Yes, Sole, quite open about it too.

foslady · 13/05/2013 21:29

Please, please don't think everyone from Scunthorpe is like this - they're the exception to the rule, honestly..........Sad

HandMini · 13/05/2013 21:29

Sorry, should clarify, the program generates the sentiment Don't give them jobs, don't live near them, don't speak to them.

NumTumDeDum · 13/05/2013 21:29

Handmini that is known as a moral panic see here.

foslady · 13/05/2013 21:30

These kids! Some of them have only got to be 7 or 8! Such a destructive cycle Sad

AKissIsNotAContract · 13/05/2013 21:31

I'm really disappointed that channel 4 would show this shite. It's just more ammo for people who want to bash benefit claimants.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 13/05/2013 21:32

Woah, I live near Rochdale, most depressing place in the UK. This programme is making it look good in comparison!

FoundAChopinLizt · 13/05/2013 21:32

I'm not watching it now, is it worth watching on 4od?

Piemother · 13/05/2013 21:32

The girl on the game made me v sad.

The young lads remind me of the book urban grimshaw and the shed crew

AtYourCervix · 13/05/2013 21:32

Yes. Badly named. And very sad.

SoleSource · 13/05/2013 21:33

Bteakouy! I couldn't quite make it out what she was doing, i thought selling drugs.

She looks quite old.

TheDeadlyDonkey · 13/05/2013 21:33

Does this program have an agenda to encourage the opinion that all those poor and on benefits are scum?

What is it hoping to achieve?

Wishfulmakeupping · 13/05/2013 21:34

So sad and scary

GoofyIsACow · 13/05/2013 21:34

I agree the title is terrible, their attitudes are a disgrace.
It's a cycle that will struggle to be broken, generations of the same behaviour...

DrCoconut · 13/05/2013 21:34

Foslady are you a fellow sunny scunny ite? Agreed that most of us are not like that. I've heard rumours that at least some of the program was set up or staged. Don't know how true that is.

eminemmerdale · 13/05/2013 21:35

It isn't just Scunthorpe or so called 'deprived areas'. I did intensive youth work in Cambridge for 6 years and the scenes with the motorbike kids etc happened just the same..

DrCoconut · 13/05/2013 21:36

GoofyIsACow · 13/05/2013 21:37

Oh and now the dog... Stereotype anyone!?

HandMini · 13/05/2013 21:38

The dog scenes terrify me....those animals look totally out of control.

foslady · 13/05/2013 21:38

Yes, DrCoconut - dad was on steelworks, moved to Ashby when I was 12 and moved in and out from the age of 21. Just looked on thisiscunthorpe - a comments says that many of the families relations have 'gone away' for a few days....too embarrassed....

DrCoconut · 13/05/2013 21:38

Sorry, thought the first attempt had got lost.
