Thought I better start another one (in case I lose you all next week!)

DH and I have just discovered GBBO this season and love it a tiny bit too much....talk about comfort TV.

Love Chetna and Kate lovely hair. Martha is fab. Luis is viciously competitive and needs taking down a peg or two I think.

Richard is sweet - we love his pencil and the way he goes pink when complimented Grin

I actually really like Nancy - the tart and hair bit with mel made me snort.

Norm deserved to go, lovely as he was.

Icimoi · 04/09/2014 14:56

Martha annoyed me, crying and then cheering up when they praised her again. I know she's young but she's not a child.

Oh, come on, that's really quite nasty. She's 17, she's got the combined stress of exams plus being in a competition for something she obviously cares about on national TV. Can you really say you might not have shed a tear at that age when you've just spent hours trying to produce something good only to have the judge tell you it isn't? And wouldn't you then cheer up when you came first in the next section?

ohdearitshappeningtome · 04/09/2014 15:05

I would cry too if somebody like knobhead Paul "critiqued" something I baked!!

ppeatfruit · 04/09/2014 15:35

Exactly Icimoi Many contestants (much older than Martha too) have cried on GBBO; she even explained herself which wasn't necessary.

ohdearits Surely if you're on GBBO that's what it's all about, knobhead or not Grin

OnlyLovers · 04/09/2014 15:36

I'm unrepentant and no, I don't think I was 'quite nasty'. I doubt I'd have cried, and that's an honest answer.

Egghead68 · 04/09/2014 16:36

I want Chetna, Martha or Richard to win.

But I think Luis will.

All six of them left are really good. It's hard to predict who will make it to the final.

riverboat1 · 04/09/2014 19:07

Something about Luis plus maybe the edit he is getting, makes me think Ge is going to win.

Then again I thought that about Ruby last year and it didn't turn out to happen!

I think once you get to the final 3, anyone can win, since they tend to judge each week on its own merits, especially the final - an outstanding showstopper in the finale can change everything. I'd never pegged Frances or John as winners until their very final showstoppers.

riverboat1 · 04/09/2014 19:07

he, not Ge!

Badvoc123 · 04/09/2014 19:11

Don't know why but I really don't like nancy or Richard.
I think it was time for Norman to go tbh.
I would like chetna or Martha to win.

thesortingtwat · 04/09/2014 21:15

I really like Nancy! Kate is smug. Richard is lovely and I like Chetna too. Luis is a twat. And Martha is a bit meh but only 17 so I'll let her win.

Badvoc123 · 04/09/2014 21:28

Ooooh yes, Kate is smug I agree.
Or at least that is how it is being edited....

Jux · 04/09/2014 21:48

I too think Kate is smug. Like Martha, Nancy and the guy who goes pink. I wanted Ruby to win last year, and this year I want Martha. It's the extreme youth that gets me, apparently. I come over all maternal.

dementedma · 04/09/2014 21:54

Martha IS a child! She's so sweet. Her parents must be so proud.

riverboat1 · 04/09/2014 21:59

Huh, I don't find Kate smug. I didn't warm to her at first, but she, Nancy and Chetna are my faves now.

Martha is perfectly nice and right up there in terms of baking but personality-wise I prefer watching/hearing from the other, more world-weary, adults.

I can't warm to Luis at all, and for some reason am not really a fan of Richard either.

Very sad Norman's gne, in terms of entertainment value he was magnificent.

Bakung-wise it really could be anybody's game now I think. Very high standard remaining, though Kate maybe the least consistent?

Icimoi · 04/09/2014 23:04

I wasn't keen on Kate at first, but she's growing on me. I find her, Chetna and Martha the most likeable.

Icimoi · 04/09/2014 23:08

OnlyLovers, would your 17 year old self really not have cried when doubly stressed by exams and the competition?

And even if you wouldn't, can you seriously say that because Martha cried that makes her childish and annoying? Bearing in mind that many older people than her have cried on Bake-Off.

OnlyLovers · 05/09/2014 11:12

Oh heavens, Ici, I'm sorry but I really can't be arsed defending myself over a little comment about a telly show.

Richard to win. That's all till next week.

ppeatfruit · 05/09/2014 12:03

Ici We know we're right Grin.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/09/2014 13:14

I love Martha, and I hope that, when the cameras stopped rolling, someone gave her a hug!

I don't think crying when you are upset about something makes you a child - and I do think that being in a national TV baking competition whilst doing your exams at the same time is pretty damn stressful, and liable to make you a bit more easily upset than normal.

Yes I really like Martha too, I think she's a sweetie pie (and she's a v good baker by the looks of it too). I think the standard is more uniform this year, as in, more of them are quite good than in previous years.

I felt sorry for Norman and his crumbling haggis! I have really gone off Luis and it's probably due to watching the clip on Jo Brand's show where he selfishly did his meringue piping with the freezer door open, potentially messing up Iain's ice cream. I now see a rather cut throat side to him. He looked properly cheesed off when sitting next to (was it Kate?) the person who won a round (memory blank). He's very good though - bah.

I love Chetna's clothes [veers off topic]

Ilikepie · 05/09/2014 21:26

i'll miss norman. Enjoying him on tonight's Extra Slice. He's pretty funny.

Ilikepie · 05/09/2014 21:27

And french totty on tonight too. yum.

ShadowStar · 05/09/2014 21:58

No Diana on Extra Slice though.

I wonder if they'd have brought her on for a few minutes to give her a send off if it hadn't been for last week's baked Alaska storm?

Ilikepie · 05/09/2014 22:03

Yeah it seems a bit off that she didn't get her chance on AES
