Such a great show. I'm glad I re-watched the last episode of the previous season as so much is going on!

Timelines have never been Nashville's forte really.

And sadly Luke the charisma-void did not get blowed to tiny little bits as hoped. Oh well, there's always next season! It's a shame Teddy's would-be assassin ended up dead, he could have been useful. Meh.

If Luke and Layla could just sod off, this show would be miles better.

BookFairy · 02/07/2014 22:31

Jjou I love the new album too!

That Luke really irritates me. I just don't see any charisma between him and Rayna Confused

Verdict on last night?

BookFairy · 04/07/2014 10:12

Loved it! :)

Loved it. Apart from the really sucky public proposal. What kind of knobhead does that?! "I'll ask you to marry me in front of 70,000 people, so you can't say no. It'll be so romantic!" Asshat.
I liked the 2nd proposal much better Grin

I mean, it's not even really a dilemma is it? ...Deacon/Potato-Man...

I cannot watch a season of Rayna planning a wedding with Luke. Nashville's my fave show but I would have to stop watching. I just don't have the patience.

Will is screwed isn't he? It was shaping up to be the most rubbish reality tv show of all time until that little revelation.

I like Jeff, but I liked Rayna besting him even more. And I loved Rayna and Juliette too - there haven't been enough scenes between the 2 of them this season.

I hope Avery stayed, Juliette deserves a little bit of happiness Sad

BookFairy · 04/07/2014 10:50

Jjou I think Rayna will run out on Luke at the last minute and follow her heart :)

Rayna/Juliette were great together. I hope there's more of that next season.

I dread to think how long there is to wait! I want the new season now!

I think she will too - but I don't have the patience to watch the build-up! I can't watch wedding planning, and then a last-minute ditch (didn't Juliette already do that to Sean anyway?); the thought of it makes me go 'meh'.
I'd like to see Rayna ditch Luke fairly early in the season and for him to be all bitter and try and work with Jeff to bring her down: he's totally got it in him.
I just don't buy that there's no good drama in having Rayna and Deacon actually being together and having a grown-up relationship. Shows like Friday Night Lights have shown that there it's possible to have a strong relationship and still be compelling tv. Throwing stupid obstacles in Rayna and Deacon's way is getting tiresome and feels lazy.

DustBunnyFarmer · 04/07/2014 20:02

The bit which made me go 'awwww' was Scarlett duetting with Gunnar at the end (his beautiful song for her) and her parting shot about thinking maybe she should stay. They sing so beautifully together and (their characters) write such wonderful songs, she HAS to stay for the next series.

Agreed that Wheelsup was a twat for proposing on stage. Can't believe Rayna didn't bitch slap him once she got off stage.

And it's all going to kick off with Will, isn't it? Anyone else wondering if Edgehill will drop him & Rayna will sign him to her label next season?

Heels99 · 04/07/2014 20:05

It's my fave programme, what are we watching now Trashville has ended?

DustBunnyFarmer · 04/07/2014 22:11

It's so soapy, I love it too. There's no Grey's Anatomy (similarly soapy), so what's a person to do?

PeanutPatty · 06/07/2014 20:31

Was that the last in the current season?

Jjou · 07/07/2014 10:22

It was. And 'Trashville'!! Wash your mouth out! Wink
I don't know if Rayna will sign Will - it sounds awful but she needs her label to be a success. A gay country star really will not sell records. She might wish she could, but she's also a pragmatist.
Gunnar's song for Scarlett was lovely - I don't want them to be a couple, but they should keep writing for sure.

fussychica · 07/07/2014 10:50

I'm going against popular opinion. I used to adore this programme but for me it's become way too soapy. I used to like that not everyone knew everyone else but that's no longer the case. I was hoping for a big bang of a finale but apart from Will it felt a bit weak. Not sure I'll watch next season but then......

Jjou · 07/07/2014 11:10

I do agree fussychica - I was recently watching season 1 again, and it was far, far less soapy. I think when Juliette's mum shot Dante and then OD'd is when it crossed the line into total soap and became just that bit more ridiculous. And from there it was a slippery slope into comas and pig blood.
It frustrates me so much because it could be a much better show than it is, if they just jettisoned the soapy shit and stuck to the main characters and the music industry.

RedToothBrush · 07/07/2014 11:13

Scarlett won't leave. They wouldn't had a soundtrack album to flog without it! Scarlett will end up regretting leaving Highway 65 and will want to start her career again somehow. How many artists does Jeff Fordham have these days??!

Rayna isn't marrying Luke, but she won't marry Deacon either. They are the classic will they/won't they couple. If they get together seriously the show jumps the shark.

Avery WILL get back together with Juliet, and then Juliet will find out she is pregnant... obviously to much drama. (They have a real life pregnancy to either hide / go with next season).

Rayna will end up signing the band of Avery, Gunner and whatsherface, er Zoey. This of course will course tension as Avery will be touring with Juliet at the time.

Gunner will fail for Scarlet again, as he tries to comfort her for walking away from her career and persuading her to stay in Smashville.

Juliet will take Scarlett under her wing, and end up being BFF with her as they bond over the mother thing and the fall out from Avery dumping Juliet a second time, and Juliet's pregnancy.

Juliet and Avery will probably end up back together AGAIN, when Juliet looses baby (she won't have it, as it will be too much of an arse for Season 4 unless Avery decides to give up his career to look after baby).

Luke and Teddy, will form an anti-Deacon alliance, and stand there all 'manly' and disapprovingly at his relationship with Maddie. There will be at least one punch up.

Maddie will become even more irritating and whiney spoilt rich teenagery. Deacon will inevitably miss some important concert she's doing, because Luke and Teddy stop him from going somehow (probably get him arrested for something petty which he is completely innocent of) and Maddie will through a massive strop over it and go running back to Daddy Teddy.

Will will be dropped. Gunner will do lots of running around after him. It will be annoying. But not as annoying as Layla weeping constantly. Jeff Fordham will resign her as she will get loads of sympathy and publicity... He'll probably shag her too. She wasn't that kind of girl before, but she'll become it.

Rayna will split with Luke over Will. She will want to encourage/support Will, but Luke will spell out the disaster it will be for her label. Rayna will get pissy over him being homophobic, but will have a PR disaster on her hands with Will, so will be upset with Luke for being right.

Zoey will just be annoying filler. Again.

There you go Season 3 written. Roll on Season 4! :D

Jjou · 07/07/2014 11:50

I don't think the show jumps the shark if Rayna and Deacon get together. On the contrary, the longer they stay apart the more stupid everything is.

Heels99 · 07/07/2014 11:55

Red toothbrush. Wow! You could write the show! Seriously impressive

Heels99 · 07/07/2014 11:57

Characters I would ditch: Scarlett, Zoe, Layla

Heels99 · 07/07/2014 11:58

Best looking man, hate to say it because he is a twat, but Charles went worth.

MrsReacher85 · 08/07/2014 18:08

I reckon Juliette might be having the baby since the actress is pregnant!

DustBunnyFarmer · 08/07/2014 20:51

With such comprehensive plot divination, I can't believe red toothbrush missed the possibility that Jeff Fordham knocked up Juliette. I predict Juliette will provide the "who's the Daddy?" quota for season 3. Poor cuckolded Layla may also be pregnant by Will for added hormonal angst and pathos. It's almost like we could do with a soap tropes bingo card for the next season.

RedToothBrush · 08/07/2014 21:19

I thought that the whats the daddy story was pretty obvious tbh and didn't need spelling out. (thats why I said Avery and Juliette will get back together then there will be much drama over the pregnancy, and then Avery and Juliette will get back together AGAIN). My thought is that Avery is a good guy and will be given a good talking to by Deacon about what he missed so will eventually stand by Juliette no matter what.

It has to be said, that it does feel like there is only so many directions the script can go in, with how they have left it hanging. I don't see too much room for resolving the story lines with a twist.
