Thought I'd start this as I'm not enjoying the other thread now with so many people on it who have seen US episodes.

Surely not just because he's an important client?

Is it just me or is this season turning out to be v disappointing? Last night's episode was just ridiculous. Plot moved at a million miles an hour, Kalinda pops up with vital evidence and the hearing is done and dusted within the hour. One minute the states attorney is in court, next scene he's with Peter. What's happened to the merger? What's happened to the 'oirish' dodgy lawyer? It's all over the place recently.

I'm enjoying it. I've totally suspended my disbelief and am just going with it. It is the only programme, apart from Wallander, to which I really look forward. I want more Eli, though. I love Alan Cumming in this role, especially when you can almost see the steam coming out of his ears.

Yes, Alan Cumming is brilliant as Eli. He's come a long way from The High Life!

That was a strange episode

Agree that it was a strange episode but I'm still loving the series. Some episodes are better than others but all are so well acted.

I LOVE Alan Cummings as Eli. He is so so amazing!

Thanks for confirming my mother was right- it does make me feel a bit of rage at Eli along with my love of the character though!

Recommended this to my Mum, she has been binge watching on Netflix right from the beginning, has finished season 4 and desperate to see the current season (not on Netflix). Have advised against watching from current episodes on C4 because she doesn't know about Will's death

She thinks that Alicia should've LTB immediately, and been single, that Will is very attractive but selfish and a user, with "too many girlfriends: if he really loved Alicia he wouldn't be behaving like that" , and thinks I could be a lot like Elspeth Tascioni (?) if I just let loose, embraced my true self and chucked in my job, which on balance will take as a compliment.

Last night's episode was directed by Josh Charles, aka Will! Might explain why it felt a bit different.

Agreed! They do have great chemistry. In some ways I was frustrated with her not going for that drink. In a 'why are you being faithful to Will now when its too late? Don't make the same mistake again!' Kind of way!

I thought that canning sunk to new depths and that Diane just gets more and more classy!

Diane is a class act, that's the truth. But WHERE is her husband? Am liking her and Kalinda together.

Alicia and Finn should at least have a one-night stand, if nothing else. He had bad hair this episode though. Looked dyed and was very harsh in colour and a bit side-swept for my liking. Put me off Matthew Goode a bit. I'm sure he'd be gutted to hear that.

Yes! We noticed the eye make up too! Slightly weird.

That whole dynamic with mr smokey eyes was a bit far-fetched for me. Like the governor's wife would just go off with any old punter for a one night stand.

Love the Canning dynamic with David and Diane though. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

I don't know what being the governor's wife has to do with it, really. She's a person, she's to all intents and purposes single and she might fancy a shag sometimes (and eventually perhaps a relationship).

Although that makes me think –when she and Peter had the conversation where she said she'd do what she wanted and he could do what he wanted ie essentially splitting up, I wonder if they also talked about whether either of them WERE 'allowed' another relationship, or whether they're doomed to being meaninglessly married to each other while also denying themselves sex and/or relationships with others?

I don't think the almost-one-night-stand-guy was wearing eyeliner-he was in Lost and had the same look there! I think he just has really black eyelashes. DH has a massive man-crush on him!

Just IMDBd him and it actually says he does NOT wear eye make-up of any kind.

Also that the make-up people on Lost used to use concealer to try to make his eyelashes look LESS dark.

He says he used to get teased about his eyes as a kid. Feel a bit guilty now.

Still covet thick dark eyelashes like his though.

yeah I think he does just have those eyes that make him look like he's wearing make up.

I'd kill for those kind of lashes! DH just told me that on Lost they made a joke out of it and other characters would refer to him as 'Guyliner'.

I think Kalinda usually looks really good. I like her eyeliner and her 'short skirt, tiny waist, kick-arse boots' dress sense.

Kalinda's legs are too short to wear those boots. they're not meant to come up to mid knee....

Doesn't she normally wear knee-high ones? Can't say I've noticed the length recently. I don't think her short legs matter; she's so curvy and sexy she can carry it off IMO! I may be a bit envious

sometimes she wears over the knee ones but often she wears ones that are not and they're too big. And it annoys me. Plus she can't walk in them.
