How did he survive jumping of that building? How did he get all that blood back inside him? How did he survive being dead?! Shock

Fellow CumberAddicts are always welcome in the BCAS thread over in Sleb Twaddle. We have plenty of BC pictures/videos to drool over Grin

stinkingbishop · 02/01/2014 14:29

Aha! From the Guardian blog - if you freeze frame Sherlock's deductions when he meets Mary, it says she's a bread baking, Guardian-reading, disillusioned Lib Dem blah blah. And a linguist (so why working as a doctor's receptionist, hm?) And...a liar. Add that into the fact she cracked the Guy Fawkes code smartish...

Bad'un. Poor little hobbit!

FrankelInFoal · 02/01/2014 14:33

I've seen a few similar things on Twitter stinkingbishop, including the suggestion that the criminal mastermind is after her rather than Sherlock - she received the texts & it was her voice playing on the looped video at the end of the episode.

loisismyhero · 02/01/2014 14:34

I spotted the liar thing last night. Hmmm.

stinkingbishop · 02/01/2014 14:36

Aha again! Hmm. Maybe I have been too hasty to assume lying = bad. Sherlock has just been 'lying low' for 2 years after all...Needs must and all that.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/01/2014 14:38

DH and I wonder if she is a Spook. Mycroft's way of keeping an eye on Watson while Sherlock was away?

loisismyhero · 02/01/2014 14:44

And she did lie that she liked his moustache .

I liked her. I hope she's not a baddie.

LeBearPolar · 02/01/2014 14:54

Has anyone else read the reviews today? They all seem to be saying that Sherlock's explanation to Anderson (i.e. the third explanation of how he survived) was the genuine article - but DH and I assumed straight away that that was another red herring!

Bit baffled that the broadsheets seem to have missed that.

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 02/01/2014 14:55

Yes, it seemed obvious that it was another lie.

Furball · 02/01/2014 15:04

edamsavestheday - yes it did - I just copied and pasted and thats why I copied and pasted. I wonder if they did the article via voice recognition so benedict was heard as dominic and martin/tim

If you go to 'oldest comments' there are posts about it

loisismyhero · 02/01/2014 15:07

My read of it was that you were supposed to be left wondering - it may or may not be the truth. And that it doesn't really matter in the scheme of things at this stage.

Pan · 02/01/2014 15:15

Amanda Abbington was a star of the comedy sketch show Man Stroke Woman (which few other people seem to recall).

Davros · 02/01/2014 15:19

I saw BC outside our local Dominos once. It was long before he was super famous but I knew who he was, ner ner ner ner ner! (Very grown up!)

hackmum · 02/01/2014 17:15

Pan - I knew I recognised her! I used to love Man Stroke Woman and could never understand why it wasn't more popular.

I hope she's not a baddy, but it does seem likely that she'll turn out to be more than she seems.

Allthingsprettyreturns · 02/01/2014 18:09

Yes I think she could be a baddie too at first it seemed she might replace john as his sidekick but she is smarter than John.

OvO · 02/01/2014 18:22

No no no no no.

Lalalalalala, I can't heeeear you. She can't be a baddie.

fussychica · 02/01/2014 18:32

Bloody Brilliant!

Not read all upthread but assume all you fans know that BCs parents in show are his real parents _ Wanda Ventham & Timothy Carlton and Mary is MFs real life partner. I hope she isn't bad - she isn't in the books after all.

loisismyhero · 02/01/2014 18:51

fussychica she is in the books. Or at least Watson has a wife in some of the books. Can't remember her name now that you mention it, but Watson definitely does marry.

Pan · 02/01/2014 19:01

I know hack it should have be up there shouldn't it?

ScatterGotStuckUpTheChimney · 02/01/2014 19:01

She is called Mary (Morstan I think). He meets her in The Sign of Four.

Davros · 02/01/2014 19:11

I think she means Mary isn't a baddie in the books

loisismyhero · 02/01/2014 19:19

I think she means Mary isn't a baddie in the books.

Of course she does. Sorry fussychica. As you were.

BalloonSlayer · 02/01/2014 19:19

Just looked up BC's Mum on Wikipedia and had a small grin to myself to see that her other child is called Tracy.

FrankelInFoal · 02/01/2014 19:50

Wanda Ventham was quite the hottie in her day

fussychica · 02/01/2014 20:10

Yes - not a baddie rather than not in the books.

Always remember Wanda in The Lotus Eaters with Ian Hendry and set in Crete. That was way back in 72/73 - my first TV memories of a drama set in an exotic location. Aaah those were the days showing my age nowWink
