I think she was the right winner because she was the best home baker.
I'm getting tired with the showstopper nonsense.

Give me a well made Victoria Sponge instead of a some monstrosities with lair upon lair topped with some more lairs.
(see what I did here! Grin)

Now Bake-off for professionals would be a different beast.
And PH won't be lording it.

ppeatfruit · 09/10/2014 08:59

Yes I agree again coffee (I did hear PH say before this series that to do the basics well is as difficult as anything else and that there was going to be a 'basics' bake Grin ) Yes there should be monsters living in them lairs !

I'll watch that thanks Alfieand

TSSDNCOP · 09/10/2014 09:03

Loved Chetna and Martha's reaction wen the final announcement was made.

What I love is that even if you've aced other weekends, like Bald Prince Harry, you're only as good as your last bake. And for that Nancy had to win.

Louis' show stopper was just that. But he has form for all decoration and no flavour, and did it again yesterday.

Jux · 09/10/2014 09:12

I'm really glad Nancy won. She was so consistent and really knew her stuff. Richard was lovely, but not as consistent as Nancy. Luis seemed to be more style over substance.

The reactions of so many of the other contestants to Nancy winning was delightful.

mausmaus · 09/10/2014 09:25

I am very pleased with the outcome.
a very worthy winner imo

Moln · 09/10/2014 16:55

What time is that on Alfie?

OnlyLovers · 09/10/2014 21:06

I'm pleased that Nancy won; she deserved it on the day.

Still adore Richard though, not least for baking 'the thing he loves the most' even though he was warned about it being dangerous to do in the final.

coffeeinbed · 09/10/2014 21:39

Liquorice Swiss roll.
What a waste of calories.

AlfieandAnnieRose · 09/10/2014 21:58

Moln sorry I only just saw your message, it was on at 7pm. The second one is tomorrow same time, hope you catch it.

Davros · 09/10/2014 23:22

Extra slice was good but Mel and Sye were distinctly absent. They are a big part if GBBO and didn't even get a mention. I'm very pleased that Nancy won. I thought Luis's show stopper was his usual perfection to look at but I thought the structure was rather mundane as looked mostly like square cakes with that bizarre wheel on the top and very little sugar work

ppeatfruit · 10/10/2014 09:44

coffee Well liquorice in cakes sounds bizarre but I like allsorts Grin so it probably tasted nice Grin.

I can't believe PH is still in his 30s though!

dustyanswer · 10/10/2014 12:48

PH is still in his 30s?????? Shock Shock Shock

TheSpottedZebra · 10/10/2014 12:53

Nah think he was joking.

Or lying, naughty SMT.
Born 1966.

ppeatfruit · 10/10/2014 12:57

TheSpotted Yes you're probably right Grin the 2 of them were rather having good natured 'go' at one another weren't they?

OddFodd · 10/10/2014 12:57

PH is nearly 50, not in his 30s :o

coffeeinbed · 10/10/2014 13:01

Could be a typo.

ppeatfruit · 10/10/2014 13:37

He said he was born in 1975 or 6.( Yesh shome mistake shurely) Grin!!!

DinoSnores · 10/10/2014 15:15

Wiki says he was born in 1966. I thought he was joking with Mary, because earlier he had just said she could make him a cherry cake for his 30th birthday.

ppeatfruit · 10/10/2014 18:13

How weird for a bloke to be shy about his age!!

DinoSnores · 10/10/2014 22:36

I get the impression, given that he teases her about being 'oh so old' all the time, that it is just part of their banter and he is not necessarily shy about his age.

ppeatfruit · 11/10/2014 15:46

You're right Dino Grin

I'm thinking of making that lovely tiramisu cake for Christmas. Without the brandy and so many layers though Grin. It'd be lovely for dessert for the none pudding eaters.

Did anyone see Sue on Have I Got News last night she was brilliant!

coffeeinbed · 12/10/2014 12:48

Someone mentioned the French version?
Which channel is that on?

ppeatfruit · 12/10/2014 12:56

OOH I'd like to know too we have fr. T.V. Grin

naty1 · 12/10/2014 14:21

I think its more like richard made some mistakes and lost it. He was better throughout but not in the final. I think he said hed not made the lemon ones before.

AlfieandAnnieRose · 12/10/2014 17:00

Bake off fans there's a program on now on bbc1 about last years show. It's called class of 2013
