Both Ade and Janet's food is superb but Janet's presentation lets her down IMO.

Had to be Ade really

There you go.

He deserved it.

I'm not one for overly presented foo d, but Janet' s food didn't look good

Awww Ade is sweet.

FacebookWanker · 06/09/2013 21:01

Bloody auto correct. That should have been elderflower granita.

Yeah, not much tension there, his final dishes were so excellent.

I did want Janet to win but Ade was definitely better on the night.

Well he was the better cook in the end, so he deserved it, but it was not a good series, there must have been budget cuts somewhere, why did they not go abroad, I remember Christine Hamiltion having to cook on a train somewhere in the searing heat and Cilla (from corrie, can't remember her real name) cooking some sort of tagine on top of a resort also in the searing heat, I think it was the same series but I'm not sure, they were both fantastic cooks by the way, way better thatn anyone on this series.

I think from a purely cooking point of view, Janet and Ade were evenly matched. Janet was let down by presentation - if she'd got that right it would have been less clear who should have won IMO.

I would have booted Ade out when his ice-cream failed and they were left with just a poached pear, but they got rid of Speech instead.

I think Janet was consistently the better cook throughout, but presentation let her down, although personally, her good hearty meals beat all this fancy 'artwork on a plate' any day.

I'm glad Ade won but Janet is also an excellent cook.

I'd have been disgusted if Les had won. I can't believe he even made it to the final. The man cocked up packet custard for god's sake. I never forgave him for that.

Sadly, I didn't see it.

Glad Ade won though. My bro suggested that Les may have put money into the show, and that was why he had to get into the final. But I'm sure that's a grave calumny.

I think it's the difference between cook and chef. The presentation is all part of being a chef. Both Ade & Janet are fantastic cooks but only Ade had the extra "chef" aspect really.

Poncey presentation does nothing for me though.

SoupDragon · 07/09/2013 11:12

Thinking about it, if Janet had done the cooking and let Les put it on the plate, they would have won as a team.

Report
LaVolcan · 07/09/2013 11:37

And why not have a team winning? It would have spiced up the format a bit. The 'regular' Masterchef had two winners last year. They could have kept Brian in then to make it fair.

Report
SoupDragon · 07/09/2013 11:47

It wasn't a team contest - they all cooked separately. It would be interesting if they all started out separately and then were paired off as the contest progressed though.

If there were two winners before, it was because they were evenly matched - that wasn't the case this time.

Report
SoupDragon · 07/09/2013 11:49

They could, say, pair off someone with great ideas who lacks the technical ability with someone who has great ability but no original ideas.

I'm suspicious of Les's rapid transformation from bumbling idiot to good cook. IMO he should have gone out in the first round. I agree with whoever said he'd been coached.

Report
Bakingnovice · 07/09/2013 20:39

It was me who said he was coached. In the beginning it was obvious he'd been coached when he produced two nice puddings when asked to cook his own dish. In the blind challenge at the end of the show his two desserts (v basic ones) were a complete disaster.

Anyway, forget this show you all need to start watching junior master chef Australia. That show is bloody amazing. I'm hooked. On sky 249 I think. The challenges are unreal
