Such a great show. I'm glad I re-watched the last episode of the previous season as so much is going on!

I think I've got more time for Scarlett...I think she's talented and does tend to pick herself up and go for it. Yes, she's being a prat but then so is Gunnar (who feels suspiciously reboundish to me, but what do I know).

I like the way it's all set up so someone is going to lose out. At what point are Juliette and Avery actually going to get it together?

Wonder if the reason Rayna doesn't go for Liam is that he is actually the right person for her - a bit of an edge without being a raging undependable alkie (much as I love Deacon, you really would warn your mates off sticking by him) and much, much less boring than Teddy.

Rayan is surely going to end up signing Deacon on to highway 65?

RedHatNoDrawers · 27/04/2014 08:39

Rayna even.

OnlyLovers · 27/04/2014 12:49

RedHat, I don't know. They both seem to know that if they spend any time together they won't be able to keep their hands off each other, so signing him might not be a great idea.

I'm puzzled by Deacon and his hand injury. How come he's no longer good enough to play in Rayna's backing band, but is good enough to play for himself and get a record deal? Confused

Also his girlfriend is way too forgiving. He's treated her like crap – that strop when he was writing a song and she asked him something like 'Do you want some lunch?' was outrageous. She's a dull character but she's too good for him.

I want it to shake down thusly:

Scarlett and Gunnar
Rayna and hot Liam
Will and some nice new bloke
Deacon's girlfriend sees the light and leaves him for someone who's
less of a stropmeister
Juliet and Avery

Don't care about Zoe or Teddy.

motherinferior · 27/04/2014 19:13

I'd like to see Will actually come to his senses about Wossname, the bloke who does actually love him and put up with his vile behaviour.

motherinferior · 27/04/2014 19:15

I think it's more that he feels too awful to go near Rayna now, the hand thing. But it has gone from 'never playing the guitar again' to 'a bit of strumming' to 'record deal' improbably quickly....

BeCool · 27/04/2014 19:21

I love it too - but yes everything does happen super quick in Nashville :)

The musical beds element makes it more soapy than it needs to be, but I love it regardless

DustBunnyFarmer · 29/04/2014 23:03

Catching up on Nashville now. It rarely occurs to me, but these actors are seriously brave singing in such large venues. It was Scarlett (or rather the actress) singing at that huge festival at the start of last week's episode which made me think of it. I know she has a background in musical theatre, but it was a HUGE crowd. She has a lovely voice.

Jjou · 30/04/2014 09:26

I think some of the actors - Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio and Jonathan Jackson in particular - have designs on being musicians anyway, so I guess they've just got to get up there and do it.
I liked Scarlett's song at that massive concert last week; she sounded lovely, and was singing live so wasn't doing her usual bad miming schtick.

BookFairy · 30/04/2014 12:07

Took me a while to catch up after a few weeks away.

I agree with the general consensus that Luke is bad for Rayna. There is a definite baddie vibe.

I'm unsure what's happening with Scarlett - Avery/Gunner/Avery.... Make your mind up! Though her singing is still lovely :)

Not feeling any chemistry between Deacon and the lawyer. She is obvs the lawyer for the family of Peggy's shooter,.so that might end things there.

Will Peggy's fake pregnancy come out?

OP posts:
Jjou · 30/04/2014 16:03

The problem with the lawyer, as perfectly nice as she seems, is that she's merely an obstacle placed there by the writers to stop Rayna and Deacon getting back together. Ditto Luke. She's not written like an actual person so I can't care too much. Also she has no chemistry with Deacon either, so meh.

motherinferior · 30/04/2014 16:41

I think she may have narrative significance, though, as she's the person now helping to unlock the whole murder plot.

I liked the vet more. She was lovely.

I am looking forward to Avery and Juliet shagging each others' brains out.

DustBunnyFarmer · 30/04/2014 19:18

The vet is now in The Americans as Agent Beeman'a seldom seen wife. I preferred her as Deacon's vet though. It also ensured we got puppies last season.

motherinferior · 01/05/2014 22:45

So how long till Scarlett is a slavering addict?

BeCool · 02/05/2014 12:55

about one episode I reckon mother

BookFairy · 03/05/2014 16:29

I'm a bit disappointed they've gone down that route.

Glad Avery and Juliet finally acted on the chemistry!

I enjoyed the episode & looking forward to Juliet turning things around. Thought Scarlet's song with Liam was fab.

BookFairy · 04/05/2014 09:14

I want to hear the rest of that song! :)

onedev · 04/05/2014 17:08

Me too Book!

Jjou · 09/05/2014 10:49

Really enjoyed last night's episode - however there's no way that Deacon's opening song was for Megan, psh!

No Luke: yay!! Always a plus.

Renewal/cancellation info for ABC's shows started coming out during the night - nothing one way or the other for Nashville yet, which probably doesn't bode well... Sad

DinoSnores · 10/05/2014 10:20

It has been renewed! Grin

DustBunnyFarmer · 10/05/2014 13:35

Yay! That is good news.

tribpot · 10/05/2014 14:14

Ah was just going to post the same - very good news!

Is the song Black Roses, BookFairy? is a spoiler-free version, Clare Bowen singing live at the Grand Ole Opry recently. The whole show is , it's a special with most of the cast (not Connie Britton) singing songs from the show, plus mini-interviews with the song writers. I don't think there are any spoilers in it, but can't guarantee.

Jjou · 11/05/2014 08:52

Yay! First thing I checked when I woke up yesterday morning I watched the very first episode last night in celebration Smile
