Thought I'd start this as I'm not enjoying the other thread now with so many people on it who have seen US episodes.

No way - I thought Cary was about 25 or 28 max! I think that's the age he's meant to be in the series which is why he seems far too young for Alicia Grin

AmIGoingMad · 28/05/2014 18:41

Well you've shocked me there! I thought he might be one of those youthful looking but a bit older actors but I thought he was younger than that.

AntoinetteCosway · 28/05/2014 19:11

He does seem waaaay too young for Alicia-I've never really seen any chemistry between them because in my head he's a lot closer to her son's age than to her own!

AntoinetteCosway · 28/05/2014 19:12

And yes, I wonder what his secret is...

onedev · 28/05/2014 19:43

I think you've hit the nail on the head as to why she seems too old for him - you're right, he seems much closer to Zach's age than her own, which just seems wrong!!

DustBunnyFarmer · 28/05/2014 20:29

37, you say? Almost within decent not-too-cougarish territory. I will now place him in the Dorian Grey line-up with Ming Na Wen from Marvel Agents of Shield (a frankly unbelievably fab looking 50).

AntoinetteCosway · 28/05/2014 21:12

I just googled her-that is insane!! Maybe her wiki page is wrong? She doesn't look anywhere near 50. More like 20!!

I'm 30 and I had been feeling a little bad about ogling Cary as I had assumed he was that much younger than me. I am now happy to lust over him unreservedly!

AmIGoingMad · 28/05/2014 21:48

Ditto antoine! I'd been feeling rather guilty- now less so Grin

KoalaFace · 29/05/2014 07:29

I knew how old Matt Czuchry is because I loved him in Gilmore Girls, I think he's just got one of those youthful faces.

Ming-Na Wen though! Jesus Christ does she look young. I knew she must be older than she looks because she was in ER when it very first started but 50? No way!

northender · 31/05/2014 08:35

Interesting with MJF back, can't quite see how that's going to pan out yet. Thought the NSA story ended a bit too quickly and neatly. Do you think that storyline was meant to go in a different direction? Still cannot make myself care what happens to Kalinda.

OP posts:
TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 31/05/2014 11:55

MJF should be a good addition to the main cast, hope he's a permanent feature now. I know what you mean re the story concluding too quickly. I suspect they didn't expect MJF would be able to join seeing as he had his own series but my understanding is that's not been the success they'd hoped so MJF might have been a v late (but much wanted) addition - it did come across like frantic re-writes had gone on. There was some great mileage to be had from the NSA thing though. Maybe the writers for wind of them being tapped, and decided to drop the whole thing. Wink

MJF is such a great actor and an enjoyable scumbag to boot! Grin I foresee lots of 'getting under Alecia's skin' type of scenarios coming up.

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 31/05/2014 11:56

'got wind' not for wind!

OnlyLovers · 31/05/2014 11:56

I was disappointed in the NRA storyline too. Surely there's still more to come from that? It was pretty limp –'Oh yeah, he's gone to (can't remember where now Confused)'. It's like in Neighbours when people had 'gone to the city' when they got written out.

I don't care much about Kalinda either. Much more interested in Diane and Alicia. So has that drunken chat about merging just got swept under the carpet? Are neither of them going to bring it up ever again?

Matt C is not ultra-slim; I wonder if that keeps his face looking youthful? He's pretty fine. I like him more every episode. Still on the fence about Finn; he's not in it enough for me to decide if I really have a crush, and Matthew Goode's bad American accent is a bit too distracting.

OnlyLovers · 31/05/2014 11:57

NSA not NRA!

That reminds me, actually – where's Diane's gun nut husband gone?

AmIGoingMad · 31/05/2014 18:13

I enjoyed elements if last nights episode but it did seem as though they took it down a notch to give our tension levels a break! I do find that some episodes are a bit of a filler and a calm before the storm kind of thing which is how this one felt. It let us know mjf is around for a while, that Alicia is coming through the fog, that Big is not back in with Alicia and that Wills death ironically was the catalyst for getting rid of him! But nothing really moved forward.

Agree about the rushed tying up of the NSA story. Once again I'd hoped that might be a way of Alicia finding out about any of wills messages to her. Please can someone remind me- my mum said that a while ago will left Alicia a message saying 'lets go for it' but that Eli deleted it before she got it. I'm going mad as that's ringing a bell but I can't remember for sure!

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 31/05/2014 19:45

I hope to god MJF doesn't become a permanent fixture. I loathe his character. What a creep.

Alicia and Diane have ways been good together. They emanate a bit of girl power when they're on a case together.

TheDailyWail · 31/05/2014 20:58

It's good to have a character we all dislike. The thing is with Canning, he initially appears to be harmless and we all know he's a sly old fox!

Coveredinweetabix · 02/06/2014 20:44

I've only got to the end of p5 of this thread as we've been away/busy so I'm only just catching up and have just watched Will get shot. I had to come onto this thread - which I've been purposefully avoiding - for confirmation that he is, indeed, dead and that he wasn't miraculously going to jump up off that bed & run off into the sunset with Alicia and live happily ever after. It has annoyed me in this series that the two of them have just gone around in circles and even after a recent seminar - the one when they were at the bar association get together - I wondered what the writers were going to do with characters as they couldn't just keep crossing each other but I am flabbergasted by this. And devastated as I had a bit of a crush in Will. The only reason I watch this is to see them get back together.

Pinkfizzy · 03/06/2014 23:37

AmIGoingMad - your Mum is right, I remember Eli deleting the message too. I remembered it as he was wrestling with the decision to tell or not tell Alicia about Will's death. I thought he redeemed himself somewhat then.

Bue · 04/06/2014 22:05

I think Cary is supposed to be very early 30s. In the US you'd usually do a degree then a 3 year law degree so the youngest you'd start out as a lawyer would be 25. And we've been watching this for years now Grin

DustBunnyFarmer · 05/06/2014 22:46

Ok, am a little bit more in love with Fin Polmar this week. I think he & Alicia would make a lovely couple.

minniebar · 05/06/2014 23:10

I did wonder if the thing about Peter endorsing him was to make it all the more dramatic when he finds out that they're shagging… (at some point down the line, I mean).

Dozer · 06/06/2014 12:14

Isn't fin polmar married?

Colin sweeney's wife was sinister at the end last night, urgh!

clangermum · 06/06/2014 12:33

Why did Alicia not say she thought she was also mistaken about Colin Sweeney? The back of the head belonging to someone else was clearer than with the guy going upstairs, and she admitted to the latter Or did she really think CS hadn't had time/ opportunity. I thought all the flashbacks meant she doubted.

clangermum · 06/06/2014 12:34

Especially when it was suggested to her she'd been set up as a kind of alibi/witness
