Thought I'd start this as I'm not enjoying the other thread now with so many people on it who have seen US episodes.

OP posts:
onedev · 26/06/2014 23:08

I really enjoyed the episode but it didn't feel like a season finale.

Surely people would see Peter nominating Alicia as not the right thing??

I like Diane, Alicia & Carey all on same side against Canning & David Lee!!

PeppermintInfusion · 26/06/2014 23:12

Why was her son finishing school for the summer in what appeared to be the depths of winter?

DustBunnyFarmer · 26/06/2014 23:25

I wonder if that's to get around watershed type arrangements and to appease advertisers, peppermint.

PeppermintInfusion · 26/06/2014 23:30

I thought that might be it, especially for the US broadcast, however it's always the same with the sheet over their heads and lit from behind. They did it a lot with will and alicia too, especially in her flashbacks

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 27/06/2014 03:33

I love Eli - his facial expressions are priceless. I'll miss this now - really enjoyed the series.

Nancy66 · 27/06/2014 10:15

I just read an interview with the series producer - they start shooting season six in the autumn and he said it's going to focus on Alicia and Peter being Chicago's 'power couple.' Which suggests she does get the States Attorney gig.

minniebar · 27/06/2014 15:49

I loved seeing Eli's thoughts and plots all over his face!

Diane did say something about could she be States Attorney and keep her partnership, so maybe Alicia will do that, especially if Diane does come on board - enough money to keep them going.

'Florrick Agos Lockhart' (or derivations thereof) doesn't exactly trip off the tongue though does it?!

I hope they show the next series of Scandal in the same slot. Strong woman, lots of dialogue, sex and power… it's a perfect fit!

DustBunnyFarmer · 27/06/2014 20:05

I love the strong female characters in this show too. I may have a bit of a schoolgirl crush on Diane & Alicia.

I also loved that bit when Robin blurted out "no shit!" or similar - i.e. what everyone else was thinking.

minniebar · 27/06/2014 20:16

Scandal will be on Sky Living. I don't have Sky. Bad E4.

gamescompendium · 27/06/2014 20:40

Feeling very smug because I told my sister a few weeks ago that Diane should move to Florrick Agos. I've got to confess I've watched all the series on DVD since Christmas and then watched series 5 and i think series 5 was weak because it split up the women. Series 1 was so strong on female characters, with Alicia, Kalinda and Diane all working together and lots of opposing female lawyers and female clients and this series felt more conventional with lots of scenes with men together. I also didn't like how incestious it felt with LG and FA sharing clients and fighting with each other the whole time and it felt like there were fewer guest stars (because there weren't so many opposing lawyers or defendants). And people that should have been regulars (like Robin or Dianne's husband or that strange Oirish lawyer) seemed to disappear for weeks on end. Still love it though, just want more Diane, Robin and Elsbeth Tasioni.

onedev · 27/06/2014 21:56

Agreed - love Elspeth Grin

AntoinetteCosway · 28/06/2014 08:23

There are quite a few characters I've missed this season. Elspeth, Martha Plimpton and Meryl Streep's daughter are the main ones. I also miss some of the characters who were Cary's colleagues when he worked as a prosecutor. There are so many great women in this show-they should make more use of them!

I am LOVING the idea of Diane joining Florrick Agos. (Where's her husband? I miss him too.) I hope Kalida goes with her.

Also, DH and I are smug because by about episode 4 of this season we'd predicted Alicia would end up in politics!

AntoinetteCosway · 28/06/2014 08:23

KaliNda.

gamescompendium · 28/06/2014 18:14

Yes, Martha Plimpton as Patti Nyholm. I love that character and they make a character that every other show would make sympathetic - the pregnant working Mum - into a bad guy. Also love Meryl Streep's daughter as Nancy Crozier. Actually, isn't this one of the things that's wonderful about 'The Good Wife', because they have so many great female characters they have good ones (like Elsbeth) who we love and bad ones (like Patti and Nancy) who we love to hate.

Roll on series 6...

onedev · 28/06/2014 20:13

Totally agree Games Grin

gilmoregirl · 30/06/2014 22:30

Anyone still around?..... I just watched the last episode on catch up and it was just so great I may have to re watch ASAP. Love it! So much to like: Eli, the mothers, Michael J Fox, gah too exciting. Loved the 'peachy keen' reference. Was that not a Rizzo expression in Grease?

moonblues · 30/06/2014 22:32

Oooh. I missed that gilmoregirl. Good spot!

TheDailyWail · 02/07/2014 23:27

Yes,I noticed the peachy keen reference too!

Listmaker · 03/07/2014 14:37

Yes The Good Wife is great for the strong female characters - love Diane and her fabulous outfits. Kalinda gets on my nerves - more Robyn I say! Eli is great too.

Yes another one waiting for S3 of Scandal to fill the gap of strong females in amazing outfits!

Someone recommended Suits on Netflix which is OK but I prefer the female leads.

Nashville finishes tonight too - Thursday nights will be so dull!

SwiftRelease · 03/07/2014 16:22

Oh yes also love Scandal for its female chatacters! Script a little corny, plots somewhat a stretch but it's great fun.

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 03/07/2014 17:20

Suits would prob annoy if it's strong females you want. There is one - Jessica, senior partner, (played by Lawrence Fishburn's wife - she should join The Good Wife actually Grin ) but for the most part it's the usual 'support' roles, interacting with the 2 male leads. I didn't enjoy the last series, mainly because it's a lot of posturing between so called shit hot male lawyers trying to out do each other with their 'brilliant' legal minds (throwing fully typed legal papers which suddenly become relevant to the argument they are in the middle of - it's just ridiculous!). It has it's moments and I do quite like Harvey but as a concept I think it's run out of steam a bit (won't say what as it would spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it).

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 03/07/2014 17:23

Just remembered - there is a series starting on BBC2 at 9pm tonight - not sure what it's about but it's got Maggie Gyllenhall (sp?) and looks interesting.

onedev · 03/07/2014 18:34

Thanks for the tip - I've just put it into record Grin

Can't wait for Scandal to return!

SwiftRelease · 03/07/2014 18:58

Looks good, the spy thing?

OnlyLovers · 04/07/2014 11:45

Oooh yes, The Honourable Woman. Looks great. Have recorded it. I guess we'll need a thread for it.
