Thought I better start another one (in case I lose you all next week!)

I find it hard to watch - I felt like Norman was the kid in the class who knows the teacher didn't like him. I'm a bit heartbroken for him:(

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 06/09/2014 01:19

Is it me or did they leave Mel's hair and makeup person behind when they did this week's History Bit? I know she's hired to be lovely and witty not to be a sex-kitten, but in that section she suddenly looked like a normal person you might pass in the street, not a groomed telly person. Most disconcerting.

clickers123 · 06/09/2014 04:26

I teared up when Sue told Norman he was a true gentleman.

Icimoi · 06/09/2014 08:45

If there's a week when they send no-one home, perhaps they'll bring Diana in then to AES.

ShadowStar · 06/09/2014 09:30

This week would have been a great one for sending no-one home in though, as they were unexpectedly down one baker at the start.

ppeatfruit · 06/09/2014 12:59

ooh yes Ilikepie I luurve that french chef too (god I've forgotten his name) Grin Nice to have someone who REALLY knows his stuff.

ShadowStar · 06/09/2014 13:10

Michel Roux Jr?

Icimoi · 06/09/2014 14:35

Shadow, I don't think there would really be any valid reason for keeping Norman any longer, much as I love him - it would just be prolonging the agony. Whereas the ones now left in are all pretty good.so they may well have a week when no-one really does badly enough to go. Or else someone who is otherwise good will have a nightmare and perhaps will deserve another chance.

ppeatfruit · 06/09/2014 14:40

Yes agree ici the standard has been very good on the whole in this series.

Thanks Shadow Yes I've always liked him he's not showoffy at all, but I can't believe he has more than a mouthful of his fave Melton Mowbray pies Grin.

Ilikepie · 06/09/2014 16:14

Yeah ppteatfruit , he's so down to earth for someone so professional and knowledgable. And he's always so kind and nice to everyone. Proper gent.

ppeatfruit · 06/09/2014 16:22

Unlike some chefs eh? Grin

ShadowStar · 06/09/2014 17:31

Yes, it's been clear for a few weeks that Norman wasn't going to be a finalist.

I guess we'll have to wait and see if they do decide to have a week where no-one goes.

iklboo · 06/09/2014 18:34

You don't have mouthful of Melton Mowbray pie - you have a mouth full of Melton Mowbray pie, surely? Grin

toldmywrath · 06/09/2014 22:20

I'm sure someone has already said this, but chest freezers are good at keeping cold when the door is open (hot air rises, cool air falls). So Luis would not necessarily have caused any problems, apart from annoying the hell out of me because he kept the freezer open
There's a nice bit of contradiction for you! Grin

Strawdolly · 07/09/2014 09:56

My mum told me that Mel & Sue are leaving Bake Off Shock. Has anyone heard anything about that or is she just living in her own little world again ?

ppeatfruit · 07/09/2014 13:10

Noooooo Shock Shock Well if it's true it'll eff it up big time!

BTW did anyone hear Mel and Lee Mack on Radio 2 yesterday? I heard the last 15 mins or so and I'll listen again to it.

ppeatfruit · 10/09/2014 11:31

Damn you can't get it on Listen Again [anger] Sad

It's tonight Grin

Honeezreturn · 10/09/2014 19:56

Right I'm ready, cup of tea and a doughnut at the ready! Whose going tonight then?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 10/09/2014 20:08

KiteyDelighty · 10/09/2014 20:08

IScreamForIceCream · 10/09/2014 20:10

I love princess cakes too!

Kate is very warm, isn't she? I like her more every week.

IScreamForIceCream · 10/09/2014 20:11

Ooh I have the tin that martha has. Lakeland.

Igneococcus · 10/09/2014 20:12

My mum makes an awesome Dobostorte and a good Gugelhupf too.

KiteyDelighty · 10/09/2014 20:12

me too. I make a christmas cake in mine

IScreamForIceCream · 10/09/2014 20:16

Ooh have never done a ring Xmas cake, but that would be good as the mixture would cook through well. Ponders seasonallyly.

I mostly use mine for blueberry, or lemon and poppyseed.
