A new thread for the final.

Are you Team Jack or Team Ping? I'm assuming no one is a Team Luke.

Luke is so irritating! I have no idea how he keeps getting through time after time on the back of bloody dumplings.

somedizzywhore1804 · 14/05/2014 22:08

Team Ping!

Jack looks like he would be an arrogant arse in real life. Also I reckon he would be the kind of boy who would treat a girl really badly Grin I've totally made up a whole "player" backstory for Jack which is, I'm sure, grossly unfair, but which means I can't root for him in spite of his fabulous foams and glossy jus.

Selks · 14/05/2014 22:08

Aww poor Luke! He must have some supporters.....but I have to say I am torn between Ping and Jack - Ping because she's interesting and cooks some awesome Asian dishes, and Jack because of his youthful talent. But now I'm hoping Luke does well too...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/05/2014 22:09

Team Ping. I really like her.

beanandspud · 14/05/2014 22:10

Team fig here! Grin

LittleBearPad · 14/05/2014 22:10

Ping

Luke is really annoying.

CalamitouslyWrong · 14/05/2014 22:11

Oh bean, we're all Team Fig!

OP posts:
cremolafoam · 14/05/2014 22:15

Team Ping if she doesn't cook DIY dinner
Team Luke if he doesn't make them wee dumpling again
Team Jack if he doesn't abuse a fig or have crumbs three ways
Grin

notnowImreading · 14/05/2014 22:18

I love Ping and they (nearly) always say how amazing her food tastes. Everytime I hear the description of what she's making, though, I think it sounds disgusting. Liver soup? Bleurgh.

NickNackNooToYou · 14/05/2014 22:19

I think Luke is high on Haribos, he's constantly jumping around.

Team Ping here Grin

AChickenCalledKorma · 15/05/2014 08:11

Torn between Team Ping because I'd really like to taste her food ... and Team Jack because I'm so fed up of judges on these shows patronising the young ones even though their cooking is clearly sh*t hot.

cheekygeeky · 15/05/2014 10:04

Luke is adorable but not as good as the others. He's always laughing and smiling.

I think ping will win as she's not put a foot wrong, although jack is v good too.

The thing I've hated this series and last (apart from Greg who I loathe) is when the keep making them cook in pro restaurants. In the old series they did this early on but now they do this every week. It seems pointless to get them to cook in a pro kitchen, with a head chef stood with them every step of the way, with a menu entirely constructed by the chef. What's the point of this? There's no stress element or creativity and its the bit I fast forward. Any comments by the tasting chefs are really a comment on the Tom kerridge more than the contestants.

In the old series by semi final stage they were required to construct and serve their own food at this stage.

squoosh · 15/05/2014 12:54

I'm sure Luke is a nice boy and his grandparents speak very highly of him.

But...........his constant gurning gets on my tits. He's like a cross between Frank Spencer and a baby camel.

squoosh · 15/05/2014 12:56

His gyoza did look good though.

CalamitouslyWrong · 15/05/2014 13:28

He does seem to have finally mastered the Gyoza.

OP posts:
Halsall · 15/05/2014 19:15

Arf @ squoosh. Agreed, Luke is a bit....odd.

Tbh I'm not really cheering for anyone this time, I think it's been a rather lacklustre series

catwithflowers · 15/05/2014 20:25

I'm torn too. I think overall, Ping is the most versatile cook but Jack is also very talented . I liked Luke in earlier rounds but he is so bloody disorganised and now it does my head in Shock.

If they really want a career in cooking, surely organisation is a critical issue. Looking forward to tonight's programme but will miss Angela.

(Stealth boast, we recently ate at The Hand and Flowers and Tom Kerridge was such a warm and welcoming man, exactly as he appeared last night. He invited us into the kitchen, chatted for a good ten minutes about his restaurant and Marlow and how we were enjoying our holiday. He was so humble and a really good egg!! And his food was lovely)

CalamitouslyWrong · 15/05/2014 20:43

Evening all. I'm undecided on whether ping or jack's hd brows should win.

I like that bbc 1 seem to be showing a programme about food poisoning and crap restaurant standards befor masterchef. I doubt that all the raw meat we've seen this series made it to 70c inside.

Marcus Wareing and I are watching with a nice Sauvignon Blanc.

teaandthorazine · 15/05/2014 20:59

I'm not sure I give a toss who wins. Bit disappointing really.

Oh, hello all, btw Grin

ohdearitshappeningtome · 15/05/2014 21:00

8 weeks!!!feck me!

Plus I missed a week! Meh

coffeeinbed · 15/05/2014 21:01

My sister had a friend called Ping.
I do admire Jack's eyebrows though.
Luke looks a young McEnroe

Hmmm.
Tough.

teaandthorazine · 15/05/2014 21:01

Has Luke decided not to shave until he wins?

Ooooh, I love that market
