Hope no one minds - was just about to post on the thread but it was full.

What DVD? I missed that. Has no one watched it yet then or was it a red herring?

I was thinking that Sarah-Louise is hardly ever mentioned. I just looked her up in Corriepedia. I had forgotten she lost Todd's baby and had been married to Jason. What on earth could have been the wonderful job offer in Milan?

Lighthousekeeping · 18/05/2014 12:47

Designer in chief at Armani probably.

I never knew she was fluent in italian

MrsSteptoe · 18/05/2014 14:09

Apparently (Digital Spy) the Corrie producers have narrowed it down to four suspects in Tina's murder: Carla, Peter, Tracy and Rob. Slightly surprised - thought it'd be disposable Tony. I guess that doesn't rule out the possibility that Peter will take the fall for Carla so that he can go and spend more time with his family for a couple of years, as he is reputedly keen to do.

JodieGarberJacob · 18/05/2014 14:19

Can't be Tracey again can it? One murder per person is just about the limit of credibility, two would be insulting to us viewers.

TulipOHare · 18/05/2014 15:37

I like Jason and Eva together so the writers should really let them make a go of it

Agreed! I often think poor Jason has had a particularly shitty end of the stick with romance:

Sarah-Lou - did she cheat on him? Can't remember, but it didn't end well
Becky - dumped him for Steve
Tina - dumped him for Graeme
Maria - dumped him for Marcus
Stella - dumped him for Karl (yuck)

poor bloke Confused and yes he is good with Eva. Leave them alone producers Angry

Listmaker · 18/05/2014 17:35

Didn't Jason dump someone (Sarah-Lou) for Violet. The one Sean fathered a child with?!

And agree with all your comments re ever expanding houses and no kids seen anywhere ever!

I keep thinking I should just give up watching but it's been over 30 years so I just can't quite bring myself too. But it is rubbish at the moment Sad

littlemisssarcastic · 18/05/2014 18:48

I know I'll probably get flamed for saying this but am I alone in noticing that virtually every single scene Carla is in, she talks about the baby. It's really beginning to aggravate me. Hasn't she got anything else going on in her life to talk about?

Now I've said that, she'll probably talk about other things again

TulipOHare · 18/05/2014 20:49

Well, to be fair, it probably would be foremost in her mind...she was really ambivalent about keeping it, then when she decided to keep it, her husband plunged headlong back into alcoholism. I think I'd find it odd if she was chatting about the weather. Pregnancy can be all-consuming when your circumstances are uncertain / precarious. As can a partner's alcoholism, with or without a baby in the mix. I do see what you mean though.

littlemisssarcastic · 18/05/2014 21:01

I see your pov. It's just that Peter doesn't appear that interested or bothered and what with him going off the rails again, I thought their conversation would consist of more 'Why's?' in an attempt to discover what's led him to fall off the wagon again.
Carla used to talk about Rob, Tracey, the factory, ( suppliers, contracts, meetings etc), Simon, and now she seems to be always bringing up the one thing Peter appears to have absolutely no interest in.

Perhaps the programme makers want it to seem like he's not interested in the pregnancy.

Surely Peter and Carla must still talk shop sometimes? Grin

Aside from that, the rest is ok atm. I'm hoping Rita doesn't take Dennis back. slime ball

JodieGarberJacob · 18/05/2014 21:12

I think what really pisses me off about Peter is that it's always about HIM. Always his wants and needs and sod everyone else. I hope it's him who kills Tina and then we can see the back of him for good. Hrrrrrumph.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 18/05/2014 21:56

Peter is a weak man. He is totally self absorbed and self indulgent. This is why I never understand it when people fancy him.

I expect it will be Tracey or Carla who kills Tina, but he will either get the blame (if it is Tracey) or will take the blame (if it is Carla).

Anne YY.
Pained to see that, not content with Tina's general ghastliness for pretty much the last two years, the producers don't even have the decency to kill her off immediately. She lingers for a few days before dying of her injuries. Hopefully without her fake tan rubbing off on the bedsheets.

StampyIsMyBoyfriend · 19/05/2014 14:00

I have family experience of living with an alcoholic, and I'm struggling to watch Peter. It's just not realistic. He almost killed his son, so got on the wagon and lived a sober life for so long, despite his wife dragging him to the pub & drinking gallons of wine in front of him...

He went from needing little support if any to 'dying if he has one more drink!?' And needing locked in the flat with perfume & mouthwash confiscated Hmm

Alcoholics are clever, sneaky, manipulative. Peter is the least believable one I've seen.

TulipOHare · 19/05/2014 14:39

See, I also have (way too much) experience of living with an alcoholic, and actually some of it rings very true for me. The mouthwash - "my" alcoholic did drink mouthwash. I was flabbergasted when I found empty mouthwash bottles hidden away, couldn't believe what I was seeing. I think perfume is a step too far though Hmm. I can also relate to the wanting to lock them in / have someone chaperone, although this never works.

It does irritate me when it is just wheeled out as a plot device that then conveniently goes away as required by the storyline - if they aren't in the midst of a Peter-is-an-alcoholic story, he is perfectly happy and able to hang out in the pub all the time, Carla is able to keep alcohol at home and drink freely around him etc. That doesn't ring true at all.

DesperateHousewife21 · 19/05/2014 15:37

Marking my place finally watched fridays eps.

Although Maria is being really horrible atm I really would like her wardrobe, she wears some great stuff atm.

squoosh · 19/05/2014 15:39

I see Jenna is being written out. No huge surprise there.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 19/05/2014 20:03

Jenna going will be no loss. I doubt we'll even notice she's gone.

How come Carla isn't doing the sick-in-the-toilets-every-5-minutes pregnancy cliche that is the norm for soaps?

I don't understand why Fiz is still cross with Tyrone?

And how did he manage to explain to her why he was at Maria's, why he answered the phone, managed to make Fiz understand he was there legitimately and she thus sufficiently placated to explain to him about Kirsty being out of the country and how it couldn't have been her phoning and why she (Fiz) was phoning this number ALL in the space of a commercial break? I mean how long was Maria supposed to have been out of the room for? An hour?

Also, I really liked Beth and Kirky tonight, hope we see more of them. (Without Maria though)

RoseHoney · 19/05/2014 23:43

Am I the only one who loves Tina?
It could be something to do with the massive woman crush I have on her but I'm gonna be pretty gutted when she's gone and I'm left with Maria and Fiz and whiny Sophie. Confused

mileysorearse · 20/05/2014 07:59

There is a spoiler on the DM website about how Tina dies, but not who killed her.

JodieGarberJacob · 20/05/2014 08:12

I love Tina when she's not around Peter. He just turns her into a love-sick teenager with no mind of her own.

Nancy66 · 20/05/2014 08:59

Maria has two weird lumps on either side of her mouth - anyone else noticed?

mileysorearse · 20/05/2014 09:12

Yes, I have Nancy. I also noticed the other night how haggard she looks in HD.

cheekygeeky · 20/05/2014 11:27

Oh I wanted to mention that too but thought it was mean. Maria is not ageing well and I think her face would look less haggard if she gained a few pounds. I think her hair colour really drains her too. And it can't help having to sulk and whine all the time.

squoosh · 20/05/2014 11:29

I too noticed that Maria seems to be looking a bit older than her years. It's almost like someone who's had a huge and rapid weight loss.
