I can't decide! MG for me veered between really good and really annoying. Loved her clothes tho. Is she in a relationship with the nanny?

Are we ever going to find out what the"secret" is?

SquidgyMummy · 15/08/2014 08:20

I think the Secret is simply that Kassim is Nessa's. anticlimax

OneStepCloser · 15/08/2014 08:50

Sudden thought in the middle of the night,

Hugh has now worked everything out (he told Nessa that she needed his help and that Schlomo should be trusted) I think he knows everything and will allow all spys to think Nessa is dead (schlomo is helping him here) will hide her, is setting Monica up end result Nessa and Kassim alive living in quiet peace, Schlomo will take over the Stien business, Monica et al will be arrested and Hugh will be head of MI5/6 or he will take retirement and get his wife back.

As to why the Americans want the Stieners dead I dont know, is it to keep the status quo with Israel?

Poor Ephra, he was out of his league.

Cant work out Atika, but wonder if shes a double agent as well? Why not just kill Rachel and scarper?

WipsGlitter · 15/08/2014 08:57

Did Nessa agree to the kidnap of Kassim though? If she did I missed it.

Aghh, Ive got Monika and head of UK MI5/6 confused? whats she called? I think shes the one Hugh is setting up, I think shes playing Hugh and Monika (US spy with brunnette ponytail)

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 15/08/2014 09:15

But i say - except for Rachel! The honourable woman...

No - he was played by her as well - she knew about the affair with Atika and bided her time....

I hope Shlomo is able to help Nessa and Kasim.

Yes, she was obviously trying to get Ephra away from everything, hence turning off the phone (what about his mobile though?) and not wanting him to put the TV on.

I am however, a bit lost... So Atika and her brother (?) and co-conspirators in Gaza worked with the Americans to set up Nessa and allow her killing and that of her brother to be claimed by Israel. To what end?

They kidnapped Kassim to put pressure on her to give the Palestinian the cable contract and sign the rights over to him in perpetuity. Killing Samir Mishal and discrediting Schlomo as part of this.

I presume Nessa isn't dead, but if it some silly drags herself round Gaza story and singlehandedly rescues Kassim story next week I will be well pissed off.

LuckySaint · 15/08/2014 10:11

Did Nessa have to wear trousers so she could run away from the bomb? Was she wearing heels with the dress?
Although when she chased after the kidnappers, she kicked her shoes off... So maybe just ignore that.

I now have 2 thoughts about Atika, one is that when she used Kassim's toothbrush, it wasn't to hide the fact that he's Nessa's, but was to hide the fact that she's his aunt (if she is burnt face man's sister)
As her cover would then be blown to Nessa.

And when Atika said she chose Ephra (to Nessa) did she mean that she was choosing to help kill Ephra because she did care for Nessa?

My other thought is that she's burnt face man's sil (sister of his dead wife) and just part of the same gang.

Is the 'she has agreed' the new US woman giving permission for Nessa and Ephra to be killed?
Quite a few times people have said that Nessa had to remain as head of Stein.
Was that because they knew she would agree to anything to get Kassim back?

'She has agreed' is the US Secretary of State (we've just been introduced to her assistant, who gave the press conference, and who is the one Monica's been calling in Washington, and who Hugh rewound to hear saying 'she has agreed' with reference to her boss in the conference).

I don't get why Samir had to die though? If everyone's helping the Palestinians (and framing Israel to assist that)...he was Palestinian. I guess it's drip guy's ultimate revenge on Stein Sr: installing Kassim, his own blood, as heir, with Palestinian cable guy as regent in the meantime.

But it will be interesting to see what Ephra's will says re Rachel. Does SHE actually inherit, and therefore Ephra's (Stein, Israeli) children?

Nessa defo alive.

WipsGlitter · 15/08/2014 11:48

There's a bit on the guardian blog about Nessa's clothes, I just wondering if anyone else noticed that she had on what looked like a binding top on when she was in her underwear, as if to bind her breasts and de-sexualise herself. Or it might just be some spanx type stuff!!

clangermum · 15/08/2014 14:47

I didn't understand why Hugh seemed to have a lightbulb moment about Nessa being Kassim's mum - thought he worked that out already from the pictures taken in captivity. Was he pretending to have just worked it out so he could express sympathy and 'play' Nessa. I thought he wants to do something 'right' before he gets shoved out of post, or is a bit of acting part of that.

Loved the dog cocking a leg in the background when Hugh was in the park - didn't steal the scene from him, just enhanced it if anything, all those references to him as an old dog. Happy coincidence

clangermum · 15/08/2014 14:48

Hugh is my favourite - every scene perfection

I love Hugh too. I think he looks like a worn out old lion. In a nice way.

Though I do wish he'd stop mooning over his ex wife. He was the one who screwed it up

couldbeanyone · 15/08/2014 17:08

Stephen Rea is in utopia (on 4od at the moment).

BOFster · 15/08/2014 17:19

Wasn't he in The Crying Game? That's going back some...
