Tonight, 31st July. 8pm, BBC1.

OP posts:

Bloody les! Urghh go away!

And what is the point of Greg? In the Cambridge task all he did washout out stupid jokes. He makes my skin crawl and needs to go. Violent thug.

Think Shane will win.

Fancies40Winks · 29/08/2013 21:04

Speech getting the boot is just bullshit. She hasn't put a foot wrong in any of the challenges, and half assed Ade made a bloody poached pear and some un-set icecream. I don't think I'll be watching any more.

Gracelo · 29/08/2013 21:04

She was so good in the challenges as well. Does all that not come into the judging? I don't think a MC decision has ever annoyed me that much before.

Bakingnovice · 29/08/2013 21:06

And ade has done other cooking shows. Poor speech.

Caoilainn · 29/08/2013 21:13

How the hell did that happen? Neil and Les were weaker. Janice and Ade were more arrogant. Doesn't help that I actually don't like Greg or whatshisface dude.

They must completely ignore all the tasks so what's the point of them. Angry

Lorelilee · 29/08/2013 21:13

I think Speech seemed to have stalled - she wasn't progressing - to my mind, all of the others have (with the possible exception of Janet, but she's good telly), even Les. Also, there was a hint of attitude about her tonight and maybe there was more of that behind the scenes we didn't see.

SeaSickSal · 29/08/2013 21:13

I want to do unspeakable things to Shane Lynch.

squoosh · 29/08/2013 21:21

I think Speech deserved to go, some of her flavour combinations were a bit random.

Elderflowergranita · 29/08/2013 22:07

Her final dish was really poor, lacked cohesion and didn't show any real understanding of cooking. Shame really, she just played it really, really wrong.

What is the it with the big love-in between Les and Greg? Every time Greg passed him by, he seemed compelled to give him a reassuring pat.

nennypops · 29/08/2013 22:21

Remember Speech messed up yesterday - she was primarily responsible for the perch dish described as one of the most disgusting every produced on Masterchef.

Ellenora5 · 29/08/2013 22:35

Wow I really thought Les would go, I love Shane and I want him to win, but I thought the soup wouldn't be enough, glad it was.

Janet is a messy worker, it wouldn't have killed her to clean the flipping bowl, Bryan did look upset at his meal though, he is over thinking things.

Wonder who the makes the yukky butternut squash fondant tomorrow night, have a strange feeling it will be Shane Sad

DuelingFanjo · 29/08/2013 22:38

They seem to be giving Shane an easy ride to the final for some reason.

squoosh · 29/08/2013 22:39

Yeah, soup and a bread roll?? I found that odd.

Gracelo · 30/08/2013 06:26

Les' rice pudding was an odd combination as well though. What was that mojito shot doing there? They neither tried it nor commented on it iIrc. And biscuits alongside a bowl of carbs, why? (I do have a thing about carbs with carbs, bleugh, maybe that's just me).
Ade's poached pear wasn't ambitious at all, who can't poach a pear? And making ice cream is a doodle. I've made loads of really delicious ice cream since I bought an ice cream maker a few months ago.
I agree that Speech should probably have cooked something else for this decisive stage of the competition but I still feel the judging was utterly unfair.

Bakingnovice · 30/08/2013 08:31

Grace you are spot on. Les's rice pudding dish was awful and very basic. Something my kids would make. And the biscuits looked a state and didn't go with the dish. Ade just peeled a pair and stuck it in a pan of red wine. Again, so basic. The sloppy ice cream should have seen him gone. I like Brian but his dish sounded and looked terrible. I hate this new fad of bet root ''three ways', and sauces painted onto plates.

And I will ask again - what is the point of Greg?!!

Bakingnovice · 30/08/2013 08:31

Pear not pair!

Gracelo · 30/08/2013 08:47

The point of Greg is to have provided Jim Howick with the template for one of the greatest comic TV performances of all times. I can't actually watch MC anymore without seeing Jim and Ben instead of Greg and Jon. There isn't any other purpose to Greg that I can see.

dp says that he read somewhere that the BBC is "re-thinking" Greg's role in MC after he hit someone in a restaurant.

No one can make John look intelligent and sophisticated Grin

I thought the point of Greg was that he was the man with the money without which the show wouldn't actually exist?

squoosh · 30/08/2013 12:05

Gregg is vile and I wish they would get two new hosts for the show. They really detract from my enjoyment of it.
