have anything on her?

And is she going to have something on him-the business about his father being ill?

Perhaps Tom & Edith should both go to America?

KristinaM · 07/10/2014 20:45

Rose is doing charitable work in York with Russian refugees. Who just happen to be aristocracy /royal family .

SmatteringOfPatois · 07/10/2014 22:11

KristinaM thank you, obviously missed that, had thoughts of the being dance partners at the latest jazz club but no, aristocracy/royal connections, goodness Grin.

KristinaM · 08/10/2014 07:11

And did you get that one is a former admirer of the dowager countess?? they met at a wedding ( or maybe a ball ) when she was in Russia with her husband .

SmatteringOfPatois · 08/10/2014 07:38

oh yes, the russian admirer who still remembered what she was wearing all those years ago haha. Did I imagine it or where there a couple of Faberge eggs on that table of momentos from the loft?

KristinaM · 08/10/2014 07:44

I remember what DH was wearing on our first date. And what I was wearing.

Does this make me a True Romantic ? < derails thread >

SmatteringOfPatois · 08/10/2014 08:14

Bet you have a large shawl for the bedroom as well Grin.

PrivateJourney · 08/10/2014 08:16

Me too Kristina. I wasn't actually aware that I knew, but I do and we were out for a very casual, not dressed up at thing.

R4roger · 08/10/2014 08:28

forgive me for not having RTT, ! but i was sure Lord and his wife didnt use to share a bed on a regular basis?

R4roger · 08/10/2014 08:29
